Microsoft steps in to help  For Vista 32 & 64
-
Nvidia forums claims this hotfix was included with drivers from nvidia, and prob ati also recently. It is also to be included in the sp1 for Vista, when released. I'm not having that particular issue, so I have no feedback.

Sick of this BSoD that ArmA causes...
SWAT_BigBear replied to Deckard94's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Yeah, real funny. I have the same problem and I'm going to have to go out on a limb and say that I have my shit wired up pretty tight. Did you even read the messages on this thread? Â He said that he tried all driver versions. Â Your post contributes nothing. Â It contains no information, helpful or otherwise. Â The problem was not with how he was going about troubleshooting, but the fact that he was being an abrasive asshole. Â Now that we've lost him, thank god we have you to pick up the slack. Oh my...guess your needing advice on your "tight setup"? And now it's obvious as to why you already have warnings. Feel free to pm me if needed -
which nvidia driver do you have?? 158.24 whql the new beta drivers are not enabling sli for alot of users, like me.

Thanks again Kronzky,

Funny he wants to blame ArmA, instead of his pc. Topic should be named... "ArmA found an issue in the way I have my pc confiqured" -
ArmA plays very VERY nicely on my Vista 64bit!! It has no issues hosting a server! Never undertsood them saying no to it.
-
General fun, scouting. I like it compared to the Cesena.

This warning should have come with the game...

ARMA freezing after 10-20 mins

can you copy/paste that exact target line to us? I can only use -maxmem=512 anything higher gets me all sorts of errors. -

If he really wants to fix the prob..lets just start with basic posibilities.. i.e video drivers.... Get this driver sweeper..it's easy to use. Driver Sweeper 1st unistall video drivers from add/remove prog~ Reboot in safemode and run it...tell it to ONLY remove video drivers. Reboot again to normal desktop..when/if windows tries to install anything for video..tell it NO. Now you can install the latest drivers for your system from: Nvidia drivers Once we know that has been done..and if your problem still occurs..we can then suggest some tweaks. It's up to you if you want to fix it..or just complain about it. -
I'm wondering if the other guys are having to "redo" the fix after shutting down ArmA?

Dought it's his video...I played for 4 months with a FX-5900 1gig ram, amd64 +3000 with med-low settings. -
We do appreciate all of your efforts MadDogX. The cheats/ers have taken it's toll on many others than myself over the years, thus friendly coop games is all I will play. It's not just ArmA... it's a plaque everywhere.

You have to go to the beta site: Beta drivers
-
Yes to 64bit (not everyone can say this though). I have to use the -maxmem=512 tweak. SLI is really nice, but not stable, so I have it disabled in it's profile for now. If you get the upgrade version of Vista Ulimate64, it should also come with the 32bit cd....so you can try both.
-
Hi Current Forceware drivers do not enable SLI in Arma. You can however, fool the drivers by making it think you're running a SLI-enabled game by renaming arma.exe to fear.exe (FEAR has been reported as a stable SLI-profile for Arma). I think you can use the same method for ATI's Crossfire. Thx..but that was part of the "many more attempts" I tried. Yes it did work..how long..I do not know after 30 mins b/c it was actually horrible looking on night time maps and using NV goggles. After trying ingame settings with it..I gave up.
-
Sickboy, Maybe its b/c I'm using 64bit and you 32... but I've tried all your suggestions.. and many more. The ONLY thing that lets me play at all on 1 VC... is the  -maxmem=512. Any other settings..either VC gives up or ArmA gives up... in long games. With the ONLY thing that helps me and sli/off.. I have ran ArmA for 9 straight days playing EVO, (minimized while at work).. without any issues at all. When ArmA will do that with my SLI on... I will have an orgasm! Â
-
Totaly right ! But some of us bitch in the nvidia sli forums I actually report....erm, bitch to Vista Quality Assurance more, hoping they will get it right before my time on this planet ends. ArmA is really sweet those 10 mins or less it last..with sli on. (158.24 whql) Don't get me wrong...sli/off is still impressive. 162.22 & 163.11 beta, will not enable sli for me and seems several have the problem. Otherts don't. Maybe the soon released WHQL 162.22 promised, will help. did i say soon?

It's like picking a wife......... do you smoke, drink, have kids? No info...I'm scared of you then!

The two most MUST HAVE changes to Arma multiplayer
SWAT_BigBear replied to quiet_man's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
I agree with Celery. His briefings are hilarious. -
aslong as them geeks can "hook" cheats..no anti cheat will stop them unless the ac is monitored/updated on an hourly basis....sheesh.. no wonder we keep our server locked
-
Sounds like you answered your own question. So many of us are testing ArmA servers from home connections with wimpy upload speeds. Example, my home upload is 512, yet my server is over 9000.

You know when you have played too much ArmA
SWAT_BigBear replied to Hitman's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
How to tell you HAVEN'T played ArmA enough? You ask what does rgr stand for? sorry...had to..nothing personal. -
Hardware Issues: Tips/Tricks/Solutions
SWAT_BigBear replied to Jack-UK's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
This is from the 1st post, The current drivers do infact enable SLI under the ArmA.exe profile. The prob I found...once you set it to single gpu...it will not give you the option to go back to SLI. I have to reinstall the drivers to get it back Using 158.24 whql
