I'm afraid you may be right. For now, the baton may be figuratively handed to the community. We need ambitious TCs and missions that take a new style beyond 'go here and attack the enemy.'

I thought the Blackops soldiers did run farther/faster and aim better. I mean, Gastovsky can practically snipe with an mp5. I will say I wouldn't mind specops AI being a little more dangerous though. Too many times I've seen my whole squad quickly wasted by regular troops that are standing in the open like John Wayne. I'm not saying take all the challenge out of specops missions, but I'd say the challenge in that sort of mission IRL would be getting it right to begin with instead of on the tenth try, wouldn't you say? Oh yeah, specops soldiers also have a huge stealth bonus, especially at night. Crawling around people can nearly step on you without noticing. I don't get it, why would the SAS take part in the cold war? Perhaps there's something I don't know, but OPF is about the American and Russian forces in an imaginary location in Russia, right? The reason we here in the US use our special forces so much is that we're too d*amned scared of the publicity getting regular troops killed would bring.

Make sure you tell us when you release devil, I'm waiting to see what those crazy mofo mappers will do with it. Edit: in response to devils request for input: A) A police PBR might be a good idea, I couldn't say for sure yet. It probably wouldn't be necessary, since we've yet to have missions that play more like GTA3 than OPF (believe me, that's what I'm waiting for here). Even if we did, police don't need their own boats, they can just hijack somebody. B) I don't think a police jeep MG would be a good idea. I'm sitting here trying to remember the last time I saw a swat team cruising down the road open up on some shoplifters with a .50 cal, and it ain't happening. That is an exaggeration, but cops don't shoot from moving vehicles generally speaking, and for any other purpose an MG jeep is rather useless. (Edited by Snake Plissken at 8:33 am on Dec. 2, 2001) -
somebody, help?

When I attempt to play a certain custom mission it says I am missing the addon CoupeB. I've tried reinstalling 1.3 but it doesn't do the job. The map maker still insists it's part of 1.3. Could somebody post it on FTP or tell me where I can get it? Does anybody have it in the first place? Other than that one custom mission my 1.3 install has shown every sign of being fine.
-
I've heard it's a buggy piece of trash, and I definately believe it.
-
Does anybody have this addon in their directory? I'm having the d*amndest time getting it, and the maker of the map requiring says it came with 1.30. My 1.30 install is fine other than that small thing, so I'm wondering if anybody else has the addon.

*bump II* Hey, it's better than posting a new topic every 10 minutes.
-
*bump* does anybody have this addon/know where I can acquire it?

Sorry to dig up this old topic, but I just thought I'd mention you pretty much have to adjust for range with the in-game sniper sights. The only problem with the m21 sights is that most of the Russkies seems to be 5'8" or something, not to mention they're always hunched over. He was right to say that you can't adjust for wind. To my knowledge there is no freakin wind in OPF anyways.
-
I doubt it. Find the manual or else you're screwed I'd say.
-
I'm probably hilariously wrong, but wouldn't the tire have to make contact with the mine for it to go off? Keep in mind that the OPF mines are not buried, simply set on the ground.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that. I simply think their view of the mod as whole is skewed. From what I've seen, devil isn't some egotistical snob trying to show up people. It looks to me like he does what he does for fun, and possibly to create more interesting missions. Some people complained about having to download the mod to get missions b/c 'some idiot' decided to use it. From my experience, idiots make horrible mappers so why bother if you think only idiots will use the mod? The arguements are self defeating. The mod is nothing fantastic but it looks like fun.
