  1. Is it too much to expect from ArmA 3 that AI will finally be able to drive properly after 3 iterations of the game engine?
  2. Maybe the reason is that the online ArmA is infested with that particular mission?
  3. Windows 8 is not so different from 7. If anything, Windows 8 runs a lot better than Windows 7. Yes the new start screen is weird for non-tablet PC's, but you spent most of your time in desktop anyway. How many times do you guys use the start menu during the day? Gabe's problem with Windows is that it's taking a more controlling approach to how PC applications are distributed with the "Windows Store". They even "closed" the ARM version of Windows 8 so that you can only install apps from Windows store. It's a threat for Valve's Steam business, and they do not like it.
  4. DMR scope is also off. Also, why doesn't DMR have range adjusting? It's weird to have a "Designated Marksman Rifle" without range adjustment.
  5. Still, useful thread for a newcomer to the community. There are people who don't know what ACE, JSRS or JTD Fire&Smoke is. Since some of the threads are buried deep within the forums, it's not easy to find them unless you're an "old timer". So, a "best of thread" asking frequenters to give advice is the best thing to do. I don't understand the "punishing" attutide and negativity of these forums. Every response up to yours was positive.

Place to download my CD Key ?

Did you try them on Steam? Otherwise you may want to contact the streamer.
  7. They usually do it when you stay in a cover too long and they can't get to you. All of a sudden BOOM.
  8. Does this mod work with i44 too?

Congrats! It's good to see the models back in ArmA 2. Are these ACE compatible?

    Project Reality: Arma 2

I think PR needs to step up their update frequency if they want to be popular. I visit the website every month, but there isn't any news or even any new threads to keep me excited.
  11. It seems to me that the zombie numbers since 1.5.6 are very low. In the first weeks there were usually around 700-800 zombies per server and that made zombies a big threat. Now, there are usually 150-300 zombies on a 60 player server. The worst thing is, if zombies don't spawn around buildings, so doesn't the loot. When there's no loot people start killing each other for stuff and it makes PvP even more attractive.
  12. Still, you almost never die immediately. As I've said you can just quit the game when you realize you're going to die.
  13. I think persistance and automatic saving makes this mod too easy. You had an awesome gear and got killed? No problem, just quit and rejoin the server before it saves. Are you at a military base and there's no good loot? No problem, just let the game save and join another server until a good loot appears. With that technic, I've got an awesome gear with suppressed M4, PDW as pistol and all the equipment(map, compass, GPS, only lacking night vision). The mod suddenly went from terrifyingly beautiful to incredibly easy. Zombies are never a concern. One solution is increasing the save frequency or forcing save after certain events(death). Still, you can still cheat the game by aborting the game when you realize you're going to die. Probably the best solution would be to force players to put up tents before saving with some rare random saving(without timer) thrown in to safeguard against server crashes.
  14. Looks like this mod gave ArmA 2's sales a huge boost, it has taken over Black Ops 2 preorders and is on it's way to page 1. Yet another proof that there is lots of untapped potential for ArmA 2 multiplayer, especially when you put in some PvP elements. I hope BIS will support this mod so we can see it as part of ArmA 3 at day 1 :)
  15. It's not the sounds themselves that makes ArmA 2 sounds weak, it's the sound engine. It's too basic, and doesn't add post processing effects that makes BF3 and BC2 sound awesome. When I play ArmA, I feel like I play one of those 1998 games again.
  16. I had a similiar laptop with exact specifications and there was no way to run ArmA 2 with playable FPS(>10), unless you shrank 3D resolution to unplayable levels. ArmA run barely with lowest settings.
  17. Is there any way to get zombies to run a straight line? I mean not zig-zagging from node to node wildly, but come straight at you somehow. Wasn't "micro AI" supposed to solve this? It's a huge immersion killer for me.
  18. Tried for about 3 hours with my friends so here's some quick feedback. - Playing with friends, why is it so hard to find each other? It doesn't help that you don't start with a map or compass, and regardless of slot selected you spawn at a random place. Most of our time was spent suiciding/running around just to find each other in frustration. - Respawn after death, I've waited a good 3 minutes but nothing happened. Though, if you abort and select a slot again it works. - Zombies, they run so awkward that it's so hard to shoot them. I know it has something to do with ArmA 2's awful animations, but they make random 90 degree turns at full speed which makes them impossible to shoot. Are they cheetahs or zombies? I think you've tried to give them a flanking behaviour but it isn't creating immersion, but frustration. - Zombie spawning. Why is it so unpredictable? We were quietly sweeping a village, and deemed it was safe after a few encounters only to be swarmed with zombies on top of us. At least make them come from a long distance so we have time to run away. Currently you can neither run or fight your way, it's a death sentence. It's also not immersive to have a huge group of zombies pop out of nowhere, ruining your 3 hours worth of game. - Zombies run faster than you, yet they can never hit you while running. You can actually run the whole map with 50 zombies behind you, creating a funny exploit that is bringing hordes of zombies to spawn areas. - More zombie behaviour types please. Give some zombies more health but make them slower, you can actually randomize this. Not all undead should be able to outrun healthy survivors. - There are no objectives other than surviving. After you get some weapons food/drinks there's not much else to do and it gets boring quick. Maybe you can make it so we have to reach a "Rescue zone" some distance into the mainland? If you don't really want an objective based mission, then you can let players fortify positions and even set up small encampments. You can also give players small objectives like possibility of having a car/truck. I've seen car parts scattered around the houses, but there's no instructions how to use them. - Give more reason for players to stick to each other, rather than killing each other. We've played on the Russian server and most people were busy killing each other getting quick loot rather than working together for survival. You can also allow "barter" between players so equipment can be traded without violence. - For the love of god, please allow me to turn down foliage more. Chernarus is heavy on computer and not being able to turn details down kills my performance. 3 hours with 19 FPS wasn't really a nice experience. - Equipment, implement a more reliable way to get them. Putting them randomly in houses ensures people who join the game late don't get the rifles etc. because others have already taken them. It's also painful to search every house, only to find a shotgun neatly place in a toilet. You can put NPC "stores" who sell them for quests/money, or put them in open stores that can be run by players. For an early alpha, it's impressive. Though, I found it lacking atmosphere, accesability and longevity I've expected from it's popularity.
  19. Five. Two of them never played more than 1-2 hours, two of them played a few regular coop's and then got bored fast because of the AI and "unpolished" feeling of the game. One of them turned out to be a regular.

    Project Reality: Arma 2

Finally, PR has gone a bit unnoticed here because of the lack of a thread in these forums. Hopefully this thread will bring many new players. I had a blast at the launch even there was extreme warping problems and I'm looking to play way more when my exams are over :)
  21. A PMC and his views on depiction of war in video games. I thought this was an interesting read, I wonder what does the ArmA community think about it? http://www.mediumdifficulty.com/2012/03/01/call-of-apathy-violent-young-men-and-our-place-in-war/
  22. Please remove the giant red forum icons. They're so painful to look at over white background.
  23. Is this supposed to be improved? D:
  24. I'm happy BIS finally taking actions to solve an issue that's been plaguing the MP for years . . .
