    Yep, considering that Mi-28N is the serial production version of Mi-28, using the second, MFD-loaded version would be more accurate.

First of all - I am a total newbie to OFP/ARMA mission editing scene, so please explain like you would to a 5 year old :) Currently I am trying to create a convincing convoy ambush mission with a fairly large convoy, however i cannot figure out how to get vihicles to follow each other in beliavable fashion. The basic set up is 4 motorized inf groups, a tank, few mechanized groups, few UAZs, and an HQ vihicle. Currently, i'm setting waypoints for troops to mount their respective vihicles and then set individual waypoints for every vihicle. Several problems with that: 1) vihicles that do not have troops to mount get an early head start, 2) with individual waypoints AI drivers simply go crazy with speed and what happens is that convoy arrives to an ambush area in peacemeal fashion totally ruining the intent of the mission. Is there a way to make troops mount their respective vihicles and then all those vihicles follow a lead vihicle (say a tank) in a column formation with entire convoy starting movement at the same time and moving at a pace of a lead vihicle? Also, with respect to ambushing forces, if i have 3 groups spaced out along the road, how to make 2 of those groups that see the convoy earlier not to open fire but rather wait until lead vihicle passes the last group (with last group opening fire first and then everyone else following)? Appreciate all the help in advance!
  6. Thanks for all the replies! Will test it tomorrow. For the second part of the question - how would you guys go about controlling attackers fire sequence? That is i don't want two groups opening fire right away, rather luring the convoy into the full arc of fire of 3 groups spaced out along the road, with the third and furthest group opening up first. How to get AI groups not to fire until certain time?

    ARMA2 put you off the Army ?

    6 years with Canadian Forces (para tasked reserve infantry unit) and i cannot say that video games affected my decision in any way. Being a born and raised Russian i could not imagine how any male can become a man without military service. Being an immigrant, i felt that i needed to do something to actually earn my passport. Being a starving student, 50% off my tuition was bonus as well. BTW, stuff shown in ARMA is not representative of even 0.00001% of day-to-day regular routines (even on combat deployments). For every 15 mins of shooting, there is about 2-4 days of sheer boredom of preparations and rehersals accompanied by very challenging physical and mental stresses (but that is infantry, there are about 150 other trades that get to enjoy hot breakfast, lunch and dinner, and go to the field once a year only to re-new their basic qualifications :))
  8. I think you totally misunderstood what i am asking. I don't want to know what the convoy consists of, but what to do to make it happen in the Editor. What specific commands to use, attach what to what, and what specific waypoints to issue.
  9. Being Russian I've seen it plenty of times :) Controversial film, considering that most of the participants from 9th Company of an actual engagement are alive and well today. "Afganskiy izlom" was much better (and the whole thing is on utube i believe).
  10. Why people are thinking in terms of this OR that, why not this AND that? I'll surely be picking up Dragon Rising when it comes out, and i will buy Modern Warfare 2 as well. I don't get this blind devotion and fanboism - BIS aren't your relatives or friends, they are just another company. Denying yourself a product because it isn't made by BIS is silly to say the least (especially after a technical/performance/optimization trainwreck that is ArmA 2).
  11. Same problem. I get 34-110 during ship panoramic sequence/menu screens, but when i start the mission it does not go above 26 mark (being in area of 19 mostly). For GTX260 SLI and Quad CPU such performance is simply unacceptable.

    Sort out the bodies floating in mid air and I'll be happy. Bodies flying 500 ft into the air kills the immersion as well.

    How the heck did you get 40-60 fps in SP? GTX260 SC SLI running on 186.19 (with EVGA hot fix), Q9300 @ 3GHz and i'm barely getting 15-25 ( closer to 15 in towns).
  14. There are a few i7 people here who are a having the same problems. I have Q9300 @ 3.0 GHz, and 19-22 fps is a average at any graphical setting.

    Who got SLI to work?

    I'm experiencing the same. Haven't encountered stability issues yet. But 60-80 fps on the menu screens and 19-35 in game (mostly closer to 19) is not fun. 186.19 GTX260 SLI
  16. Part in bold increased my fps quite a bit! Cheers! Also, are you using 190.15 beta? How does the driver perform compared to 186.19 (i was turned off by it's small size of 50mb, compared to usual 90-100...stupid, i know, but i re-installed 10 different drivers in the last 24 hours attempting to get arma 2 to run smoothly)?

Q9300 Quad @ 3.0 Ghz 2xEVGA GTX 260 SC in SLI running on 186.18 beta driver (and i did try 182.50) 4 gigs RAM Raptor 2 150gb HD Vista Ultimate 32-bit 1680x1050 resolution Running the game on very high settings with few things toned down to High (and terrain to Medium) at 3km visibility, I'm getting constant frame clogs when turning around with very choppy movement(especially in urban areas). Overall fps averages at attrocious 24-25 fps when controlling land units (air units seem to sport low 40s). Tweaking the setting has almost no effect whatsoever (2-3 fps difference b/w Very High and Normal). Static scenes without trees can go as high as 37 fps (for 260 SLI :mad: ), as soon as i start moving and looking around it can go as low as 15 fps. Whenever there are troops moving on the screen my fps drops like a rock as well (on Normal model detail). If i try to lower the res from 1680x1050 to next lower setting, the game becomes so blurry that i have hard time distinguishing my squad mates 20 meters away (overall graphical appearance becomes worse than that of an average PS3 title (everything is washed out and blurry)).

I've seen videos of people with much worse set ups getting steady 60 fps, so I'm a bit puzzled atm. Any suggestions on how to improve my frame rate would be most welcome.

    Same FPS (low) at any settings.

    Same problem with GTX 260s in sli. 22-24 fps no matter how I tweak. Looking around drops it to as low as 15 at times.

    Poor fps with a fast rig

    Rolling back to 182.50 and re-naming the executable did not improve things. Interestingly, I get pretty choppy performance even with lowered graphics (2-3 fps difference between running on Very High and Normal). Running "Counterattack" scenario my fps averaged at 19-22 with both 182.50 and 186.08 beta (which is pretty much unplayable). Fallout 3, GTA4, Empire:Total war, and now this *sigh* It seems developers are not able/too lazy to properly optimize games to take advantage of the latest hardware tech. 1.03 better be all about optimization.

    Would be nice to have an update, seeing how the full game comes out in 3 days and 4 hours (at which point demo will become redundant).

    An observation about tanks.

    Arma 2 + Shock Force's ballistics and armor modeling would quite possibly be the best game ever made (at least for those of us who are detail freaks).
