  1. I'm voicing my opinion about these matters for years now. They've polished the AI and Graphics right, now please take a look at these issues. A little love for these points would bring BIS much much more people and money. I know these are moddable, but mods do die by time and get incompatible or too complicated to maintain(too much ambition, like NWD's mods); but official features always carry on and are an integral part of the game. They also impress and bring fun to people who don't even know what a mod is.
  2. The inclusion of Fire Control Systems is just what I've been wanting from ArmA 2, yet BIS failed me again. That trailer really got me excited as they've implemented those things, especially Javelin one is just sexy.
  3. Aside from usual fanboyism here, I think the trailer is promising. Especially inclusion of fire control systems for Tanks, Helis and other things(Javelin) is what makes this one exciting for me. Graphics don't really matter for me as long as the gameplay is good.

    ArmA 2 on PlayStation 3

May be a good sign :)
  5. It's surprising why are you comparing ArmA 2 with CoD4? CoD games are popular because they're easy to get in and addictive(for most) twitch shooters, they've sold millions of games(CoD4 alone has sold more than 10 million) and they're are likely to remain popular for a long time. ArmA and such games on the other hand, are slow playing tactical games and appeal to a very LIMITED audience. There are 14597 servers and 28,237 CoD4 players at the moment according to game-monitor.com, and this is not counting thousands of Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 gamers. ArmA 2 won't ever reach or see those numbers. It might be going fast as we're in the release months, but it will gradually stabilise around current numbers as players move on. It's definitely doing better than Armed Assault on the other hand.
  6. I've been only reading the forums lately as I don't have ArmA 2, but I must say this mission is probably the "Way ArmA 2 is meant to be played". Co-op gaming(evo, dom) is great to an extend, but having two organised teams fighting each other in a realistic game at core is something else. In ArmA it was all about co-op in public (save for some team deathmatch missions like berzerk), and I hope ArmA 2 will make the leap with TvT. I hope you continiously work on this mission and so people will start playing it. Maybe someone should make a thread over PR forums as well :) Rak

    Oh god.
  8. These issues were already brought up numerious times before the release. Typical responses were going from few "I agree"s to many "OMG stop whining IT'S AWESOME". BIS didn't do anything. Hopefully they will after the release. I'm happy you brought it up once more in a civil manner. Btw, to those who think ArmA 2 can't handle some mathematics calculations and we would have terrible peformance with realistic armor/FCS's . . . we don't need a 1:1 real world model. Just something more complex than what we have now. Besides ArmA 2 does support multicores(actually a dual core is a minimum requirement) so there are plenty of room to do that. Better armored Warfare (ballistics + FCS) and then you can call it ArmA 3, because that would be huge leap even with minimal effort.

The tanks are a lot better!

You obviously have no idea what he's talking about.
  10. Yeah, as I said I'm on a laptop. I have a E6750, 4GB RAM and 8800GT at home but the problem is I'm not at home :P I'll probably wait for a demo and try it out for myself then. 44€ is pretty much for a student to waste :)
  11. Hello all, I'm thinking of buying the German version. Since I'm not at home, and studying in Germany I will use my laptop. Here are the specs: T7100(1.8Ghz) Core2Duo 2Gb 667MHz RAM 128mb 8400M GS What do you think? It can run Armed Assault pretty well on lowest settings possible. Has ArmA 2 changed much? I heard it even runs better because of multicore optimisation so I still have hope :)

    ArmA II: The Vehicles

Tanks are still being "drifted" by AI. Handling doesn't seem heavy. Although, in the Russian faction reveal video tanks seemed pretty heavy and handling looked good.
  13. That's the problem, the game has the same problems(and limitations) for over 10 years and you guys are very happy about having them. It's like "holy book" for some people, the game should not be changed or improved. It's about time we get a polished "true successor" from BIS; not an OFP 1.5 again.
  14. Test the new "Micro AI". Then get disappointed.
  15. Well what I'd like to see is a decent armored combat system. Armor penetration calculations, FCS's, proper handlings and such. Plus elimination of "Tab locking" from all missile systems(except airplanes). Than I'll be happy.

    ArmA2 - The Xbox 360 thread

Well I'm a PC gamer for more than 10 years(1 years ArmA) and I haven't had a console nor planning to buy one, I'm just making making a suggestion for BIS. So you could stop treating me as a "console guy" :c: I too think it won't be out on PS3 though, BIS never mentioned it. But another 22 millions of "more hardcore" population is a good thing to consider.

    ArmA2 - The Xbox 360 thread

I hope it'll be out on PS3 as well. It's player base much more hardcore than of Xbox 360, and the console itself is quite powerful compared to Xbox. Both are good positives to consider.
  18. I doubt the AI tactical behaviour will change with the skill level. Only reaction time and accuracy probably. What I'm talking about is all those "MicroAI" and "Mega centimeter precision" features that BIS was talking about. Like AI squad lining up on corners, covering each other, using lean to see if the street is clean, then smoothly moving to cover. No previews talk about these features, not even "Micro AI" is mentioned. Running in the middle of street and getting slaughtered is hardly a precision. Also, "Default" is the difficulty most of us will play. You'd expect the AI to be programmed optimally for that difficulty.
  19. Huge disappointment for me on the latest reviews, especially on AI part. I don't see any improvement over ArmA, nor any reviews put any emphasis on it. It's probably not marginal as BIS hyped it to be as "Micro AI", which I see as the selling point of ArmA 2. What's with those enemies who don't even care about those shooting at them? I mean, running in the middle of the street and getting mass murdered is hardly any intelligence(or challenge for player). Taking corners in a city fight is the most important part, you don't know what you'll run into. Those AI must have owned that player as he was being damn careless. Also being immortal during the animations is still there. Changing the voices to "Some guy far away, dunno who LOL" doesn't make sense. Maybe BIS doesn't want "casual" players to get bored with formal and robotic "12 O'clock, enemy sniper, 200 meters"; but this does not make sense. Razor team is supposed to be made of professionals, not from a bunch of high school teenagers. I like the new feeling of the movement, and movement sounds. City and enviroment atmosphere seems good. That's about it. What I get from these reviews is that ArmA 2 just an ArmA improved for the appeal of casual gamers, not "realistically enchanced" for the loyal OFP crowd. I understand BIS is now playing the classic "It's an early Alpha, jeez calm down guys." card, but may I ask what have they been doing for 2 years?
  20. FCS's are even broken after many patches in ArmA, and they require lots and lots of work because of the engine limitations. Plus you have to do the same things all over for new vehicles. I doubt they'll be converted at all. Now, how about BIS giving us a complete game with a SIMPLE FCS and FLIR rather than putting their backs at the modders this time?
  21. Awesome, but still no word of even a simple FCS for tanks :|
  22. It was much of a "meh" video, didn't reveal details like the other trailers did and left me an impression that Russian side is slightly bettter than the old games. I think BIS shouldn't use OFP songs in the promotion, it brings some good memories to some; yet horrendous ArmA/OFP memories to others. BIS should emphatise they're not doing a polished remake, but a completely new game. For this reason we shouldn't be hearing "crappy" ArmA sounds in the videos also . . .
