just my $.02. i had a problem when i unbinded my zoom from track ir wehre the view would be slightly zoomed after unbinding it. i played hell getting it back to where it was supposed to be without binding zoom to the z axis. the steps that worked for me was so exit game, go to opening flyby, unbind zoom from trackir then exit the game, then start back up and play as normal. it was the only way i could unbind zoom from z axis wihtout having a slightly zoomed view. hope this helps.

recent issue with mouses causes fits of RAGE!!
SlurrpyChillyFries replied to GAU-8's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
well, i dont know if this helps but its something i have observed. my optical mouse ever so often would slowly push the mouse cursor up the screen until it hit the top, only and only when the mouse was idle. if you would give it a pixel's worth of input it would stop. i would see this in games when i was camping (sniping) and would see it in windows when reviewing documentation. the cursor would just start going upward. a friend of mine suggested that i turn the mouse over to see if it would stop. it did, took about a month to prove it to me. the only way i could fix it was getting a new mouse. but again, i saw this in windows too when i wasnt playing games. have you seen this yet? or better yet, when you come back to your pc after an hour or so (any amount of time really) and the cursor is at the top of the screen? i would move my mouse on the x axis to knock off the screen save to verify...monitor this. -
TrackIr enhancement called priceless

as stated, give it time, it will become the most invaluable resource you can have in the game. as far as the acceleration curves go, i usually slam the first 3 dots onto the bottom to create a large dead zone. this has helped my firefights alot as i sometimes twitch my neck when the firefight causes me to get nervous (from the chaos). but how do yall fell about my suggestion, im really curious about the feature of being able to id a target by looking at it, without having to mouse over...do yall feel it would work or create too much clutter. the most powerful feature....when you look over your shoulder, you spot an enemy, and you slide your mouse around while slowly turning your head back so that the enemy never leaves your view, then you can draw your bead much faster with out having the disorientation of loosing your target and having to reacquire it again. thanx trackir, i thought it was a gimic, and my friends used to until after a month's worth of playing...i have spotted so many flanks in the heat of battle they had no idea were coming...now they own trackirs. -
bullet travel is doing weird

I bought my copy.... I don't use a crack but if there was a decent one out there (which there will be soon) I would use it. Because regardless of the guys in here spouting crap from their mouths.... I DO get sick of switching CDs since my tower is in an awkward place. My original OFP got messed up from being used so much meaning I had to buy a second copy. (The patches that removed the need for the CD were a godsend). Accidents do happen and a fair few of my game cds DO get scratched. I DID pay for my copy so I would have no moral conflict whatsoever using a crack which simply allows me to play without putting in a cd. So far STEAM has been the only successful deterrent to piracy and even that has been worked around. Copy protection really does nothing but add a week or 2 to the time it takes for crackers to make the game available on the net and hurt us honest consumers who pay hard earned money, $99 I paid for my copy here in Australia. Do you really have such a huge problem with us honest consumers making CD images then just mounting them with Daemon or using a NoCD crack so we can play while our $100 peices of shiny plastic sit safely in their packaging on a shelf. thanx barry. i agree with you 100%. it does seem to be a cheap way of getting an extra 5% volume to pump up the numbers. my ofp cd was scratched as well, and you should have heard the publisher (codemasters) when i tried to explain to them, why i needed a second disk. and yes, i will be using a no-cd crack for my 100% legitimatly purchased cd when i feel it is up to pare. -

have you tried running the installer on the server? that is how i setup my server, then i ran the patcher on the server too. then once you have this working, you only have to upload the maps an pbo addons to the server. -

have you tried to pull your crosshair around and center it? well, you wont have a crosshair, but sometimes when i get in as co-pilot, my view is jacked hard right, and i have to move my mouse to pivot my view back to center then it works. have not had any issues on ladders though. -
can you switch to a different team member without having to go to the player assignment menu?

1.05 Server Appearing/Dissapearing
SlurrpyChillyFries replied to mattxr's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
i just wanted to report that my server does the same thing. mine seems to take a day or so, so i wonder if it is related to the number of peeps that are connected. my server isnt that busy, maybe 15-20 players a day at its peak but usually around 5-8 a day on average. czech version. 1.05 quad (p3) box 3 gig of ram -
sirex, i used to use a nostromo gaming pad, check the the timberwolf wolfking, its a decent replacement for that pad, plus you get all function gets and numeric keys close by. i love mine.

1.05 and Trackir Issues - cant lean anymore!
SlurrpyChillyFries replied to shadowze's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
i have not either. -
allow port 27910 outbound on your firewall, i had this problem as well on my server until i opened this port up. people could see it in the browser until they would connect then it would hang for a while then report "connection failed". didnt need it for 1.02 or ealier. i have no idea if the client needs it because i opened it for both when i figured out what was up.

1.05 Causes performance Hits.
SlurrpyChillyFries replied to Jabbah's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
i took a decent hit, used to be able to run the game at 1920x? now i have had to drop down to 1680X? and its on the edge of playability. i have to lie to myself to get the placebo effect because i paid too much money for hardware that runs in 16:10 ratio and im not giving that up. asus nvidia 8800 gts. dual core amd 3800 (939) 2 gigs of ram, no page file 1.02 ran much better than this patch. ill try to get framerates tonight if the wife will let me on the pc. btw, what are these light bulbs next to our names, mine turned on and i have no idea why? can i turn it off by saying some stupid stuff on one of these threads? is that how they work? -
i had this same issue. i bought the fatality gamer pro and used the drivers off of the cd. everytime i started the game it would give me this error. because when i went to creative's site, they dont list updated drivers for my card, i had to go to select a different fatality card to find updated drivers (i think i select the x-fi gamers edition). once i installed those drivers my problems went away.

Weird Server Connection problem
SlurrpyChillyFries replied to Batstat's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
same here. i noticed in my firewall logs that when someone is having this connection problem, their client starts to port scan from the port the server is running on all the way up to 950 ports (thats when we killed the client). but i can connect to the server no problem on the inside of the firewall. do i need to handle new ports? 1.02 ran fine (still does) but 1.05 is a no go. ****i figured out my problem***** i had to allow port 27901 outbound. things to note: server runs on port 23020 port scanning starts at 23023 and continues to 23950 before we kill the client (these are being dropped by the firewall). ports 23020-23025 are being forwarded to the server from the firewall and allowed back out. 1.05 server both copies of arma are polish. server does report correctly in the browser from what i can tell. quad p3 server (compaq) 3 gigs of ram windows 200 server. -
make sure you do not have daemon tools uninstalled. i had an issue with a different game until i uninstalled this. i really wish we didnt have to use these stupid copy protection tools. am i way off base, but it seems that you should be able to buy a version distributed via the internet that requires you to register your key with bis. maybe im missing a big point but if you keep track of keys issued, and prevent 2 of the same key from playing at the same time, i dont understand the delima. im really pointing towards a joint ops type scheme. do really care if the single player game has been compromised? its all about multiplayer anyways. sorry for the rant but after i install starforce on my windows machine, it has not been the same since, it has create stablility issues and after the box has been running for more than 24 hours, i have to reboot the machine because it will prevent me from playing any game i have, even america's army. had no problem for a year until i installed starforce...aka starf*cker.

well, this is the second installment, and i think things have gotten better. as a fan of ofp/arma (purchased them over seas) i think this release was in much better shape then ofp. also, i have not seen a game released that was bug free, look at jo, look at bf2. as far as the graphix go? what do you want, a game like bf 2 that looks good but is totally unrealistic? like tanks falling from the sky when you need them, or other gay @55 stuff only found in an EA arcade style games? understand this game is based more on simulation of a real world than making something that based on fantasy/game balance, which requires much more code in my opinion thus brining more mistakes/misinterpretation. so i understand your frustration cause all i want to do is play the game as well, but i also understand (as a developer) that this game is trying to pull off much much more than most other game s before it. if you played ofp and someone fired a law from too far away, and you watched the fuel burn out of the rocket and loose altitude shortly after, you might understand where im coming from. these are the elements of the game that bring in crazy amounts of complexity. i hope you will wait long enough to iron out the wrinkles but im afraid you will not. good things come to those who wait.
