Believe me, we ALL hope and pray for this! Â

I've noticed Fox News now refer to the suicide bombings as 'homicide bombings'. Is this just for the higher sensationalism value?

This is true. The UK isn't actually all that united. I myself voted for the Scottish National Party, whose main aim is secession from the Union. Unfortunately SNP support has stagnated at around 25% for years now. Ahem....Scotland is not legally entangled. Scots Law was something we managed to 'save' back in 1707 I can understand Englands natural tendency to be euro-skeptic. Scotland understands only too well the consequences of surrendering her currency and political autonomy to bigger brothers to the south Â

Talking of this, does anyone remember the tanks at Heathrow Airport during the Iraq build up? What the hell was that in aid of? Were they expecting to face the 1st Al-Queda Armoured Battalion? Blatant scaremongering

These type of triumphant headlines are to be expected. At least it`s not quite at crass as the Sun after sinking the Belgrano (killing 386 men).

Certainly not the British government... They`ve announced there`ll be a full judicial enquiry into the WMD evidence issue if Kellys` death is confirmed. Blair did his best to deflect calls for this type of enquiry, but it looks like he`s been forced to concede. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3077309.stm Edit: Turns out the enquiry will be limited to just the `events surrounding Kellys' death`

Funny...the Secretary of the US Navy in 1941 disagreed with you.... "In public speeches I have warned the American people that if Britain is defeated, we ought then to be fully prepared to repel attempts by Germany to seize bases on this side of the Atlantic. Germany would use these bases either to attack us directly or else first to establish herself solidly in South America. Many of our people and many of the speakers who have opposed giving ample aid to Great Britain apparently believe it fantastic to think that there is any real danger of invasion. I disagree with such people and believe that a victorious Germany would move over to this hemisphere just as soon as she could accumulate the strength to do so, and certainly very soon unless we now take the steps to check her career of reckless aggression." Â Â William Knox, 1941

No, we did it because you were "our friends."<span id='postcolor'> Franklin D. Roosevelt in a radio broadcast on 17th December, 1940. "In the present world situation of course there is absolutely no doubt in the mind of a very overwhelming number of Americans that the best immediate defence of the United States is the success of Great Britain in defending itself; and that, therefore, quite aside from our historic and current interest in the survival of democracy in the world as a whole, it is equally important, from a selfish point of view of American defence, that we should do everything to help the British Empire to defend itself." Anthony Eden (British Foreign Secretary), Memoirs: "The ability of the Royal Navy to escort the convoys upon which Britain's life depended was tried to the limit during this summer. The United States Government were now straining neutrality in our favour and Mr. Churchill was continually pressing them to further efforts. He asked, among other things, for the loan of fifty or sixty destroyers, and this scheme was discussed between London and Washington. The negotiations did not go smoothly, nor did I altogether approve of the details of the final settlement. At one time the suggestion was put forward in Washington that the entire British West Indies should be handed over. The sweeping nature of the American demands caused some delay in the negotiations. Local patriotism in the West Indies was justifiably affronted. By August 14th, however, the agreement was settled, to be ratified at the beginning of the following month. Our desperate straits alone could justify its terms. The age and condition of the fifty destroyers made unexpectedly large demands upon our dockyards. Only nine ships were available before the end of 1940, by which time our own naval construction was catching up on our losses." William Knox, then Secretary of the US Navy: "The existence of the British Navy and a balance of power in Europe have operated to give us military security against aggressions from that region. For many years we actually have had the benefits of a two-ocean Navy instead of only the one-ocean Navy that flies the American flag. The defeat of Great Britain would definitely carry with it the destruction of the British Fleet or would transfer it to German hands to be used against us"

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (denoir @ Mar. 26 2003,19:51)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Another interesting thing is that this weekend BBC decided that it would no longer show real-time footage from Iraq, but that they would introduce a 20s delay so that explicit images can be censored.<span id='postcolor'> I think i might know why they took this decision... I was watching BBC News24 when the story of the captured and killed US POW`s was breaking. The BBC news anchor reported that Al Jazeera (sp?) were showing a video of the PoWs. They then switched to what they said was a live feed from Al Jazeera. The pictures showed an american POW being questioned. It then switched to a body lying on the floor, with bloodstains round their lower chest. After, i`d say, 1 or 2 seconds of this image, the pictures were cut, and the TV controller switched back to the news anchor. As far as i know, no other western news agencies showed the PoW video till much later, and i don`t think anyone has shown any injured/dead. So i think the BBC must have decided that they jumped the gun broadcasting that video - hence the measures taken to prevent it happening again.

I asked the Jolt admins if they were gonna give us some dedicated ofp servers, but they`ve no plans to. They say the main reason is the stability of the dedicated server exe. Maybe one day...

Yeah, that makes sense i suppose. I fixed it by installing win2k service pack 2, and upgrading direct x at the same time. I had thought it was probably the direct x upgrade that fixed it, but maybe installing the service pack also upgraded my TCP/IP, thereby fixing the problem.... Good Luck Sgt. Barnes

One last try for help, before it hits the bin.
SgtBarnes replied to Col Rambo SBS's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi, I was having the same problem... I upgraded win2k to service pack 2, and upgraded directX to 8.1 This seems to have fixed it for me (though i`ve only tested it 3 times, all of which were successful). Good Luck Sgt. Barnes -
Hi, Check your direct x installation using dxdiag.exe Test DirectPlay from the Network tab. Try upgrading to DirectX 8.1 Good Luck, Sgt. Barnes
