  1. William Tecumseh Sherman

    Biography:

William Tecumseh Sherman was one of the most controversial and successful Union generals during the Civil War. He performed well at Shiloh, Vicksburg, and the siege of Chattanooga. He captured Atlanta in one of the Civil War's most decisive campaigns. He advocated the concept of "total war" — waging war not just on the enemy's forces but on the enemy's support network. In this, he was the first modern general. He demonstrated this in his famous "March to the Sea," where his troops cut a swath of destruction through Georgia.

    Leadership Attributes:

Sherman was tenacious in battle, and served with Ulysses S Grant in his campaigns — including the siege of Vicksburg, where his tenacity payed off. Sherman led by initiative as much as by planning. During his "March to the Sea," he was cut off from supply lines and his troops lived off the land. Sherman was a soldier, not a diplomat. In fact, after the war, when his name was bandied about for a nomination, he said, "If nominated, I will not run; if elected, I will not serve."

About right I'd say, get in there and kick their arse! A fine tactic.

  2. Well, the problem of white floors arises as a result of a lack of video memory.

I had on-board graphics at first, before going PCI, and it shared about 8-16 Megs from the RAM. This meant there was in no way enough video memory for it to texture everything.

So the computer decided to leave the floor out completely. Also it isn't white, it's simply textureless i.e. no colour at all. So you don't even get a snow effect.

There are benefits to this though. It makes spotting enemies a damn sight easier and you can see quite well in the dark.

But the downsides are things like having no idea where a hill starts or ends and seeing roads where there are no roads i.e. on the other side of a hill.

So if anyone is suffering form this affliction, buy a better graphics card, it's the only way.

  4. What version are you on? I used to get this but I haven't done anything to warrant this response in ages.

My preffered tactic in the campaign was to steal the nearest piece of armor and kick some infantry arse, rather than risk actually getting shot wow.gif

But when I did this I often had to drive and shoot all on my lonesome sad.gif

You have to look close, but look at the crosshairs in the middle monitor. How would you hit anything with that? I'm not knocking it, the triple head monitor looks nice, but for me the money is better spent on other things. I don't know how much this will take off having to have 3 monitors. My second monitor I have is from my 486 from 92 and is a nice 14in job. can't wait to upgrade that one.

    COLINMAN<span id='postcolor'>

That's disgusting. You have to look all the way to the left just to see your action menu. AND part of the gun is on the left monitor.

I really couldn't play like that. You may get better FOV but at such a cost is unacceptable. If they could bring the action menu over and not cut the gun in two then fine.

Otherwise I can't bear to watch such evil inflicted upon this game.

  6. Damn, these mods are getting militant!

That thread was there 2 minutes. Mind you that was quite long, are the mods losing it? wink.gif

I was just trying to see how many people are actually active, I mean there must be people who stay permanently signed-in. Looks like loads of people are here but then very few ever actually post more than a few times.
