The AMX-10RC is absolutly adapted to fight T-55 and BMP, as many 10RC are currently operating in Africa. If you meet a T-72 or stronger, then .... run for your life  I'll add one thing, which needed many hours from Flo_Wer and Bip-Bip : For players who like to play as tank gunners but weeps as they is no mean to aim targets at long range, the current gunner sights of the Leclerc and the AMX-10RC are fully usable in OFP. Once you know the distance to the target, just apply the needed elevation shown on the sight. You can now kill target at 2000 meters with a great one shot one hit probability. So, against stationnary targets, it's rather... BULLEYES  Le tank commander detect a BMP at 1786 m. The gunner can confirm range, and give the gun the needed elevation angle, while at maximum zoom. In order to shoot an OFL APFSDS shell, the gunner brings the 18 back sight adjuster into alignement with the targeted BMP. FIRE.... HIT ! for this demonstration, soviet troopers were neither wounded or bad-treated. The BMP-1 was empty. The shot only need one unique OFL 105 F3 shell.

10 rc is realistic : wheels not for direction, it's wheels, but work like tanks for turn... The 10RC has many common points with the 10P : same automotive components, aluminium armor,... The AMX-10RC, unless making a mistake needing to be corrected, is the sole wheeled AFV with a tank level mobility. With its ajustable height suspension components, the crew can modify the AFV banking, in order to get in the best balanced firing position on slopes. Its basic Aluminium armor protects it against all machineguns (probably from a certain distance against the heaviest MGs like the 14.5mm KPVT). The armor protection level have been increased since with small space armor, loosing simultaneously its amphibious capability. Its detection capabilities were also improved when replacing the DVT-13 light intensifier camera with the DIVT-16 thermal camera. However, its low recoil 105mm F2 gun has not the power of the F1 (AMX-30) or M68 L7 (remember the AGS' stability problem when firing its L7 gun). As the 10RC, and its computerized firing control, was developped for firing HEAT as main ammunition, its APFSDS round was less developped, as it use the same penetrator as ERC-90's 90mm APFSDS round, for just an initial velocity increase of 50m/s. Nevertheless, those rounds are powerfull enough to blow 1st generation tanks, like Leopard1, T-55, T-62 (not up-armored models). Moreover, the 10Rc has no gun stabilization system, penalizing it for fire-on-the-move. It is not a Main Battle Tank. Using it as such, in OFP and in reality will kill you faster. The AMX-10RC is a recon AFV, or a Heavy Weapon Vehicle . Fairly modern when starting duty, the 10RC can be considered outmoded when compared to more recent wheeled HW AFVs like the italian Centauro. Anecdotically, during the Conventionnal Weapon Control negociations in Vienna, the Soviet Union demand that the 10RC should be considered as a MBT Â

I've seen this documentary when it was on screen a few monthes ago. My opinion is that good questions had been asked. However many answers were not based on facts but on rumours and suppositions. The explaination about the Mk48 torpedo puzzled me a lot, and I didn't find any satisfying answers on the net (FAS, ...). I also fear that some answers where not understtod and were tainted of ideological depleted uranium mouvment. I remember well that a so-called expert explained that the warhead was made of Depleted uranium, supposed to vaporize with incendiary effects inside the targeted submarine.... He also explained that the torpedo was autonomously able to aim a precise vulnerable area of the submarine (impossible with a passive sonar, and would need a sob of computer and program in order to identify the sub, recognize its silouhette, determine the front and aft parts and then aiming the vulnerable area). I don't know if this is truly possible, but all of this sounds Sci-Fi to me I read that some modern torpedoes have Directed Energy warheads, acting like a HEAT warhead, which role is to counter double-hulled russian submarines. But with a 300kg warhead for a Mk48 torpedo, what would be the use of DU and pyrophoric effect ? Another hypothesis was that a US sub crashed into the Kursk. The Kursk was badly sunk and the US sub, badly mauled, managed to sail to a NATO's harbour But, How could a 6900+ tons single-hulled Los angeles survived to a crash into a 16000+ tons double-hulled Oscar II, while the heavier sunk ? I'm not expert enough to tell the truth, but those two points among many others made me think about this report as "good journalist answers, bad amateur answers".

For the first time, an island adapted for motorized combat is done, with extended road infrastructure, excellent for recon, for observation missions, with many possibilities to bypass enemy positions. Not a map being just a collection of small battlegrounds, being high quality ones with the tremendous Mapfact addons or not (Mapfact Nogova is also a great island but roads and trails are really missing ). Using few addons also helps small PC configurations and don't oblige to download heavy addons for server and players. It also gives more "place" on servers for units addons.

On the currently done part of the island, fuel stations are missing (or I really miss them ). It could be cool to have holidays places, like a nice seaside village with nice beaches, or a mountain station. Nothing is implented yet in the mountains, but mountain trails would be nice too

How many were you playing ? Currently, on our server, we are playing Players vs Players missions like "Convoy Escort vs Ambush". With around 20 players within 5-6 units acting near side by side, some of us had some difficulties... on Everon But this kind of game is far more exciting versus humans and using Teamspeak, one channel per side About roads, in order to improve recon on wheels and motorized combat, some roads may be added : - connecting Barmatov and Baljenov - from Korovask to Tjukorsk - seaside, from Kislovodsk to Voronezh - connecting the road between Korovask and Tyulska to Volkova, through Point 302 (Eb-30) and 267 (Ed-38) - trails connecting roads - trails inside the woods This map is too much, even if I dream about the day I'll see it finished

I've just tested it, and I really fall in love with. It is the map I was waited for so long, a map adapted for motorized combat and recon, a real countryside It reminded me my years of recon combat on jeep. The road infrastructure is really good. With a bit more roads and trails, map reading in vehicle will become a must-have skill for all commanding players There's a point I fear. The map may have too many objects (fences,...) in town that may prevent cooperative games from being smooth When your map will be finished, it could be possible to make a more coop-friendly map with fewer objects.

Is it Inquisitor M60A1 or FFUR's Patton ? The 105mm M-900 APFSDS was only available in 1990-1991. In 1985 were available : - M-735 (it seems that the M-735A1 was never deployed) - M-774 (1981-82) - M833 (1984-85)

The new models and the new textures rock a lot About Hyaku-Shiki, we also had his permission to use them, and he even sent us the mlods. However, the file was corrupted, and we didn't manage to have an answer from him since I hope nothing bad happened to him

Thanks Przezdzieblo for the data about the gravity gun,... and for all  9.4 was calculted from an unbearable system born from my messed mind. Half this value (seemed too strong) and you've got 4.7  So I restarted all, easier. But it's actually untested. So, the Philosophal stone hasn't been found yet  All values are not definitive : All ideas and corrections are welcome

True, it prevents us to play US troops alongside British ones for others operations/hand-made missions. We only have US troops fighting British troops. Have I missed something during the Cold War ? Or is a new Independance War coming along ? But, Argentinian governement war really far from being communist. Rather the opposite. So East side is also a non-sense for them. Effectively, the best choice would logically be Resistance for Argentina, able to fight UK and USSR with its allies. However, within the same logic, I do hope that Argentina in 1982 : Flashpoint in the Falklands will be configurated as Resistance and not East, as it would be as senseless as UK being in Eastern side.

I was starting to think the topic was dead  Przezdzieblo is also a very reliable source of data, andI think I'll have to ask a lot to him about eastern tanks' equipments  I was, not so long ago, testing armorstructural values. Results are rather odd  For exemple, against a T-72BV with Armor=445, Turret=880, Hull=910 and engine=390 : Armorstructural : 9.4 - against OFL120 (hit=897;indirectHit=10;indirectHitRange=1;explosive=false;) => Blown-up after 2 frontal hits - against OFrP Eryx (hit=1000;indirectHit=400;indirectHitRange=3.00) and APILAS (hit=700;indirectHit=200;indirectHitRange=3.0) => Blown-up after 3 Eryx hits and one APILAs hit Armorstructural : 4.7 - against OFL120 => Blown-up after 1 frontal hit - against OFrP Eryx => Blown-up after 2 Eryx hits Also, whatever the aimed part of the front side of the targeted tank (hull, track, front side turret), the main gun is always the hit part  It seems that in the AFV's p3d, there's something making the gun being always hit when attacked directly from front of it... So, I'd like to test what I am thinking about for the AS value, which would depends on : - size of the AFV : light (armor protecting against some AIs' light weapons), Medium (imprevious against light weapons) and heavy (tanks) - type of armor (advices from Przezdzieblo become more than important) : steel, laminate 1st & 2nd gen., chobham 1st, 2nd (Dorchester type) and third gen. ("Satory") - additionnal armor : ERA 1st, 1.5 and 2nd gen., DU, Spaced, BDD type - additionnal protections : against mines, hardened/protected top, spall liner - Heavy ammo protection : none, protected (armored bins,... as Challenger, Ariete), Partially compartmentalized (around 50% ammos, as Leclerc, Leopard 2), Fully compartmentalized (around 90% ammos, as Abrams) - others : petrol engine, Power turret (manual/electric vs hydraulics/electro-hydraulics Currently, tanks are ranging from 1.5 (T-55) to 7.5 (Leopard 2A6Ex). T-80U has 5.5 (because of no ammo protection and no AT mines protections). But I think I'll need more accurate data about some tanks, especially eastern ones. I'm also thinking about increasing tandem HEAT warhead direct damages by 20%, instead of splitting HEAT damages.
