  1. Many thanks :)

But, mod tool for "creating terrains" is not the right description, because you still "create" the terrain with the TerrainBuilder.

But if you have an empty terrain ready, incl. some roads, then you can give the X-Cam a try.

    Silola

Holy sh*t, if this is for creating Terrains then it is by FAR and away the single most anticipated mod tool coming out for me...

Your approach of releasing Tutorials videos (That are amazingly clear and well presented) is also most welcome.

Keep up the fantastic work man..! :)

  2. In the earlier pics I could see that Unit placing(AI) is possible, too.

How do you thinking about the combination of your (excellent) grouping function and the coming "setGroupOwner" command? If everything is loaded through an script then the Ai could be precise spawned on some clients. Like some global checkbox you can choose "spawn on hc" (if possible). Even the physx stuff could be done by some different HC with "setOwner" (for statics)

What do you think about this idea?

    Hi,

atm I don't think about all the posibilities in connection with the "Unit" and "Vehicle" layer within the X-Cam,

because I have some other problems...sorry.

But maybe we can talk about these layers later, but first I need a break

after the X-Cam was released ;-)

    ---------- Post added at 16:00 ---------- Previous post was at 15:59 ----------

    Just a sidenote:

I know, it's hard always to wait and wait and wait, and only to see some videos.

And I know that some people don't like my approach, but I don't like to release any addon in version 0.1,

because I want to release the X-Cam in version 1.0. And this is my personal attitude which I do not want to change ... sorry.

And maybe it was not really a good idea to show in advance all the tutorial videos.

On the other hand, it might be, that there are some people who can prepare well with the videos.

And that's what I want, that the user has fun and not frustration after the release of the X-Cam,

and that the user can start with the work, and not has to wait for a necessary function was implemented.

But that's my personal opinion, and everyone should do it the way he wants ... of course.

So, please continue to be patient :)

And you can be sure that I do everything in order to release it as soon as possible.

    Greeting

    Silola

  3. Awesome!

Will it be possible to import from mission.sqm too?

No, that's not possible and you don't need such a function (I talk about objects only)

If you, for example, start the X-Cam with an existing mission, and within this mission some structures have been placed,

then you can easily detect and capture the structures, and then save these structures as a prefab, for example.

  4. Hi,

thanks for the nice comments :)

Working together is of course possible. The xcam_prototype map, for example, was a team project.

But it's not possible to mix the projects from each user together (online), because each user saves his own dataset local.

But you can share favorites and prefabs on the fly and you can also import prefabs and colorschemes from other users (maybe also projects)

It's also possible, if each user saves a project as a script file, to merge all script files together manually and then load this script into your mission, for example.

And yes, I'm currently working on mission.sqm export also.

    @Astrell: Many thanks:notworthy:

  5. ... and that's exactly the reason for the "low density" version of the map.

We have also determined to release an additional LD (low density) version.

In this version all additional clutter objects, as well as small stones and bushes were removed.

This version should be suitable for small infantry fights in MP environment.

The additional LD version (low density) can be found in the folder [LD].

If You want to use the LD version then replace the xcam_prototype.pbo with the xcam_prototype_ld.pbo.

  6. What exactly do you mean with "fitted for MP terrains" ???

There is allready a fps counter. If you have a closer look to the status bar at the bottom of the screen.

    FmF8aEd.jpg

But if I record a video, this counter shows not more then 30 fps, because that's the setting within the record software.

You have to watch the videos in 1080p to spot this counter ;)

@t-800a: I'll catch you and then ... :coop:

    Greetings

    Silola

    @silola

this tools is fitted for MP terrains IMHO

is it possible to insert a script that show a FPS counter?

for me this helps to placing the right amount of objects like the "budget monitor" in Cryengine

  7. Welcome to the forum :)

What exactly do you mean with "randomise output"?

You can randomise all object positions within a selection (a prefab is also a selection),

the objects then "swap" their positions with each other, but with a prefab as seen in the video, it makes no sense.

A function to create objects/prefabs along a road is possible, but not planned for the X-Cam.

The X-Cam should encourage your creativity, and do not support your laziness :p

*Long time lurker - First time poster*

I love the simplicity of this idea, highlight, copy, paste.

If i could be so bold: i guess it would be a break of creativity to find new Arma3 terrains with copied layouts from Altis and Stratis. Same towns new terrains.

Question - Is it possible with the tool to copy the object's, but randomise the output?

Having looked through the thread, i noticed that there are some issues with roads.

Could i ask that having placed all my roads in Terrain Builder, along with my question, could X-cam use the current road layout and output objects that follow the flow?

Thanks again and i will continue to lurk! :) :)

  8. Hi,

    I have prepared a small X-Cam experiment :)

The basic idea is to extract certain parts of the prototype map, and then import all the objects as a script file on the VR map.

The individual steps of the experiment are as follows:

On the prototype map I collect various areas and detect all objects in these areas.

Each object record is then stored as a single Prefab.

Then I go to the VR map and start a new project there.

In the next step I read each Prefabs back and save them in the new project.

Finally, I'll create a script file from the whole project, which then can be used by everyone on the VR map.

The script file contains data from approximately 26,500 objects that are generated either with or without markers.

Things that do not work in this experiment:

    - Roads can not be detected.

    - Objects have no Annimation (trees do not move, gates will not open).

    - The individual scaling value of the objects can not be seen (Scaling is allways 1)

    - Some objects have a wrong position (height) because the right terrain height model is not available.

For this experiment, I have used the "light" version of the prototype map.

To reproduce all the steps I've created a video:

The demo mission with the appropriate script can be downloaded here:

    https://mega.co.nz/#!M89kQIgA!cKrIGYGVlCYQI0Qy1jA7QYum9oSgaLtdfk7gkCL Pj8Q

Hint: You can run the script experiment only if you have the xcam_prototype map installed, including all required addons.

With my comp the script requires round about 15 sec. to create all 26.500 objects (without markers).

    Greetings

    Silola

  9. Hi,

I am not only working on bug fixing, but also on many usefull functionalities. There are so many things to do.

But what happens when the X-Cam is released? There are two things that makes me worry.

So many pm's reached my postbox, and I think so many people have not understand what the X-Cam exactly is.

Some may think that they can create a complete map with the X-Cam in a few days/weeks, without having to use the official tools.

But in principle, the X-Cam can only create content for an existing (empty) map, or an existing mission. That's all.

I think many people will be disappointed then :(

Others maybe will use the X-Cam for quickly creating new content for Arma 3 and then sold this content within a modification.

But I do not want this. And now? I don't know.

    Greetings

    Silola
