  1. These are screens of experimental addons. The most simple textures are used.

    It is planned to make island with entrenchments.

    Also it is planned to publish some models in a MLOD-format without textures (for MOD-developers). That they could use addons with the necessary textures.

    I served in army. For ten years of service I have tried much. To learn me it is already useless. ;) Last post - the ind. tech. company commander.  Therefore I can allow myself some "liberties". Because i know abilities of the weapon and tactics of his application. My opinion - on distance 300m for target destruction it is possible to do without optical systems.

    If you use elite fighters in the missions, reflect as far as are frequently used in in a real life.

    If who has decided to replace regular/usual soldiers with paratroopers it acts absolutely incorrectly. That you would tell if we have replaced (in the company) of all usual americans soldiers with "Delta" or "Green Berets"?

    We plan them (VDV) to use not so frequently.

    There is a work above motorized infantry. The infantry will be used very much frequently.

    Most U.S. Army soldiers can't even consistently hit the 300 meter targets without optical sights.

    Chris, m.b. you are not absolutely right? Modern fight (with application of the automatic weapon) occurs on distances about 1000m (on depth of a battlefield). Therefore the soldier is simply obliged to be able to kill the enemy on such distances the regular weapon. Anyway so is in our army (RF Army). Otherwise it not the professional (IMO). 300m with an optical sight - children's pranks. I do not believe, that the american professional soldiers cannot kill on a distance 300m from a usual rifle. M.b. it is necessary to arm them AK? smile_o.gif


  4. About the RPG's fired at the ranger; There are two types of RPG rounds; one for armour and one for armour/infantry. If you fire a the armour round it will do VERY little area damage and it's very unlikely a person will get killed by it unless he takes a direct hit. The combined armour/infantry round causes shrapnel to fly around and that works a lot better. So perhaps they used the armour round.

    Two types? Three types, at least. If to consider the combined types it is more.

    The list of rounds/grenade for RPG-7V/RPG-7V1:

    1) PG-7V

    2) PG-7VL

    3) PG-7VM

    4) PG-7VR

    5) PG-7VS

    6) OG-7

    7) OG-7M

    8) OG-7V

    9) TBG-7V

    10) ShMV

    If AP grenade will get in the closed space (for example an trench or a helicopter's cabin, however ... enough one wall), effect not small.


  5.  I've also not fired the AK-74 and I'm sure that ORC has some Russian military people on their team who have fired it.  I just hope that they don't make their decisions on its accuracy and range based on purely nationalistic goals rather then the performance of the actual weapons. Engaging targets at 1000m is DEFINITELY a big problem.

    You are right. The team has experts. There are people with fighting experience. No nationalist interests are present. There is a big aspiration to reflect a realistic picture of fight.

    Yet do not discuss the characteristic of separate samples of the weapon. They will be gradually balanced. Let's discuss it later. When weaponpack (with reference to a squad/platoon) it will be completely made, then let's discuss balance.

    Do not forget that we let out balancing pack for West too.  

    Still there are aspects coordinated with complex application of the weapon. If to consider characteristics from this point of view is all correct.


  6. Well the range problem doesn't bother me too much unless I'm on the receiving end of these Russian weapons.  However these guys I don't pit against the US units but prefer to make missions where you play as a Russian paratrooper and fight insurgents or guerillas.  

    However with that said it wouldn't hurt to reduce the engagement range just to bring the units more into balance with other addons.

    Also the RPG-16 definitely needs to have its firepower toned down a bit.  Yes I know, the tandem-warhead rounds can penetrate certain areas of the M1A2 however we are talking OFP here, and the dammage engine in OFP is not realistic so there needs to be a little more balance rather then having "super weapons" that will wipe out all of the heaviest tank addons with one hit.

    Range of defeat we shall not change. For paratroopers is exact.

    About PRG-16. "Super weapon"?  smile_o.gif  More realistic tanks are necessary not only realistic RPG, but also.

    PRG-16 is old system. Today RPG-16 "Grom" it is a little used (it is very-very few used, as it is replaced with newer systems). But grenades to it are used new. The new grenades is based on PG-7VR (RPG-7V1 grenade). Guaranteed penetration - not less than 600mm. The similar munition is used in RPG-29 "Vampir" (650mm penetr.)

    Characteristics RPG will be balanced in process of addition of new models and analysis of tanks.


  7. What about symbols on officers beret? It looks little stupid when it have modern russian flag, and USSR star(am i wrong?) at once.....

    Cocarde with a star (symbol of Soviet Army/Red Army) are the fact/symbol of a recognition of service in battle of paratroopers during WW2 and other conflicts. These are army traditions... it is the award at once to all parachuters.

    Precisely also nobody took away banners/flags (red banners with the Soviet symbolics) of the deserved divisions.

    Still I agree that there should be a more dispersion on the weapons which is why I like using the JAM HD ammo.

    It is a first (public) attempts to use new weaponpak. Dispersion to correct it is possible. May be... May be...

    Not absolutely so.

    Only paratroopers (VDV) have blue berets. Black berets - marines. Red - special forces of the Ministry of internal affairs (MVD). Berets a unusual occurrence in RF Army. In the Soviet Army too. smile_o.gif Berets - a symbol of elite.

    Usual (regular) soldiers/officers do not put on them. Without dependence from a rank.

    I was the officer in Russian Federation Army. I express the point of view of my colleagues about it. The helmet is used only in intensive fights (with application of artillery, for example). At recon operations (or tactical landings) the helmet prevents. Helmet (cevlar/metall) will not protect from a bullet (a neck will break in any case). What for a superfluous cargo?
