Hi all, I've thrown up a p4 2.4Ghz dedicated server w/ 1GB RDRAM. I know the max fps is 50 but the fps on my server never goes higher than 32, even when nothing is going on and I alone am sitting in the lobby. Even when playing, it rarely drops below 32. Is there a setting I'm missing that is limiting this server to 32 FPS? Shortbus

BIS, please revise your patch process. I've been recruiting people to play flashpoint but it's a tough sell when they have to download multiple patches to play online. My friend uninstalled, reinstalled Resistance twice because he wasn't sure which patches to download and install. I had to remotely take control over his computer, download the right patches, and install them for him. Can we please have a single "fix 'em all" patch. I know this isn't an issue for most of us because we're smrt but for regular casual users, this is too complicated of a process. As far as I know, flashpoint has sold over a million copies yet when I play online, there are only a hundred or so spread across many servers. So either the other 999,900 players just don't like flashpoint or the process of playing online is too dificult for them. Let's make the first step easier for the regular user and allow them to download a single patch. Thankyou.

See what I mean, even people who think they know how to patch correctly aren't doing it the right way!

I haven't seen anyone talk about performance when running all 3 monitors at once. Any specs w/ this card? I guess the only variables would be CPU and Memory since you can only do this w/ one type of video card.

Ok, now I know people repeating questions is an annoyance and a quick search for "disabling parachutes" didn't return any decent results so I'm posting this question. How does one disable parachutes on a Win32 dedicated resistance server?

great! Thanks... only sucks this isn't a global thing that can be applied to all maps, not only the ones that have been designed to use it.

Alright, here's my setup... 2 client pc's behind a single Linksys SOHO NAT router. Problem - When a single PC is connected through the router, no connection problems exist. When two PC's are connected, the ping on one is higher then the other to the same server, and occassionaly both computers lose connections at the same time. Solutions - This sounds like the router is having a hard time figuring out which packets to send to which PC. We've had this same problem with Half-Life. We corrected it by specifying, on each machine through the shortcut to the HL executable, the client port that the server should respond to. After doing this, we've had no problems with Half-Life. I'm wondering if there is a feature like this for Flashpoint.

I fly as low as it can go. Forget the big birds, give me the small little choppers and I'm gone! Littlebird's and oh-58's all the way! That littlebird addon is great cause on one, I think you can fit like 6 players on it for a quick drop off. The little ones are SO easy to maneuver and get in tight areas. Very responsive to those that know how to control them. I usually fly blackhawks about 20m to avoid trees, pull a turn, whip out that tail, and bring it down nice n easy. And there's nothing like taking a blackhawk w/ machine gun and circling over a city. Scares the hell outta the people on the ground below.

looking for a lan party in Illinois that'll play OFP
-
If I can get enough people, I'll host one at the local park district here in Oak Forest. The only thing I don't like about the lanparties I've been too is that they play too many diferent games. It'd be more fun if everyone at the lanparty played a single game.

Drop ICS, go for a real NAT firewall and your problems will disappear. If you're using cable, Best Buy currently has a deal for a cable/dsl router with 4 port switch, maybe 5 port, for like $50.

" I mean, are we going to get a stand alone Demo with the netcode, similar to the first MP public demo, or will it be a beta patch for ofp like the 1.26, 1.27 and 1.29 beta patches" And if you do release a beta patch, will it be possible to run both instances of OFP? I mean, will a server be able to host both an officialy patched server and then a beta patched server?

When FragHaus finally got to a good map, meaning one with a worthy objective, I said "great! Finally a map worth playing." Ya know what happened? People were so used to being childish from the other maps that you run so the whole team started to TK each other. I wasn't quick to dismiss the server though, I played for another week and night after night it was a repeat. Maybe FragHaus does have some good players, but they certainly didn't show their skill when I played there. Stoners is competitive night after night and runs a great set of maps.

Haha, I was trying to be polite but if you really want a battle, you know where I'll be ;-)
-
Promoting my server? Do you think I'm an Admin at Stoners? I just play there every day because the levels they run appeal to me. Also, I'm not bashing or challenging FragHaus. You guys have your own niche and that's fine. It's just not for me and from the looks of it, it's not for some of the other people here either.

Sure, It's listed on the "All Seeing Eye" server list but here's the IP (209.163.146.143:2234).

How can you fail to mention "Stoners House of Pancakes?" They run a fast server, maybe not as fast as the FragHause ones, but fast enough to where I hardly ever notice lag. I'm on cable and on an average, I get a 90 ping at Stoners where I can get a very steady 60 at Fraghause. Of course, when I do play OFP online, I play all day so in the morning til about 6 P.M. my pings at Stoners are 50-60ms. After that, I notice the popularity of cable in my area and jump up to 120 sometimes. They run solid maps and the same people are usually playing so you can hook up with someone you know and start working as a team. I'm sorry but FragHause maps aren't good for what I'm looking for. Yea, I want to have fun but my idea of fun is working as a team for a serious objective. A serious objective is capturing and holding a series of towns with an appropriate amount of vehicles and manpower. Plane Frenzy IMHO is not a fun map and is an example of the types of maps that FragHause runs. I played FragHause before I found Stoners and only go back to a FragHouse server when Stoners is full. Kind of funny how theres always room on a FragHause server. FragHouse is good for people new to OFP online but once they get "Serious," they should look for another server like "Stoners House of Pancakes."

A more appropriate comparison would be between Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and Half-Life. MoH:AA has already reached up to 3000 players online, a number Half-Life didn't see for quite some time. Although you could argue that a good portion of MoH:AA players came from the Half-Life community. I'm one of them. Anyways, back to the subject... OFP can't be considered a serious contender with Half-Life until the netcode and the online gaming process (joining a game, dynamic respawning, etc) are completely overhauled. Bohemia is on the right track by frequently updating the game itself. Â They just need to include the right update.

System Items (in relation to problem): Abit SE6 mainboard SB Live! Value CH Flightstick PRO CH Throttle CH Pedals Generic "Ultra Racer PC" handheld wheel Setup (physical): CH equipment - SB Live! Value gameport "Ultra Racer PC" wheel - mainboard gameport Conflicts (system information): None Problem: Unable to use both the CH equipment and the "Ultra Racer PC" while playing Operation Flashpoint. Â In controller setup, the program does not respond to wheel movements. However, I am able to setup both joysticks in the "Gaming Options" applet of the "Control Panel" and have them function and respond normally. I wish to use the CH equipment for flight and then be able to switch to the handheld wheel for ground vehicles.
