Praying and claiming to be hearing some Divine voice are two different things. Â I have never heard that Bush claims he hears a voice from God. Â Please enlighten me on this. We didn't bomb two nations that had slight chances of being guilty. Â I'd say both of them had it coming, they were both very guilty. Â Any further discussion on this will have to move to a different thread, though. Gee, so does Russia. Â So does France. So does England. So does Isreal. Â So does Pakistan. Â So does India. Â So does China. Do you even want them to get the bomb? Â Think about it. Â The target of a terrorist nuke attack may not be the US. Â It could be Isreal. Â It could be England. Â It could be France. Â We don't want Iran having a nuke because of their close ties to terrorism. Makes him great in my book -Pilot

What if you added a green shading to the transparent part of the optic textures? It wouldn't be the same effect as the OFP NVGs, but at least there's be green. -Pilot

For some reason the code: BombName setdammage 4 comes to mind. I didn't think it was possible to blow up camcreated satchels, though. -Pilot

Can someone please post the source where Bush said he would use nukes? -Pilot

That's all fine and good but make sure you report the entirety of what everyone has said, that you can't trust a politician. Â Singling out TBA is taking everyone's comments totally out of context. No, the current battle in the Republican party is over conservatism and liberalism. Â There are far too many liberals in the republican party and the conservatives are starting to take a stand against them. I don't mind debate. Â However, I don't consider being asked completely biased questions and then having my answers twisted to support these biased questions debate. Â A debatable question is one like "is the war in Iraq just?" Â or "is the education bill beneficial to today's schools?" or "Should Roe vs Wade be overturned?" You are not presenting debatable questions. Â You are presenting personal opinions and statements in the form of a question. @Garcia Don't forget the political consequences of some US president launching nukes. Â He'd better have a damn good reason or he's toast. -Pilot

I'm curious, who? John McCain is still in power Walker, your questions are obviously biased against conservative republicans. Â Do you honestly expect us to answer them? -Pilot

Looking for the nicest desert island...
Student Pilot replied to Tokamak's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I would definately recommend GOON's An Najaf map. Â It's a desert map with a huge city (AFAIK the largest for OFP). Â It does require a hefty number of addons to download, but really, they're all good addons so you should have them anyway -Pilot -
...I know what a BMP is now Seriously, though.  Much of my life is centered around checking news and forums (I'm glad to see I'm not the only one).  OFP has taught me 3D modelling and scripting...and how not to rely on cheat codes  OFP has also taught me what a military game really is.  I don't think I have bought another game since I bought Resistance, and I don't plan to buy another until Armed Assault comes out.  Can we get this added to the emoticons?! -Pilot

Here are a few tips on making the airport...from someone who knows and has been frustrated with OFP airports for a long time. Â Feel free to use or discard them as you see fit 1. More is not always better. Â An airport well made with 1 runway is much better than an airport made with 2 runways with hangars right next to them and no taxiways. 2. If you add a taxiway running next to the runway, please make it run the full length of the runway. Â It never makes much sense when I see an airport with a taxiway that connects to the runway a third of the way down when there is no reason it couldn't be full length (eg, Nogova) (Now, if there is a hill or some obstruction in the way, then I could understand) 3. If you do have a taxiway system, please add a ramp. Â I have never seen an airport yet where the hangars point straight into the taxiway (eg, Nogova). Â A ramp of some sort would be a nice addition (make sure the ramp textures look nice and attach to the taxiway, though. Â Perhaps RKSL's textures would come in handy here) 4. If you want a really small airport, make a grass airfield. Â Then add some small, old hangars in a small grass ramp area off to the side. 5. If there is a control tower, don't put it right next to the runway. Â For that matter, don't put any buildings right next to the runway. I'll post more if/as I think of them -Pilot EDIT: Btw, the island is looking quite promising. I'm looking forward to it

Happy Easter, everyone! -Pilot

indeed. The island is coming along nicely, but at its current stage it is a bit sparse. Add some more trees or bushes to the island. Maybe add a few more roads in the towns. This island just feels empty somehow. -Pilot

But once again, all non-warrant wiretapping is being done to international phone calls. Even if these officials were wiretapping the American end of the line, they can claim that they were wiretapping the foreign part of the line and no one would be able to prove otherwise. Â It all comes down to, do you trust them or do you not. However, while I do agree with what is happening, I will say that Bush is walking on a thin line. -Pilot
-
EiZei, you make a good point, and I have to clarify my statements. My statements were based on the assumption that the foreigners being wiretapped were outside of the US. IIRC, all of these wiretappings of foreign nationals were done outside of the United States. As such, no laws were broken, nor were any rights trampled. -Pilot
-
EiZei, earlier we read, We the people of the United States of America, in order to make a more perfect union... Saying, the people, is shorthand for we the people of the United States. Damn, I have to go, I'll respond to Walker later. -Pilot

The movie was moving, and quite powerful for being made with OFP, but damn I disagreed with it. If you want to know where I stand, see Sputnik Monroe's comments. -Pilot

Walker, the answer to your question is, you can't. Just like you can't trust a NeoConMan Deomocrat, or a NeoConMan Used Car Salesman (a bit redundant, I know), or a NeoConMan anything. There is no stipulation anywhere that allows wiretapping of American citizens without a court order. Â However, TBA has not broken any laws because they have not targetted Americans, but foreigners. Â Whether or not an American citizen was involved is irrelavent, because the target was the foreign national. I read earlier that someone asked why do we have the right to wiretap foreigners? Â Because they don't come under the laws of the constitution of the United States; our Bill of Rights doesn't apply to them. Â Therefore, it is not against our law to wiretap foreigners. Don't tell me that the democrats haven't done the same damn thing. Â As for destroying democracy, where did you get that? Â Who was all for imminent domain? Â Who is all for grabbing private property because some fly lives on it? Â Who is all for destroying corporations such as Wal-Mart? If anyone is for destroying democracy and capitalism, it's the democratic party. -Pilot

Just some quick pics of a project I'm working on. Pic 3 Addons: Boeing 757-200 (unreleased) -Pilot -
No, not possible. This island requires too many addons to package them all into one. However, I think if you actually download this island and the required addons, you will think it will be worth it. Besides, all the addons that are required you should have anyway -Pilot

I thought that this was just one island in a chain of islands that make up Sarah, or at least that's what I thought the blog stated: Am I reading too much into that? -Pilot

Hmm, looks right.  Good job. ...I seriously hope that is not the whole size of Sahrani, though  -Pilot

Yes, it appears I was slightly incorrect. Â I have been reading the Patriot Act (f***ing government literature is so hard to read), and it doesn't appear that the Patriot Act allows any kind of domestic wiretapping without prior court approval. Â Now, while I didn't find any evidence of a four-congressmen panel, there is congressional oversight as outlined in Title II, Section 215, Sub-section 501: Now, all this does not mean that TBA has broken any laws, because while a warrant is required for wiretapping American citizens, it does not prohibit wiretapping of foreign nationals. Â All wiretapping to date has been of foreign nationals. Â Whether or not a US citizen was involved in irrelavent, because the target was the foreign national. -Pilot

I don't know about anyone else, but I never really think about making a mission, then open up the editor and do it. Â In fact, my only released mission (Red Tide) was a result of playing with the editor. Â I wanted to see how to make a man climb a ladder. Â I got him to do it, then I added a few more units and tried them. Â Then I thought to myself, "Hey, this might turn out to be a mission." Â After that I sat down and started planning things out. Â However, while I always had a goal in mind, I never made anything concrete. Â I didn't have a definate number of squads I would place, or a certain number of patrols I would utilize, or even the exact area of operations. Â This allowed me to adjust the diffuculty by adding or removeing units/squads/patrols until I thought it was good. Â Because of this, my mission expanded from a simple take the base mission to include several reinforcement squads which were stationed in several nearby towns. Â Once the basic mission was made, I added extra features to improve the gameplay and atmosphere. Â Finally, I beta-tested the mission and recieved many good suggestions from my beta-testers. Everyone else is absolutely right, if you get bored with it, leave it alone for a while, maybe even a few days. Â Also, Serclaes is right, don't go making a mission just to make a mission. Â Do it because you enjoy it and want to see your creation succeed. So, to conclude, I would say don't sit down and think about making a mission. Â Just play around with the editor. Â You may see something that you want to expand into a mission, perhaps you see some kind of terrain that would be just perfect for an ambush, or maybe that hill there looks quite strategic. Â Let the ideas come to you, don't go looking for them. -Pilot
-
You are absolutely right, and legislation was passed, the Patriot Act. Â Wording within the Patriot Act allows the use of wiretapping in the manner I have described above. -Pilot EDIT: Let me clarify. The Patriot act did not put wiretapping into use, but it gave the President authorization to wiretap as long as certain rules were followed, the most important being oversight by 4 congressmen, two from each party, as decribed above.
-
*peeks back in* Indeed, how many times have I heard this on this forum? There is oversight. Â There is a panel of 4 congressmen, 2 congressmen from each party, who have to view the information first before the wiretaps are made. Â This isn't a case of some yahoo acting like a tyrant. Â This method is quicker than obtaining a warrant and therefore allows the government to more easily catch terrorists or terrorist supporters. This process is necessary with the overwhelming number of throw-away cell phones available to anyone who wants them. These cell phones allows a person to make one call, then they throw away the phone and use another one. The traditional method of getting a warrant isn't fast enough for this kind of environment. *leaves again* -Pilot

I had momentarily forgoten about that... I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish that project, it's close to being out of my skill level. There's so much to do, and so little time... -Pilot
