Flashpoint in the Falklands: Dead?
sputnik monroe replied to ofp_fan's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
That's a little creepy, it sounds like he’s propositioning you for sex. -
Tankie, The Frenchpoint team have a Mistal system released that looks similar to that starstreak. Are they perhaps the same weapon, just called a different name by the French and British?

The library feature in game2 sounds excellent. That to me is the most exciting feature mentioned in the entire article. I think addon creators will definitely start working on standards for sure when game 2 comes out. It will be much easier to cull over or under powered addons from you mod folders when you can simply bring up the overall stats and compare them against other addons and real data. I only wish this feature could have made it in to Arma, sounds like it's worth the wait though.

Hmmm... Â I suppose I'll go over this point by point. Â So are all politicians. Â Â That is the dream of every politician. Â Â Some of them are some and some of them are not. As for the ones against national security they usally aren't outright against it, just indifferent. Â Â That in a nutshell is the method and motives of all politicians. Â Â So are all politicians. Â Â Once again that is what all politicians do. They claim they are just like you and say what you want to hear. Â The same way you can "really trust a neosocialist democrat" or "really trust X" (where X is any other party you can think of.) Â Wake up and smell the coffee Walker.

What's wrong with buying Danish products? I was just making my stance on the subject clear. I didn't want people to mistake my sarcastic "Allah'u Akbar" post as being a literal show of support for the films message.  As for your Fox news comment, that simply shows you are blinded by ideology. The fact of the matter is that all the major news outlets world round are equally corrupt and untrustworthy, I despise them all. However your comment focusing purely on Fox news shows you to be of the hopelessly blinded contingent that believes Fox news some how has a monopoly on spin. In short you're part of the "Fox news is corrupt" camp, while I am part of the "media is corrupt camp",(Fox news is part of the media by the way)   Yeah I saw the AK wielding "freedom fighters". Yet the US soldier in the video walks directly at the woman, levels his rifle at here at about two feet and fires one shot (one kill) then moves on. It’s not a cross fire at all. Ideologue? What is an ideologue, well dictionary.com defines it as “An advocate of a particular ideology, especially an official exponent of that ideologyâ€.  So I contend that we are both ideologues. I advocate the ideology that both sides are responsible for civilian deaths while you seem to be supporting the ideology that the “crusaders†are solely responsible and that suicide bombers are tragic heroes who justifiably seek revenge. Oh the beauty of youth, blinded by cartoonish stereotypes. You disagree with me, therefore I must be an O’Reilly fan right? I suppose based on your obviously spoon fed cookie cutter stereotype impression of me I’m sure you assume that I also listen to Rush Limbaugh, live in Texas, watch NASCAR, voted for Bush and am an evangelical Christian? You preach that there is no black and white and that all is a shade of gray, It’s amusing coming from some one who applies such cookie cutter stereotypes.  In my life I have been called an anarchist, a fascist, a socialist, a hippie, a redneck, a communist, a right winger, a left winger, a democrat, a republican, an atheist, a Christian, a heathen, a Jew, a traitor, a patriot, a fanatic, an apathetic doomsayer and the list goes on and on. It never ceases to amaze me the hilarious stereotypes that have been lumped on me through out my life.   I swear, I don’t think anyone  really knows who I am or what my beliefs are. That still doesn’t stop people from trying to stamp a generalization on me for easier classification and prejudice.  As for the video “eliciting such passionâ€. I hate to say it but I’m really bored and have nothing else better to do. Why else would I be discussing a video game movie with a complete stranger on the internet? It’s pathetic really.  A good novel or a beautifully composed piece of music elicits passion from me. All this movie really does is to mildly disappoint me.

I Just want to be clear, when I did that little “Allah'u Akbar!†junk I was being sarcastic.  Personally I think the story line is incredibly flawed. US troops intentionally shoot an unarmed woman from two feet away? If you believe that kind of situation occurs then you obviously subscribe to the “US army are a bunch Nazi SS murders†bologna propagated by Wahhabist and Jihadist .  Do innocent bystanders die in Iraq? You bet they do. They die from accidents from all sides just as in every war ever fought. There is the common misconception by the youth of today that when a civilian dies in Iraq it was because coalition forces killed them (or if you’re of the same mindset as the director of this video, then coalition forces walked up and shot them death squad style.). When a civilian dies it’s more often than not a tragic side effect of war, not a planed act. If there is a firefight and civilians are present, they might get caught in the crossfire, if a group of “freedom fighters†is shooting at coalition troops from within a crowd of children, horrible things happen, it’s a sad fact.  The “freedom fighters†(read terrorist) that the youth of the west idolize so much cause the majority of civilian deaths. I’ve seen so many videos of “freedom fighters†shooting mortars blindly in the vague direction of US bases in Iraq. The result of which is that the morons drop mortar rounds all over residential neighborhoods and market districts killing and maiming hundreds of non combatants each week. Couple that with the outright intentional murders and terrorist bombings of civilian targets by different religious sects and you’ll find that your “freedom fighters†have killed way more than their fair share of civilians compared to coalition forces who do their damnedest to avoid it. If you believe that coalition forces don’t go out of their way to avoid civilian deaths you are just hopeless. Even if they were every bit as heartless and cold blooded as you make them out to be, they still would be avoiding civilian deaths just because of the hassle it makes.  That isn’t reflected at all in this video. It’s all the US soldiers fault, they walked up to her and shot her intentionally. The US troops in the video are dehumanized, simply shown as steely eyed waffen SS out on a killing spree. How about the civilian noncombatants on the street who get wounded or killed by the suicide bomb? Don’t answer I already know, it’s the US army’s fault, all civilian deaths are their fault.  If the director was really trying to just “show all the sides†of the conflict he would of come up with a much more believable story that showed the situation from all sides. Instead we get this piece of Islamic pornography.  So in short, I think the story is a Jihadist wet dream written by a youth who is blinded by fanaticism. However the directorial aspect of the film was very well done. We have here the Steven Spielberg of Wahhabist propaganda films.

Allah'u Akbar! Allah'u Akbar! Allah'u Akbar! Â You should upload this to some of the Chechen and PLO web sites, this is right up their alley. Â Allah'u Akbar! Death to the zionest crusaders! Allah'u Akbar! Â Honestly though, apart from the subject matter it was a well made video and the directorial style was very well done. You definitely have a directors eye.

Had a lot of fun tonight. Good games all. I've touched up my mission a little bit more and I think it's in Final form now. I've changed the behavior of the trench troops a little and made it where the Finnish advance on Hill 115 is handled a little different. The Finnish advance now is scheduled for 10:00 AM while the mission begins at 9:45 AM. In this way you have 15 minutes to scout and prepare for the coming battle. I'm hoping now to complete work on my other two missions soon. It's been very time consuming working on three different missions simultaneously,

Simple solution then, don't click this thread. No one is forcing you to read it.  Here is a group of Russian videos. http://video.google.com/videopl....pl=true  The first one has some really interesting BTR80 footage. I didn't realize it could turn in place, perhaps in OFP it should be configured as a tank?
-
I'll have to give that training mission a shot. The first time I used the mortar was that one mission on Winter Maldevic where you have to conquer the whole eastern half. I remember I did excellent with it and every one (including my self) was surprised and said good job. However the next two times we set up the mortar and I used it in the mission I did awful and undid any praise I may have got earlier heh heh. I think the third time I never hit a single target. In my defense I must say the third time I was on a hill that was higher than the target, it made estimating the range very difficult.

I can't believe there isn't a military video thread already. This could end being a good resource or mod makers also. I found a good video of Russian military equipment that I'll post tonight some time if I can find it.

Sanctuary your picture made me laugh for the first time all day heh heh.

Oops... I saw the decimal point in the opticszoommin, then my mind hallucinated and saw decimal points that don't exist in the distance zooms. Sorry.

I've updated my mission one more time. All I have done is to increase the strength of the Finnish force a bit. I changed the Player controlled BT 42 (1942) to a T34/76 and added a single BT 42 (1942) to each of the two AI squads that make up East Jaeger. So in short I added two Finnish AI tanks and changed a player controled one. Anyone have any further suggestions or feedback?

You do not need the last zeroes though it'll work just fine like this and looks much cleaner in the config... opticsZoomMin=0.017; opticsZoomMax=0.12; distanceZoomMin=26; distanceZoomMax=9;

Rather than give a long story I'll just give you the situation. Earlier today I managed to saturate my pants with gasoline. Well no one I've talked to has had a solution to my problem or any advice, so I'll ask you all what I've asked my friends and family. Â Do any of you know a good home remedy for cleaning gasoline out of a pair of jeans? I figure this is an international forum, there has to be some one in the world who knows a solution. Â I don't have much clothing so the loss of a pair of pants is actually rather bad for me. I also don't exactly have money at the moment for more pants. (to add insult to injury I just bought the pair of pants two weeks a go. My first new pants in 2 or 3 years)

I thought the fictional Malden islands were supposed to be in the Baltic?

I hope they include them anyway in the editor for custom made missions. That's the one thing I'm some what dreading about arma, we will have to wait again 3 years for excellent US troops and then 4 for excellent russian troops (and poor old England will never have a complete OOB it seems).

Currently humans only use a fraction of their brain as it is. Not a juvenile insult but a fact. So why bother giving people more brain matter they wont use? I like this one though...

GS faces for Llauma head model
sputnik monroe replied to sputnik monroe's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
No, this is simply an addition to the facetex.pbo for Llauma's head model. The original BIS head model and Llauma's head model use different mapping technics so the faces for each are note interchangeable. -
That is what I'm afraid of. I totally agree with what you said about the immersion, I want to be "part" of the team, not "the team".  I also agree with this. It could be used for good things, for example: You begin a mission as a COC combat diver model. You swim to shore have a fire fight on the beach. Once the battle is over the screen fades to black with text that says "Hiding scuba gear and gathering equipment". Next it fades from black back to the mission and your player model is now a Laser land warfare SEAL in woodland uniform. Currently that is impossible to do with current OFP, your forced to wear the scuba gear the entire mission.  My only gripe with it has to do with switching from character to character mid mission. If it's something you do once at the begining of the mission only, basically a character select and then you play the whole mission as that peson then that's cool. It's also cool as a system for changing the characters model mid mission, but still you are the same character. I just don't want to see Rainbow 6 or Ghost Recon style AI baby sitting, it really does kill the immersion when your not an individual, one man as part of a team.  Time will tell.

Will the signs be an option on the desert HMMWVs or will it be on all of them permanently?

Do you have the DMA arab faces Tex pack? http://files.filefront.com/dma_facetex1rar/;4867464;;/fileinfo.html

The frame rate is amazing. I've never played a new release that ran this smooth ever. My frame rate stayed at a solid 75 and never once blinked. If my refresh rate was set higher I'm sure it would have run even faster.

Something I notice people tend to forget a lot... The cold war wasn't just between the US and the USSR. Believe it or not Europe was involved also. Most people I talk with or hear from seem to lament the fall of the Soviet Union. Heck it's pretty much pop culture belief that the wrong side won the cold war
