    Helicopters in AA

    I bet they lost a lot of customers in the process too And lets get real here, you all think that BIS tried to simulate realistic chopper behavion. Well they didn't because the chopper behavior its no more realistic then the OFP one, no matter how much it fakes it. Now think about it. Why would they try to simulate realistic chopper behavior and totally leave out the other vehicles such as tanks, cars, etc. They are as arcadish as you can get. It doesn't make any sense. You had a point if they at least made the harrior take off like in real life. Everybody says that the behavior is "realistic" because at high speed you you lose the effectiveness of the tail rotor. Well true, but thats only a small fraction of the whole story. There are so many things that are wrong and you can't do in real life, but you can with the ARMA flight dynamics. And saying "well you don't have to fly that way" doesn't change anything, because its there to begin with. There are 3 types of combat in ARMA - Sea, Air and Land. So far you can only argue the land is "realistic" other than that they are as arcadish as you can get. They might be going in the right direction with the flight dynamics, but so far they are bad. Doing something "realistic" yet half finished is worst then doing it arcadish and having it look "realistic"

    OFP Vs Arma SP Campaign

    I believe its Gavstosky (sp). Anyway Im pretty sure its with a G. Anyway I agree with you all that the OFP campaign is a blockbuster while the ARMA campaign is a lackluster. Its pretty obvious very different people worked on the campaigns. It makes one wonder if it was Codemasters who indeed pushed quality into the OFP campaign. Edit 1.     Good lol, he is working hard to "move" his soldier. Well he will have a heck of a time shooting anything with the xbox controler. Same goes with choppers. Flying and moving ain't hard, shooting and hitting anything is. Congratz to your friend, but for an FPS, mouse and keyboard should be the easiest way to control it, no questions about it.

    I heard about that as well, but people only fly choppers with the controlers. I have yet to hear of somebody using it to move their soldier. Is your friend doing that freeman?

    Dude, ARMA controls are mest up as it is for mouse and keyboard. No way that game will make it to the X-Box, with the same controls. At the moment I doubt even the devs can answer that question. That just means they took thinks from elite and implemented into ARMA. Like musquitoes flying around

    One more thing I found out today. Bullet pentrating wood happens only to wodden houses. I found a wodden ramp and no bullets would go through it.

    Fixed center view. In vehicles, you can't look around with the mouse without moving the vehicle. It was there in OFP, but it was taken out.

    Helicopters in AA

    We have here a 17 year old "expert helicopter pilot" who barely got out of high school. Mind telling us how are helicopters handling "realistic" in ARMA? I must admit that there is an improvement in 1.02 over 1.00, but far from enjoyable. Other than flying around, and landing, theres not much you can do with a chopper. Being accurate with a chopper and hitting something while flying is close to impossible. (Using mouse and keyboard). And because of that, the helicopter is in control of you. Conclusion: OFP helicopter handling was better than ARMA, and more fun. Fighting against a chopper in ARMA is close to impossible, so you can forget that in MP. Is anyone able to dogfight in the "camel dogfight" MP map? To me its impossible to fly and hit anything at the same time. The new patch really cut down any hope for me that this game will be improved for the better. So I decided that I won't "get used" to this new interface like most of you here, and just let it go instead. OFP was ugly, but OFP had a solid gameplay you could actually enjoy. ARMA on the other hand is like the bottom of a sinking ship, just broken. So If I want to play a good coop, CTF, or CTI, OFP's the game for me.

    Sorry to hear that but no I don't have a problem with ARMA. The only reason I'm here talking about it is because I defend my views, and I like to debate. Also because I like OFP. Everything that I said is not based on my opinions alone, but other opinions that I read in a lot of other threads also.

    Codemasters still working on OFP2

    Why do you guys brag about 400 sq km maps when most missions (coop, ctf, dm, etc etc) take place on less than 5 sq km. Even CTI's don't take the whole map. Your acting as if in one mission your playing on every sq inch of the map. And about CTI, to actually enjoy it, you need to play it with a good group of people. And because of JIP, that will be harder and harder to find.

    Well if you read most of the posts where I talk about graphics, you should see that my opinion on it is that I don't care much about graphics (as most people here). Just because I talked about graphics not being top of the line (because a lot of fans make it seem that way) doesn't mean graphics are that important to me. Second, when I talked about the Retaliation, of course I knew that the AI was heavily scripted. But you guys completely missed the point. The point is that if a 3rd party team can come up with a way to make their AI act inteligent in a campaign, theres no excuse for BIS not doing the same in their "official" campaign. It doesn't matter if somebody can come up with a way to script them and make them act super inteligent, as out of the box they are dumb. For people saying the AI are "inteligent" please make a video and proove yourself, because I disagree. Well that covers most of it, and yes I trully believe OFP was better. Here's a small comparison: ARMA vs OFP Campaign -Length-OFP -Quality-OFP Graphics-ARMA Island-Size-ARMA -Details-ARMA Physics-Destructable buildings- OFP. I know it sounds wierd, but the way buildings fall (WTC syle) is very unrealistic and dumb. -Destructable bridges- ARMA -Flight dynamics-At the moment, OFP -Player movement- OFP -Vehicle dynamics- OFP Engine- ARMA. But so far there are little things you can do with it that you can't in OFP in terms of gameplay. -JIP- ARMA. And why should redstorm say a statement as in my signature and get praised for it, and when somebody says that they think OFP is better, the whole forum jumps on them? Aren't you all being hypocrits when it comes to double standards?

    Because I don't see how AI has been improved, so please explain. There are a lot of videos out there showing the horrible AI. Why not make one to show how great the AI is then? About, JIP, I doubt you'll be saying that when most of the servers are empty and there are only a few people to play with at any given time. Larger islands are sure an improvement, but doesn't improve the quality of gameplay. What exactly can you play on it that you couldn't in regular OFP islands?

    Way to totally ignore the entire point of both of my posts. Seriously, good work on that one Half your post wasn't addressed to me, and the other half didn't have much to say with anything I said. And not to mention at all, you came up with something false about what I said. For those of you who say that ARMA AI is better (which is not), go play the retaliation campaign for OFP, and see how the AI should be. JIP is useless if only few people play. Right now, only about 100 people are playing online. Which is pretty poor, even for being released in a few countries. And didn't OFP had terrain streaming? And here's why ARMA isn't better than OFP out of the box. Its called the campaign length and the campaign quality. In quality, its a 2 out of 10 compared to Cold War Crisis.

    You can still argue that it was finish and that the standard is ok. You can use the ARMA poll as evidence that about 60% of the people playing it are happy with it. Its a small majority, but its a majority. You can even go redstorm and say the game is flawless The debate is limitless.

    That means BIS has about 2 months to patch it up, or a lot of Uk customers will be lost. Anyone knows what copy protection 505 uses?

    The harrier can't take off vertically (in this game! Ok, where do I start..... The flight dynamics are flawed, ok flawed. You don't need to be a pilot to understand how planes and choppers fly. You don't need to be an expert to realize that in the game they use pretty much the same code. Take some physics classes, learn what makes a chopper/plane fly, then come back to me. Otherwise stop talking blindly. The community rejects the flight model for a reason and it is being changed for a reason. But if you insist, look at videos of real life choppers and how they fly. Then you can come back to me.

    Flying is bugged as its already confirmed by Suma. It will be fixed in a patch, so its definately bugged. And its not if you can fly or not. Its like having a plane behave like a chopper and saying "It flies, its not bugged!" Low flight, thanks for your insight.

    The community fixing even minor bugs won't work well at all. Why? The simple reason is that whatever the community releases will be release as mods and not patches. So people that don't downlod the mods won't benefit from it. For example, ECP might fix a lot of things and add to the game, but not everybody has ECP. If the work will be implemented as patches, it won't work because the people that did the work will feel as if they were taken advantage of (doing it for free). And above all, it won't look professional for any company to have the communty fix their errors. I agree the the moding tools should be released ASAP, but not for the reason of fixing bugs. People should mod for enjoyment, not to fix errors. And for the people saying : "Oh, it was in development for only 2 years." Even two years, is a pretty long time. The concept was there people, they didn't have to work on it. The engine is an improvement, not completely new. Even the physics engine is an improvement of the OFP physics engine. This is nothing like HL2 where everything as done from scratch. Resistance took less time to make, and in my opinion it delivered more that ARMA. At least it had a very solid campaign to it, and was very stable.

    Listen pal, it doesn't matter if they work the bugs or not. A lot of damage is done already. The question is not if they can work the bugs, but if they can work them out in a given amount of time. This wasn't the case with OFP, as it didn't have super serious bugs that ruin the campaign, and flying. Look at Soldener. They worked out the major bugs, after release, but the damage was done already. Fans wait for patches, but the majority of the gaming players just give up. So you end up with a game that at any time less than 100 people play online. A game like that is good as dead.
