    I'm not using gamespy. http://stats.swec.se:3001/server/statistics It seems it increased to about 400 by now. RO started as a mod but that doesn't help your arguement in this case since a mod is nothing if people don't play it. Do you guys always find excuses for everything? RO can be compared with ARMA since they both had a fanbase before. And the advertisment thing is a joke, are you serious? People don't play the game because its being advertised lol. They might try out the demo, but not play it because its being advertised. And people don't buy and play HL2 because of CS. HL has one of the best FPS storyline there is. Thats what sells HL, not CS. CS is a bonus. If you took the time to read what I said instead of bitching about it, you would realize I took that into account. Also I'm referring to the RO game not the RO mod, which have quite some good differences. And I was comparing it to ARMA (which by the way is also a "new" game if you don't know.) And RO was not a mainstream game in the beginning. It started in a worse position than ARMA. They had no publisher to begin with at all, thats why they started with Steam. Now they have a publisher pretty much all over the world. Your saying that OFP would have died a long time ago if not for mods. Well sorry to break it to you, but from late 2004 until about now, OFP had only few servers with people on. Clan tournaments pretty much died over 2 years ago. Most public servers required no mods to play at all. Then there were few coop and CTI servers that required addons, but they were pretty rare. The mods did help the game to be what it turned out to be, but didn't keep it alive in a very significant way.

    Looking at the statistics, at the moment less than 300 people play ARMA online, more than 250. Remember, its been released online over sprocket, and in 3 different countries. And the hardcore fans (which number less than 500) imported the game in the first week of release. That number is piss poor for a JIP game, especially a new game. Even OFP had more activity. But it's only fair to wait untill it gets released in North America and UK, then make an accurate description. Mods don't keep the game alive, its the people who play it that keep it alive. Mods just add to it. Red orchestra doesn't have any mods for example (except few under development mods and some maps), and thousands play it at any given time.

    I don't think you guys understand the meaning of this poll. I do believe the title is wrong. The poll is about people wanting the OFP movements and freedom (which is pretty accurate for such a game) over the ARMA movements (which make you feel like a robot). Sure you can shoot while you move, but you shoot where your barrel points like in OFP. It seems all you want is this game to be as limeteful as your thinking. (coop only, nothing else ) But you super coop fan boys get back to me in 2 years when this game will turn like a ghost town with few coop servers then and now. Then we'll see who's laughing.

    Well thanks to BIS, dogfighting DM, CTF, or anything that has to do with dogfighting is impossible in ARMA. And CTF isn't all about a square boxed in area where people shoot one another. Its more to it, and not all maps are like that. But whatever. The only think ARMA simulates right now its frustration. And its quite good at doing so.

    Counter Strike is what it is. But at least Valve got bullet penetration right. Bis couldn't even do that right in your precious "simulator". Go find a wodden ramp and try to shoot through it. No bullets go through. Oh, and in Counter Strike, HDR is not a joke like in this game.

    No I haven't done any dogfighting in ARMA as right now I'm only playing the campaign and editing, but I have been doing a lot of flying to just screw around. I love how the helo's fly, but I haven't spend an ungodly amount of time using them in missions or MP, so you may be right, but I will not agree that the old helo flight model was better as it was just a hovering car and I really can't comment on the old aircraft flight model because there was no purpose to flying jets in OFP with such a small viewdistance. I had not problems with the movements of the old game, but I have no problem with the new ones either. I don't want it to feel like a rail shooter with all movements happening at speeds more fitted for a robot than a human, but I agree that there was nothing wrong with OFP movement, but this is a new movement system, now skeletons, all new animations etc, so I don't see it changing. Edit: I'll try out all kinds of dogfighting after work in a couple of hours. I may change my tune. We'll see. Edit2: I take that back. I did fly the single player cobra mission a few times after 1.02. In 1.01 I couldn't even play it more than a couple of minutes, but after 1.02 I won it first try with manual firing and I never crashed once. Well flying is not the problem. I don't think anybody was complaining about flying. Like I said in other posts, air vehicles at the moment are no more than fancy taxi's. But I don't get it, what view distance did you use in OFP? Since your saying it wasn't good enough. Most people in arma play bellow 2000 m btw, and in ofp above 2000 m. I'm assuming you completed the mission ussing FFAR right? Now try against a flying chopper, or better yet use the harrier.

    Well In my opinion, BIS should take away the fix center view and give more freedom to aiming by mouse. Because thats the problem, trying to aim and hit something. Also the choppers seem way too sensitive, as if they are made of paper. And why is the cobra the least maneuverable? Also, the gun camera in KA-50 is useless at the moment, they should take it out or make it like in OFP where you can move it without moving the whole chopper. And if improving it doesn't work they should make it similar to OFP at least. Also why should I make a video to show exactly the same things as in a lot of other videos out there? Waste of time don't you think?

    Ebud, can you dogfight in ARMA against human players, heck even AI? Plane vs plane or chopper vs chopper? Because to me that is impossible. And for player movements, I believe OFP ones were better. Nobody complained about the OFP movements as being "unrealistic" or "too realistic". And I don't see how they simulate movement in a "realistic" way anyway. Some things are better left off from a game. I mean why not hook your mouse up to an electrical wire and have it ZAP you everytime you get hit. Realistic eh?

    I don't have to prove anything, I'm not making a claim. But if you want proof, there are a lot of videos out there. Blackdog made a video a few posts back, you can check it out and see what I mean. And I doubt people think its an improvement over OFP. Since your claiming its realistic, you tell me first why it is, then I'll either agree with your points or disagree by providing proof. Thats how it works, not the other way around.

    Your kidding right? Well tell you what. How about a 1 on 1 dogfight in the legendary ofp dogfighting plane (cessna), special dogfighting map. If you shoot me down once in 10 atempts, I will never post in this forum again. I can even arrange a server for you.

    Thats only for the campaign. It won't change the player movements or anything. But it will be a great idea for somebody to change the animations, player movements, and flight dynamics to OFP style. Even for the cost that you can only play with people using the same mod, I still think its worth it. I think more people will use it then the default ARMA. I'm not sure if the player movements are hardcoded. Edit 1: Enzei, I did read other people's posts too, but that wasn't the point. It seems that you try to jeopardize ARMA as a coop game only, which is clearly not. Thats why BIS included CTF's and Flag fights, even though they didn't realize their game isn't good for such modes. (In its current state). However, there are a lot of people that are CTF players, as well as coop players that will be disappointed by this. But you can only realize this in the future once ARMA will turn into OFP when it comes to online activity. Only ARMA will reach that point way faster than OFP. Time will tell.

    How is it more realistic? I'm sick and tired of people with no knowledge whatsoever of how helicopters fly come here telling others "its more realistic" without even backing up their claim. Its not more "realistic" and there are many videos to prove that.

    Enzei, that chart most likely represents you. Just because your not good enough to play against a "human player" doesn't mean we are all like you. ARMA's not coop only you know. Well so far it looks like it, but it will only affect the game in a negative way.
