What I'm saying with that point is that most people would rather hassle with keys and everything to lock our house and feel that our possessions in the house are safe and will be there when we come back, rather than keeping the house unlocked and hope that someone will not come and take all your things away. Door lock or an burglar alarm would dissuade an honest individual from even attempting such an act, while a dishonest one would find a way to circumvent it because he wants the stuff inside. That's basically the way most copy protection works, for an honest individual, it's easier to buy the game and activate it online knowing it's going to work rather than hassle with bypassing the copy protection. As for will A2 have online activation/reactivation/whatever, I doubt anyone will be able to tell you that until the game reaches the shelves, and potentially it might depend on the region like with A1.

Well said ch_123, ...but if the world was lawless, more people would do such things. Metal Detectors, Security cameras, ID cards, door locks, they're all there for the exact same reason software protection/activation is in place. Keeping the honest people honest. Dishonest people will do those things regardless. Just like you drive up to the lord of border crossings and beg and grovel for entry into a foreign country, let's not mention the lord of all the places that require you to show your ID to enter, and as CH_123 mentioned, the lord of all the online activities that require you to have an account and a password, like these forums. Imagine if these forums worked only on username basis, no password, or when withdrawing money from your bank account, and they took only your word that you're genuine holder of that account. In the end, if you really don't want the hassle of online activations on games and dealing with copy protections, grab a console and you're set.

Just tried them out, top notch work guys, as always. :) The adjusted point of view for some reason makes the game feel very different for me, on the good side tho.

Funky pattern emerges within this community, when the features are requested ("OMG FLIR! Just slap some filters, shaders, makeup, eyeliner and it's done in a day!") , everything easy and doable in 5 mins, when the bugs are spotted ("OMG radio voices, will they be able to fix it in 3 months? qq"), they're labeled as impossible to fix in 3 months.

Well, from my point of view, discussing one topic on fifteen threads isn't really benefiting anyone, and it makes it easier to search for info without having to look in those fifteen different places. Having pointless spam-threads isn't contributing to the forums or it's community in any way. As for the workload, there's a few good things about this community, amongst many other qualities, there's the self-policing () and lack of tolerance for bull. Having active community which doesn't appreciate such posts and frequents the use of the report button makes our jobs that much easier. On the other hand most people that create threads about questions that have been answered to death before are the ones who are too lazy to use the search function. The spam thread starters will either learn and adapt to the community, or play the "OMG DEMOCRACY! FREEDOM OF SPEECH! I can say whatever crap I want and then defend myself by accusing the moderators to be the oppressors!" card until they get themselves banned or get bored when they realise that nobody gives a damn.

Yup, that's exactly the part of the vid I was talking about, I just assumed it was placeholder graphic for commander view cursor (Numpad .) since the POV seems like it, but guess not.

Anyways, rewatching the vid, A2 specific things that I've noticed demonstrated aswell are: - UI Scaling, bottom left unit overview thing and radio messages aren't huge as in other screens/videos. - Different variations of eyewear, aviators, etc actually having their own 3D models instead of a defined selection as in OFP - Some details on NV goggles, like LCD's in the helo, NV noise (best spotted in the zoomed in NV goggles in the chopper section, could be just video compression on the other hand). - Huge command view crosshair. :P - Formation Diamond - I can't seem to spot the Aimpoint dot in the actuall device itself, parallax mapping worked out in the end or the face just got moved further to the front of the device?

Pretty awesome demonstration of both products, even tho I doubt I'll be using TIR due to it's price, it's nice to see how much A1 > A2 has improved in the TIR implementation department, as A1 seems to have distinct delay in your A1 TIR demonstrations, which I can't notice in A2.

He-says-she-says like the stuff on EA forums can turn both ways really, while I'm hoping that CM at least pushes out a respectable product, just for the sake of not giving the name a bad rep, I'm thinking that if they're actually thinking of canning the title, that might be the better move for the brand preservation, but I highly doubt it, since I believe they're committed a bit too far at this point. Welcome to the BI forums. I'm sure you'll find the forums to be very much alive. As for the release date, I'm sure you can find the answers in one of the other existing threads. Search button is there to make looking for such info easier. Only thing that can result from this offtopic thread is crosstrolling and bickering, so a preventive lock is in order.

You should be able to play earlier missions without loosing campaign progress by using "Replay Mission" button instead of "Revert" button.

I understand you guys are trying to help, but by doing so, you're doing exactly the thing we don't want you to, and that is, steering this thread offtopic. For now I think we're fine with having discussions about press releases here, but steering offtopic isn't tolerated too much. Line between ontopic and offtopic in this thread is blurry as is, and the best way to help it is by restraining yourself to post when it's in that blurred area. From my point of view, having to come here and post warnings every few hours isn't helping the situation either. On the other hand, I believe major ArmA2 fansites (Which seem to track and post new infos from this thread pretty fast) and ArmA2.com and all have the capability of RSS feeds which can be used to track new ArmA2 information without having to exclusively rely on this thread alone. Replying to my post won't help either, so don't do it. :bored:

I suggest not starting with the trolling attitude in the first place. On the side note, the concept of it all is interesting, but we'll see what we'll get with the final product. It's hard not to remember Soldner when looking at something like this.
