I dunno but I doubt that's it. I mean I doubt the card is doing much whilst on the desktop. I have no problems with any games. I'm even able to play GTAIII without trouble, and all I got is a Celeron 1GHz and 512MB of RAM.

From what I understand, there are still inherent problems with it though.

I do not believe there are any civillian registered ones in the U.S. though (if so, they are very rare)...So, I have not had the opportunity to fire one.<span id='postcolor'>

Well, I was wondering if any UK-army members could fill me in. I heard the latest version of the SA-80 has no problems other than it requires regular cleaning.

  3. I have Gainward Ti4200. A friend of mine said he'd heard of this problem on a message board somewhere else. Maybe it's a winME thing.

No, there was no problem before I got the card and there aren't any suspicious programs running and my system is as clean as it's ever been.

Well, what I drew from what Tex said was it was OK for the US to supply weapons to people to attack enemies of his country, but for some reason he thinks it's not OK for Iraq to do that to the US, presumably because they are under threat of invasion. His logic baffled me, if I was drawing the right conclusion.<span id='postcolor'>

Oh, I see. I don't understand why Iraq would be supplying weapons to the US. Must be a misunderstanding somewhere along the lines.

The thing that bothers me is that we sold Sadman most of his stuff, does any of it work? It doesn't for us. tounge.gif

  5. As are we all, although I'm also looking forward to any kind of response from Codemasters about a replacement CD, no way am I going to pay for another full price version. I don't mind paying for the cost of a disk and postage and stuff but I have no intention of paying out 25-odd quid.

    Wasn't that the case with the M-16 anyway?<span id='postcolor'>

M16 wasn't nearly so bad that magazines would fall out smile.gif

M16A1 just jammed a lot and the government didn't like how people were spitting out all their ammo in full auto mode, so they gave it different, more reliable ammo and 3-round bursting.<span id='postcolor'>

So far as I know the mags don't do that anymore. All the guns need is regular cleaning, albeit very regular.

Otherwise they are supposed to be fully functional, last I heard.

How in the hell is Iraq threatening the US withinvasion? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

I mean, there's very little likelihood of Sadman using the WMD he's reputedly in ownership of, in  a pre-emptive strike. He'd retaliate sure, but to attack the US or even Britain first is suicidal.<span id='postcolor'>

    lol

I'm getting so sick of our military and it's half-arsed way of doing things. I mean, we still haven't got enough boots for all our soldiers. And given the fairly small number of troops we have that's just plain silly.

You have a point there. Especially when you consider that during the previous Gulf War our forces covered Turkish attacks on Kurdish settlements. Aren't they going to feel a little pissed off at the fact that we let that happen?

  12. certainly more people are against the war here in Britain than are in favour of it. But that's got a lot to do with the fact that we would prefer not to take military action unless the circumstances are very severe indeed.

Not quite as gung-ho as some.

  17. I put this here because it has no relation to OFP, the only problem I have with OFP:R is that my disk broke and Codemasters haven't got back to me about it yet.

My problem is that ever since I installed my shiny new GeForce4 Ti4200 my start bar has suffered a few glitches.

The first to rear it's head is when the computer is left on for too long and the start button sort of flickers, looks like it's updating and producing a sort of raster scan effect on the button.

The other problem is that occaisionally the entire start bar will crash. A program gets a fatal error, I forget which one but I beleive it manages the start bar, and I lose the bar totally, have to reset the machine as the only controls I have left is the ALT-TAB thing and CTR-ALT-DEL.

Anyone got any idea if this is a common problem? I know a friend of mine gets the start button flicker like I do and he has GF4MX440 or something. I tried to find the relevant forum but haven't figured out where I can go with this.

    Thanks guys smile.gif

  18. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (David Shipley @ Jan. 21 2003,19:09)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">You know, I've been playing OFP for a few years now. I still love the game... but lately, though, I've grown -- well -- tired of being the guy who has to kill everybody. I'm tired of being the guy who carries the LAW to destroy any tanks that come by. I'm tired of taking all the risk, and basically being Rambo.

And also being the 'Rambo' who dies the most.

Lately, I've shifted to letting my men do everything - I'm just a squad leader now. I tell them where to go, which direction to look at and when to shoot. I micromanage everything, all in an effort to make my team an effective fighting force.

As I went forward, I learned about teams, covering fire and more.

The result? My squad kills more bad guys than I ever did, and suffer less casualties due to good leadership.

And the best part? I almost never die in missions now. I only fight when I have to. Most of the time, I just point out bad guys with my binaculars, and let my men deal with them.

Well anyway, I guess I'm just trying to ask, "Has anybody else tried this?" Considering Operation Flashpoint is supposed to be realistic, I guess this is the most realistic way to play - as squad leader, that is.<span id='postcolor'>

I know what u mean. The biggest problem with micromanaging a squad is getting killed while giving orders.

What I like doing is taking 12 man squads, assign them to colours, dividing them up into a AT squad, Snipers and general troops.

This way I can send each squad away in a different direction quickly without getting surprised by the enemy.

    Just my two pennies smile.gif
