I'm having the same issue. I have an NVidia GeForce 9800 GT and I had several instances of the machine shutting down. The GFX card is very hot so it's definitely an overheating issue and the motherboard just shuts down.I had for the 1st time the same issue.
I have a new ATI 4890 card
a new Intel Q9550 running at max 60° (38° idle)
I have 5 fans in my case (P180).
My Mother Board is an ASUS P5B Delux
Only arma do this to my machine even OCC tool does not do this.
ITs definetly an ARMA issue.
ARMA 1 was also the only game that was overheating (artifacs)my old 8800GTX...
This is quite an issue, if its a common problem and happens frequently it could actualy dammage your hardware.

French review gave ARMAII an 6 out of 10!
They just said that it could be the best FPS of the moment but due to the bugs the single player is just not playable at this moment (patch 1.02)
The multi is rated as excellent thought.

Just placed my order for an HD4890 with NCIX.com @ $271.52 shipped express. You do not want to know how much more (how many times more, that is!) I paid for my 8800GTX over three years ago. $271.52 is a bargain.I did the same, I've just baught an 4890 and will give my so good 8800GTX to my brother.
the 8800TX is a graphic card wich will stay in memory. Since more than 2 years I am running all the game full on my 24" screen! (I wouldn't change it if my bro did not play ARMA2..)
Now she will replace the 7600GT of my brother with his 17" screen, she will please another gamer for years! What a card!:ok:
BTW what is the best settings for ATI drivers to run best with ARMA?

Singleplayer and Multiplayer for up to 16 people IIRC.Demo release is currently looking like 3PM CET tomorrow (that's 2pm GMT and some other times in some other countries).
Placebo, please read the forum rules, you are not allowed to speak about the demo until its released.
When it will be released you will be allowed to speak frealy about it.
I am closing the thread for now!
Sorry I could not resist!!!

Yup, not a word on the demo and the BI guys have more than likely gone home for the day now. Friday is release day here in the US and i was hoping for a little taste before the big day. But at this point i guess i would rather have version 1.3 come out than the demo LOL.You fool dont speak about the demo or you will get the thread locked and get a yellow card!::a:

Hello,
what is the best sound card for ARMA? IS Arma supporting EAX and alchemy under Vista?
thanks

wow thanks all for your replies is what I wanted to know!
I will go for an 4890. Is there any BIS programmer who could explain why arma2 is so in love with the ATI card?

Sorry I did not see this thread and I wanted a precised answer.
Do you know why ARMA2 is running better on aTI card?

Hello I am about to buy a new cg for arma, my budget allow me to get the ATI 4890 or Nividia 275 GTX .
As CPU I have a quad Q9550 @ 3.4GHZ and 4 gig of RAM.
Which one is better at high resolution (1920X1200) for ARMA2. I don't do SLI btw. I will give my old and so good 8800GTX to my bro.
