I decided to make one with bombs. It has two 250lb bombs. I think that 650lbs is divided between 2 bombs, and a 250lb bomb was the closest I could come (AFAIK, there was no bomb made between 250lbs and 500lbs. Someone correct me if I am wrong) -Pilot
-
Yes, I have scripted it so that this plane will land in both land and water. -Pilot
-
Hey alloisi, could you send me the first release version of this plane? Â I will need the bomb models off of that version. I will make an armed version, but it will only have bombs, someone else will have to make the guns. -Pilot EDIT: Duh, my e-mail address is: thomasjlarsen@yahoo.com You might need that EDIT EDIT: Speaking of the bombs, does anyone know exactly what kind they were? Â I am assuming they were 250lb bombs, but I would like to be sure. ...looks like the Duck didn't carry bombs, only depth charges. anyone have pics of what the depth charges looked like?
-
Impressive, but did anyone else find the sound it made extremely annoying? -Pilot

Ok, here's version 1.2 Â There is only 1 change: the armor has been reduced from 160 to 30. Â As a comparison, the Me109 I was playing interceptor with is set to 40, and the Cessna that comes with OFP is set to 15. Download Link: See page 6 for latest version. This addon requires the WWII Pilot Pack. -Pilot
-
Yeah, that is a concern. I did some intercepting with WWIIEC's Me109 and it took forever to shoot it down. Me thinks a reduction in armor is necesary. -Pilot
-
Ok, here we go. Â Hopefully there are no more errors. Download Link: See page 6 for latest version. This addon requires the WWII Pilot Pack. My apologies for not discovering this error earlier, and also I apologise for all the double/triple posting. -Pilot
-
I think every addon maker wishes for it, but so far the only animation that has been found is rotation. Sliding can be mimicked by setting the axis points far away from the rest of the model, and then only animating the parts a few degrees. -Pilot

Ok, here is my next update. Â Grumman JF2 Duck V1.1. Â Changes in this version include shadows, a new prop blur, and WWII crew. Here are two images of the shadow: Shadows 1 Shadows 2 Download Link: See page 6 for latest version. This version requires the WWII Pilot Pack. This is probably my last update until the summer. Â School and other things are making life busy. Â I might fix any small errors that anyone finds, but I probably won't help make an armed version, or do any more large modifications. -Pilot EDIT: *Pulls hair out* I found an error with the plane. Â I'll fix it and post a new version. Â It doesn't have any effect on the visuals, it only effects how the plane floats.

Ok, I figured out what the problem was. Â I had recently de-pbo'd data.pbo to install night visions textures I had made. Â I copied the dta folder from both the CWC and Resistance CD to my OFP directory to fix this. Â After I did that the sky pack installed fine; however, whenever I start up OFP with the sky pack, I get a new error: Error loading data3d\UralT.p3d (magic) And then when I open up the mission editor, I recieve another error message: Error loading data3d\vysilacka.p3d (magic) I tried downloading LlauMax sky pack, but it gave me the same errors. -Pilot EDIT: I got it fixed. I turned on HW & TL in OFP Preferences and no more error messages. I'm glad it's fixed, but could someone tell me why this made a difference?
-
Awesome sky pack, I love it. However, I did run across a problem installing it. When the installer pbo'd data and data3D, it must not have done it completely, the sizes of the pbos were way too small. I went ahead and de-pbo'd data and data3D in the DTA and HWTL folders and copied your files over myself. I then repackaged the pbos, and it worked. However, whenever I play with the sky pack, OFP crashes and gives an error if I try to use the east AA laucher. I believe the error is "bad file format in p3d". Anyone know what's going on, or how to fix it? I don't get the same error playing vanilla OFP. -Pilot

For the pilot, I'm thinking of asking the addonmakers of one of the other WWII planes for permission to use their model, I don't have the time or ability to make my own. As for the shadow, I haven't started working on it, but hopefully it won't take long. -Pilot

Ok, here is a filefront link: See page 6 for latest version. -Pilot

Works for me. Be sure you aren't using a download manager, Freewebs doesn't seem to like them. I am trying to get an account on FileFront, but I am having trouble. -Pilot

Ok, here's my next release. Pic - Canopy Closed Pic - Canopy Open Download link: See page 6 for latest version. Tell me what you think. -Pilot Btw, sorry for the double post, but I thought this this post should be seperate.
-
@alloisi *slaps head* That would make more sense, wouldn't it. Â Thanks for that info, I'll change the rear canopy immediately. @demonclaw We were intending to make an armed and an unarmed version. Â Once we finalize the unarmed version we'll add the guns and rockets to it. -Pilot EDIT @alloisi I have run into an OFP limitation. OFP does not allow animations within animations. This means that I can't animate the very back part of the window, it will have to stay where it is. I will re-animate the rear canopy so that it closes properly, though.

Ah, what the heck, I'll post one last version for tonight. This version has the fixed float position, tell me what you think. Download Link: See page 6 for latest version. -Pilot

I came across a problem. Â I took a look at the float object and noticed that you angled it. Â Very good idea, btw, but this also means that I will have to update the script to set the direction of the float equal to the direction of the plane. Also, I'm going to try raising the float object in the script just slightly so the plane doesn't bounce around while sitting still. Â Hopefully I won't have to do anything that drastically alters how the plane sits in the water, and maybe it won't even be noticeable that I did anything. Â We'll see. Increasing the armor is ok, as long as it isn't too high. Â It wouldn't look good if a rocket couldn't destroy it -Pilot EDIT: Below is a screenshot of what I adjusted. At that point I take no dammage with an armor of 160, and the plane doesn't jitter. I think if you compare it to my other screenshots, you will agree that it is better. Pic

Looks good. Â Is there a chance you could adjust the geometry lod so that the back of the plane doesn't hit the water and take damage? The idea for the wing is an interesting one, but I fear that it will be too difficult to accomplish, and I really don't even know how to accomplish it. -Pilot EDIT: After looking at it, I think the plane might sit just a bit too low. I think the water should come to just below the tires, where the float is widest.
-
Yeah, I'm starting to think so, too. It should be a simple matter of moving the float landcontact points up a little. -Pilot
-
Thanks HotShotMike. Notice to anyone who downloaded the plane after 5:20 eastern, I just discovered that the plane was jittery while on water. Â I decreased the time of a loop in my floatation script to fix this. Â It also fixed the problem with taking damage on takeoff. Â I just re-uploaded the file, so if you downloaded before 5:20 eastern time you might want to re-download -Pilot EDIT: Here are some pics: Pic1 pic2 pic3

Ok, here is my update. Â The biggest change is the ability for this plane to float. Â I have scripted it so that if you hit the water at an excessive downward vertical speed (roughly -10m/s) you will crash into the water and sink. Â If you make a nice landing, the plane will glide along the surface of the water. Â There are a few minor bugs, however. Â The biggest one is occasionally the plane takes a slight amount of damage while taking off or landing. Â The damage is never great, and it only happens at high speeds, so you should be safe taxiing. Â Another minor bug is the dust. Â Right now, the dust is brown. Â I intend to write a script that will add wake much like you would see on OFP boats. Â The final bug I am aware of has to do with the landing gear. Â Right now, while the plane is in the water, it is possible to lower the landing gear. Â The results are less than realistic. Â In the future I want to script it so that it is not possible to lower the gear while in the water. Download link: See page 6 for latest version. I'll see if I can get some pictures uploaded. -Pilot EDIT: Sorry about the slow freewebs link, it's all I have.

I have been continuing work on the Duck. Â I have been messing with trying to make the plane float, and it looks like I have been successful. Â However, in order to make the duck float, I had to turn off retracting gear. Â Don't worry, I re-added that ability through an action in the action menu, but the effect is just eye-candy, lowering or raising the gear won't have any effect on the flight model. Â I am still ironing out a few bugs, but I hope to be ready to post a new version later today. Â HotShotMike, I didn't continue from your latest version, I continued from what I posted, so my aircraft doesn't have the gun. Â If everyone else like my float effect, I will add it to your version so we're all on the same page. -Pilot EDIT: HotShotMike, you said earlier you changed the maxspeed? IIRC, speed measurements in OFP are done in km/h, so your maxspeed might be a bit low.
-
Hey hotshotmike, you may want to make several versions of this plane. One version with a machine gun, one version with a gun and bombs, and an unarmed version. You gun looks great, btw. I hope we can get it animated. About the plane floating, it looks like I might know how to do it, I'll have to experiment a bit, but I probably won't get a chance until later this week. -Pilot

Ok, here is my contribution. Â J2F Grumman open source. Â List of my changes: Fixed prop Removed clan sign (I can add that back if anyone wants it) Animated canopy Animated landing gear Added mission editor icon Added vehicle picture for group leaders (whatever it's called) Animated control surfaces One thing about the control surfaces. Â Due to the OFP limitation on ailerones, I was only able to animate the ailerones on the upper wing. Â I decided to make the lower ailerones the flaps. Â I can change this and unanimate the lower ailerones if enough people want it. See page 6 for latest version. -Pilot
