  1. My thoughts on the upcoming DLC and those who still haven't pre-purchased it

    • BI have always been good at allowing users to scale back the graphic quality of its games and add-ons to allow a range of players to enjoy the different maps. Case in point, as PC technology has improved, gamers have increased their quality of graphics in the Arma series. I enjoy much more eye-candy in Arma 3 than I did when first playing Arma 2
    • Pretty much its going to be all-Tanoa all the time server-wise when the game is released (aside from life-type game-wide mods of course).
    • Arma players need to look at their buying history. Are you the sorts that ends up owning all the DLC? If yes, you should pre-purchase for the savings or understand while the rest of us are raving about the new expansion, you'll need to wait for a sale to enjoy those same savings. If if its not about the money and you do own all the expansions, then just buy it! Its like arguing at the bar whether you're going to do that last shot of the night or not - just man-up and slam it back :)
    • If you're not the sort that buys all the DLC, asking a gaming company to fit into a never used box is like making a chef overcook a steak when you don't eat meat

    Fan-boy alert!!!

    • BI are one of the few gaming companies that not only work closely with its player-base, they continue to improve on its product waaaaaaay after we've already paid them. Even add stuff we've asked for such as Zeus and Eden. This isn't the norm in gaming anymore and aside from sending the occasional case of beer (which is done often and again, rare in the gaming world) the only way to support and thank them is to buy the DLC's. Guess what, you get something for your money!

Finally, to those who haven't bought it, don't be the ones sitting on the cyber-beach who forgot their swimming trunks. Buy the darn thing so you join the rest of us in the warm, tropical Tanoa waters on day one!

Thank you for this, to be honest I dont even know why I waited this long. Purchased and very happy about it, thanks again for the pep talk, the extra push. I love BIS, I have loved OFP, ARMA for more than 75% of my entire life, I think its safe to say I am, we are customers for life.

  2. So let me ask you then babylonjoke, why do you play ArmA? If you are so unhappy why are you even here and not playing CS:GO? Stop wasting your time, life is short.

Edit: guess someone already asked you. Didn't read your entire post, yeah you did pay money for it and you do have the right to give poor feedback.

But I guess now that we know that there is no real practical end game for you, we can move on and stop wasting our words on you...

    ---

    Next!

I am with the camp that you can make ArmA what you want; from super military role playing infantry simulator to har har zombie apocalypse demon jumping shoot em up. That's the beauty of it.

  3. I'm not sure how that happened but it did start when I finally got the compasses working as far as that's concerned. As for the minis... my screwup and a quick fix. As far as being able to "hop inside" that's game logic, and probably something I can't control.

Hmm I wonder if it would be possible to utilize or trick the system into doing the turn out/turn in action that is usually found in tanks as a solution...

  4. I`ve tried the (very performance demanding) version from PhoenixSPM and the newest from solanos hp. Singleplayer works like a charm but with BE enabled I get white screen....

Well they did say it was "White listed" :p

Doh! Thanks! Though I guess it still doesnt work :(

  5. Guys, no jet sounds like that IRL ^^ Its just that you never heard such an effect in a game before and because of weak jet sounds over the years we all associate this noise with a jet. But if you are ingame with DFyre, you can clearly hear whats a jet and whats a approaching car, you might just have to get used to it over time. I got real quick.

Tho I will still tweak some things here and there and will probably lower them a little. :)

    LJ

    I love it! Thanks LJ!!

  6. Loving those screens LJ! That M14 is sick too. (Personal add on?)

Not only that, it would require a lot more performance, ArmA is not a very well utilized game after all. Was just an idea tho, seeing all the extra graphical settings ENB adds to Skyrim for example I would really like to see them in ArmA, even if it is just good for Screenshots due to bad performance.

    EDIT:

Added more pictures to the album: http://imgur.com/a/XVLMj

@Solano maybe wanne link them to the front page of this link, I'm fine with it ;)

  7. Mind you, you have to read between the lines due to what I perceive as the author's Rocket bias, but the way that article paints the quotations of Maruk's an Arma 3 that was thematically in the style of Arma 2 (setting-wise) was never in the cards because Arma 3 itself wasn't at first.

100%; calling it "Dean Hall's Game" is a complete joke. No ArmA or OFP, no DayZ simple as that. Skilled addon/mod maker? Yes- but as events have proven, not a game developer at all.

  8. likely doesn't mean it is confirmed, as per your first post that i've replied to. I am not nitpicking here, just making sure thing that have been talked about doesn't go under "confirmed", especially since there has been cases before (java for instance) that were later considered by people things that were removed or scraped although those were "just as confirmed" as the dx12.

And btw, dx11, hell, even dx9 supports RT reflection shaders - the water in this case)

This. Yeah we had reflective water in OFP (as a mod but still.).

  9. Considering Altis' origin the look may have been intentional... whereas Tanoa's assets were presumably all (I'm certain most were) made specifically for Arma 3.

Wow. That article. Scary stuff, but now everything makes sense, as in everything that had happened to this company and this series makes sense now. Thank you for sharing this.

  10. Thank You!! Not sure why BIS keeps removing features as this was in OFP and I'm sure an ArmA or 2 -- very disappointing. But you and people like you are rebuilding it which I am forever greatful.

  11. It has been already said the past that the expansion will be focused on Civilians. Of course it was not intended to be A3L or any other RPG related thing, however it's still a weird coincidence that the only leaked screens shows something absolutly not related to war. I'm glad to see finally a real civilian faction but I'm a bit scared it will only bring benefits to RPG mods rather then Arma 3.

From "this is war" by looking at the guy on the motorboat looks more like "This is summer, time to party". Just a first impression tho, and I'm curious to see how it actually is.

Mainly I want to see if REAL underground buildings have been added.

Just wondering where it was said or confirmed that it will be focused on civilians? Hopefully as in guerrilla warfare. We need better run down technicals imho.

  12. I really hope the civilian stuff in the screen shots are really all there is.

Hope the civilian additions are super limited, Arma is a mil sim after all.

Pft wtf? The amount of civilian stuff is what made OFP and Resistance a great milsim game and more immersive. I hope the BIS doesn't have too much fallout from this leak. I'm sure they had contracts with the event planners and sponsors.
