  1. Unsung 3.0 - W.I.P THREAD Hi all , Well its a new year and time to move forward. The unsung team have had a rest from our 2.6 release for A2 and we are looking to move into the next installment of the Arma series. We have done extensive testing and work on the 2.6 release to the point where we are happy we have a solid base to work from as we progress. However, We need your help. We are currently seeking Config writers, Modellers, Texture artists. Especially those whom have experience in porting A2 content to A3 taking advantage of PhysX and other engine enhancements. Ok here's the Idea I got to thinking of how bloody annoying it is: 1/ Flying some user made planes in OA and some not having the missile warning receiver work or not exist. 2/ How most of the missiles fly off the rails and have unrealistic acceleration and speed when fired. 3/ Also the annoyance of having no chaff or flares to defeat the missile when its on your butt 4/ And lastly having to manually select afterburner in the menu to turn it off and on.... So the solution?? I believe most of it is in the config?? Why not create another addon that adds these features to most if not all new and pre released plane models (with authors permission of course) 1/ Add coding to master config to make it appear and work 2/ Add GLT mykes missiles to all since they appear to be the most realistic IMO. 3/ Add ACE 2 Flares 4/ Add throttle enabled afterburner coding (for those who haven't tried it download the racs mod ) Now obviously permissions have to be given from these mod groups before they can be applied.Now most not all use OA &ACE 2 ? and some not all use GLT missile box? these I believe would be the only required addons. If it seems like a worthwhile venture leave your thoughts ideas here. Anyone that can help out drop me a PM since my coding knowledge is not sufficient to do this :/ Sav

  7. Unsung 2.6 Released 09/08/14 It's finally here ! We set out September 2013 to correct errors and bugs with our 2.5 release, and yet again it exploded to be our biggest release to date. With the help of new, keen and talented team members this time we are releasing something very special. The unsung Vietnam war mod has evolved and broken new ground in the Arma series.   8. I have to day this update is quite special , from the tumbling Nape cans to the new A4 Liveries and texture enhancement. There is a lot of other enhancements that you may miss , all planes are getting new Physx and will have all the Jets bells and whistles added. Its sooooo cool flying along and watching those cans tumble and hit the tree line , burst into flame with our new nape fire effects ... looks so fresh ! I'm really proud of the team keeping the unsung machine rolling. Can't believe the old girl (Unsung) still going hard 14 years on !
  9. Ok Steve I will make it as clear as possible so there is no confusion.There has been no deception at all I clearly put to you the standard agreement between contributors of the mod. I noted your concern with the right of the current members to "Fine tune" any work you done IF you are no longer with the team FOR the benefit of the mod overall. That's fine you don't have to agree, that's your choice. Yes you were with the unsung briefly in the pre-arma 2 days and your name was credited accordingly. If it wasn't detailed enough my apologies since you did in fact leave the team many years ago and were not heard of again till recently. However , after learning of threats you made against others in the team I decided to sever contact with you. I won't tolerate it , that's my choice. Any remaining coding or work you contributed will be reviewed, Egg will contact you in a PM how we will manage this. I wish you all the best in the future. SaV
  10. Hi drdetroit Glad you like the radio sounds, some don't which is fine its not for everyone. I spent a lot of time finding and remixing them to sound the way they do , unfortunately there is no real way to simulate volume control YET ;) ... I have more real tracks I want to add to the mix including Australian radio transmissions. I'm hoping with Tetet's expertise to have Aussie combat radios only play with Australian radios and US on the other at the same time ;) depending on which one you pick up. Also a lot of people may have missed there is a NVA version with chatter too ;) It still needs some work the combat tracks overlap sometimes. I intend to make some more music tracks for the AM radio Maybe in next release we can get it all in .. SaV
  11. 2.6 RELEASE WIP REPORT #1 OK just a quick update to let you all know that we are still alive and kicking. While work continues, sadly it appears that 2.6 won't be finished until 2014. So no Christmas present from us for all those patiently waiting sorry :( Taking into consideration all the work still left to do on the updates and enhancements. Also, with Christmas coming up the its just not possible to get it out on time. However, that being said the amount of new content and all the new enhancements will undoubtedly be worth the wait. And since this is our last release for Arma 2 we want make sure we fix all we can before we close off modding to this wonderful game. This release adds brand new weapons to replace our aging legacy ones with brand new textures , animations and sounds. The coding has also had a progressive re-write by the config and script team correcting inherit errors and optimising gameplay. Our arma 2 legacy islands have also been ported into this release and are standalone!! no third party addons required eg CUP etc. Brand new features and easter eggs and not to mention the addition of 2 exciting new islands to run, gun and frag on . New land , sea and Air assets added with some crafty new surprises that takes you to the next level of combat in the thick jungles of vietnam. The Anzacs have landed!!   16. Well, I have to say Echo is shaping up to be a hell of a release. Finally stuff we made in V2.6 is flowing into this release. Finally my combat radio and AFVN virtual radio is now in and working very well thanks to Tetet's determination, skill and patience. I might post a quick vid of it in action soon ;) There are so many fixes , and updates etc I cant remember them all . Yep Echo is gonna be another quality release , Well done to the guys they have done a great job yet again :) SaV

I laid all the base sounds down on all the weapons but they are missing the tails and sound shaders etc. If someone would add these to the coding I believe they will be the most authentic sounds you would hear since they are recorded from the actual weapon they belong to. But alas , coding is not my skill set and therefore is what it is for now. Hopefully with this next release on steam "May" have someone come forward to add this coding / new tail sounds ect. I just hope they don't intend to replace my base sounds I have been working on for years. And for all those going on about the DSAI chatter, Tet has removed it from the arsenal screen. It was put in to give you directional awareness which I think works particularly well in the thick environment. Unfortunately there are only a select number of voice files and if you play the mod long enough you will hear them all.

  19. After much consideration I have decided to retire from the unsung mod.13 years of modding has taken its toll on me. Its made me tired , angry , frustrated , elated , happy and proud not in that order I must add :P . My vision I had way back in 2004 has been fulfilled and everything I wanted to see in the mod has come to fruition. I have asked Eggbeast to take over and keep her straight and true. We have worked closely together for 5 years, through up's and down's but we were always were on the same page where the mod should go. I know it is in good hands under Egg's leadership and I am confident he will take the team the rest of the way. I am proud to have worked alongside a number of talented and dedicated people over the years and being part of the oldest active mod of the Arma series . We shared a lot of good memories and made lifetime friendships along the way for this I am very grateful. As this chapter closes a new one opens and I look forward to each subsequent release and wish my team godspeed and success in the future... To the fans that helped keep the mod alive I personally thank for all the kind words , encouragement and support. Its really great to know that our hard work is appreciated. It helped motivate and push me along even when the mountain seemed too high again thank you all. So let me say in parting, a quote that I always ended with on each release....   21. I just remixed the m60 much more beefy now. You gonna have to wait till echo to hear it. I have been remixing a lot of sounds for the guns. Just need someone to do the tails and soundshaders to complete the package

  23. Ok from what I understand the XF-107 didn't see combat in nam, therefore we wouldn't add it unfortunately. As we stated in our podcast only if the asset was used in the war then we will make sure it goes in , if not well sorry no.
