  1. To be honest BIS have done little more than listen to community demand - I hope they can make some more off their investment (I doubt the Arma series has been super profitable for them). Personally I wouldn't be against donating £8 just to say thank you for nearly ten years of distraction!

The quality of the content looks 'good' - although we have been spoilt for a few years now by PUKF and RKSL and co.

In regards to the realism I am a bit shocked about how little has been put into accuracy - not having enough contacts and references is not really an excuse.

I think Arma 2 is a platform than can be used for a good few years - fantastic to see that BIS share this view aswell!

I will be putting up the £8 on release.

  2. Actually reading through this thread now where quite a noticeable number of people ask themselves to pay for something that Bohemia was releasing for free for previous games - it makes me RAGE. I can't understand how people can seriously ask out of their free will for ArmA2 to be turned into something as bad as Sims or WoW with their $25 textureless horses and furniture.

This thread is all that is wrong with gaming today.

Games companies (and their publishers) have exploited Gamers on many occasions in regards to DLC. However - I can think of few occasions where it has worked.

Fallout 3 is one such example - Point Lookout especially is fantastic and shows the manner in which games companies could add value to their product and gain acclaim at the same time.

However the one example which really angers me is of Creative Assembly. They released both Napoleon Total War and Empire Total War unfinished with a chronic lack of unit differentiation so they could release DLC. This has obviously been pushed on them by the publisher, and really sums up what is wrong with the Industry at the moment.

On the other hand, I think we should give BI a chance. I believe they will not sell out to the community and start ripping us off. At the end of the day most people here would not be out of sorts paying a fiver for some extra content - be it a campaign, more units or engine changes. If BI do release sub-standard DLC we will look straight to the modders and as such it will not sell.

  3. USA just need some consistency, they were poor against Czech Reupublic but showed their real character in the opening 20 minutes against Italy, before the havoc started. In my eyes the only justified sending off was that of De Rossi and Pope which would have left 10 on 10, a much fairer contest.

Have to say I was very impressed by the USA.

  4. I think Sweeden would suit a game against Germany, Germany's horrific leaky defence would let in goals, and with players like Ibrahamovich and Ljungberg they 'should' take advantage of it.

Although Sweedens Defence is equally shaky, and Podloski and Klose arent too bad biggrin_o.gif

And to whoever questioned England were under pressure, of course they were, they were being held by Trinidad and Tobago, not physical pressure but mental.

  5. Umm I dont think many of you watched that game, England did not play fantastically, but did not play bad either, the two goals that did finally happen were on the cards for 30 minutes almost as soon as Lennon and Rooney came on. Easy Chances were missed by Lampard and Crouch which would have made it look easy. Many people would think England played amazing if Crouch scored before half time and at full time it was 3-0, the pressure made the result look a lot worse than it was.

Personally I was happy with the performance, Stevie Gerrard was solid, Lampard had his momements (fantastic movement), Beckham was sublime, Lennon played very well, Terry was solid and we finallly got Rooney on the pitch.

All in all a lot of positives to take into the Sweeden game. I do think people forget this is the world cup and we were playing a team which held Sweeden to a 0-0 which showed their defensive prowess (and the importance of Dwight Yorke).
