I've just found time to do some updating to my pc. I just went from 181** (had flickering), now using 182.08whql and Vista SP 2 RC. I have no more flickering with SLI enabled. My FPS still holds a solid 40+ in the northern woods/mountains of the Island. I'm hoping to have time to run ArmA for a long run this eve, and see if I get any new  "Display driver stopped responding" errors.

I've been using SP2 beta since Dec 08', They have released the RC on March 4, 09'. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/dd262148.aspx If your running SP2 beta, it must be uninstalled from your Windows updates. -
"Arma" brand impeding on Arma2's success?
SWAT_BigBear replied to BLSmith2112's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Thats funny, and reminds me of my rookie days in OFP. Playing ArmA, I'm able to drive my Humvee 10mins and then die. -
ParameterPoor FPS with a HD4870, Q4 Phenom 9950

Dang Yoma...your good I find drivers being the main issue... assuring proper un/installs and cleaning out old drivers being a major factor. Occasionally I will delete my "ArmA.cfg" from my docs, and that also will make a bad driver run ArmA differently. -
Mine works fine with Vista, (setup for VR was very time consuming). I only use it for SP play. VOIP/Comms interferes, or maybe I missed an option?

How dare you! The common carp is a wonderful fish, great fighters as well Ugly.....yes. Fighters.........yes. Can you imagine this fight? or the worlds largest common carp.

I'm now using TrackIr to help me quit smoking. The 4th led will cause whiplash.

I've been running ArmA on AMD 2x2 cpu's, for all most 2 years now...why would anyone think quad cpu's would be any different? ArmA only uses 1 core. My @3ghz surely helps but, ArmAII and multi core support, Â is when we can start comparing.

BI press release Re: OFP title and development
SWAT_BigBear replied to M.Andersson(SWE)'s topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
Do you know how many years it's been "under development"? I gave up on them the FIRST time they "started completly over". -
I do not know what it's called in your Bios, but I've heard it is there. Mine has an option in the Memory Controller area called "Memory Hole Remapping". Enabled use all. Disabled only uses half. Mine being 4 tolal, and 2 if disabled. ArmA originally started off with no issues. Nvidia driver updates (17*.**) (which finally let my SLI work with Vista64 in Sept07' )... caused me to have run ArmA (and a dedi on same box), with only half of my memory or mine loaded with the black/grayed out screen. I really do not see/feel any difference with 2gig. I believe it was ArmA patch 1.12, that turned things back around, and enabled me to use all memory (Thanks, Suma). Suma has mentioned of your known issue, and should have it cured with the 1.15 full patch, when released. As to Universal and his suggestion......I say, you should have waited for the Phenom II @4ghz on air......then you could enjoy Armed Assualt!

Do you play OFP?

BI press release Re: OFP title and development
SWAT_BigBear replied to M.Andersson(SWE)'s topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
I'm getting a weird feeling toward OFP2........IF I purchased it, will it wind up a coaster as so many other games I have? I can see the "FallOut 3" why the hell did I buy this, coming. Long Live BI (Best Intelligence) -

Are any Dev's using 2500x1600? The FOV changes in patches cause extreme differences for me, compared to my 19" Samsung Lcd @1280X1024. I'm looking forward to seeing ArmAII released. -
Your issue with the demo, was cured with the full game and patches. Did you like the demo? I usually uninstall demo's and either buy the game or not. Most of us are pointing out that ArmA plays fine on Vista w/4gig mem. lol @ Placebo...........seems that guy has better contacts than you.

Ha, you seen it also? I tried W7 on a separate single hd...... now I know, if I were to format my raid after 2 yrs, Vista sp3 is just as fast as W7. Their changing the eye candy, is all I seen. pfft

Thanks for the update.

We've became hooked on the full Island East invades West. It has a "defend the base" feel, in the early stages. Is this mission still being worked on?

Dito...... I wonder if they are looking away....and moving the mouse, which might cause that to happen. I periodically have to use my "center" hotkey......but it's after I take my headset off for a RR break.

Server ability : URL forwarding of MISSION content
SWAT_BigBear replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Dwarden, You know I am for this, since I use this form of "redirect" for RvS and CoD servers. -
That is from the online manual.

I'm doing what your wanting. I purchased FireDaemon Trinity to use for all my services. I simply copied my ArmA directory to.. (can be anywhere), and named it ArmA Server. I use the FD tool to load the arma_server.exe to run as a service, and pinned it to 1 cpu core. Inside the ArmA Server folder, I created a Server.CFG file with the basic server options, i.e......server name, motd, a password to keep it private....ect ect. Server.CFG Sample Mine works great on a simple 512kb upload on DSL with no more than 5-6 other members. But notice in my sig, I'm using Raid-0 with 10,000rpm harddrives.
