  1. Just tried this and just wanted to say, fantastic job!

    I havent spent a great deal of time playing with it yet, but already I "feel" the helo more. Just pulled off some landings on a fairly small roof and the freedom you now get is just fab! I didnt even have to cheat to 3rd person view in order to provide that essential situational aswareness overview.

    It did require some tweaking of my trackir profile, and I'm sure more tweaks are to come! But great job again mate, thanks very much.


  2. Beerkan Brit Units uses standard in-game configurations. Which means you can author a mission that anyone can use without the need to force players to install a MOD just to play your mission.

    And possibly more importantly, Beerkan Brit Units uses the ingame English voices of which I have explained how I did this in my original post.

    Not wishing to inflame things any further between you two... but I think those are very valid points.

    I get tired of not getting on a lot of servers because I choose to run certain mods (sthud) but can't as they dont accept any mod keys by default. I would like to run with Brit uniforms without having to faff about all the time.


  3. Look at the mission parameters (in the lobby, where you select slots). The first paramter sets the time of the day. ;)

    Now who feels dumb??? lol. Thanks for pointing out the obvious...its my age!

    I want to add UAVs in general to the mission at some point but I don't know exactly when that will be.

    CBA, sthud, TMR are no problem. TPW is generally a SP mod as of now and I don't really recommend using it in a MP environment until tpw makes it completly MP compatible (some parts are already working in MP). This could cause some desync unfortunatly.

    Regarding TPWCAS (the addon version) I recommend turning off the suppression in the mission parameters since I don't know how well the script version (included in my mission) plays with the addon version.

    EDIT - Hopefully I'm not missing the obvious again... but could you add a weather variable into the parameters? We would also like to have some of the missions in the larger towns if possible?

  4. Hi lukrop,

    First off I have got to say I am loving your mission! I'm playing with a friend on the NATO version and so far it seems to be running very well, though am just hosting on my PC and not on a dedicated server, we have had a couple of desyncs but generally it sems to have run OK.

    My request or question is, can you add an option to change the time of day? Or let us know what I need to alter it. ( I just dont like the look of dawn in ARMA :) ). I have tried to edit it myself and set a differnet time but it seems to be overridden by something??? I also tried to add a UAV operator but he doesnt appear either.

    Any assitance would be gratefully receieved!

    As for mods - my friend is currently running clean, I set the game up on my comp and am running - CBA/sthud/tmr ( cuttenly disabled )/tpwcas/TPW. All seem to run wihjtout issues between eitehr of us.

    This looks really interesting, however either I'm missing something or its not working very well. I have installed it fine ( win7 64 with English UK Keyboard/voice ) I have the latest build ( 0.2.1 ). When in game I can select the various units ( 1 - 7, etc ) they highlight and then the text box pops up allowing further commands that I have to click to action. Is that correct?

    As having read through the posts and looking at the vid it looks like you should be able to give further commands verbally ( assign team red, etc??? ). When I try this I dont get any response other than the text box coming up.

    Sorry if i'm being a doof! :)

    Really like what youve done, can you advise how I can do the following:

    1: Change the position of the map on screen. I use 3 screens and when I open the map it adjusts to either the left or right of the center screen only. I would like to put it over to the left screen. ( I tried adjusting the value's in the .pbo but ended up just having the whole thing stop working )

    2: Add a custom key bind - shift m works fine, but I would like to add it to a joystick button.

    I have read through the posts and can't find anything that covers the above.

  7. Hopefully someone can help with this one.

    I've been playing about with these modules and have got both the AI respawn and the dynamic patrol working. However what I want to do is this. Have a dynamic patrol set and running, say 2 guys patrolling around a building. When they get attacked/killed it fires the AI respawn module to create a opfor patrol to reinforce the attacked patrol.

    I know I should be able to trigger this by setting the AI Spawn module's condition from False to True, but what is the actual code to activate this by a trigger and where would you put it?


  8. TK'ing and base rape are bad dont get me wrong. But at least your aware of it happening. Its the use of hacks which are far more worrying.

    Just google "Artifical Aiming - arma3" this site has actually got someone making money on selling this crap and there seems to be plenty out there happy to pay to get "such an awesome program". It honestly makes me very depressed to think people will pay for a game such as Arma3 then get some thrill out getting loads of kills because they have a radar and icons showing all the enemies on it.

    I hope to god BI can do something to combat this, and hopefully sue the person thats making money out of it!


  9. I think that, like he said, overall sound will be toned down rather than blasting your ears up with gunfire sounds.

    I'm sure they will, but there’s a difference in making the sound "louder" or "softer" and the actual acoustic signature that a high velocity round makes.

    Don't get me wrong I love realism, so if they accurately model the sound so that your ears bleed every time you shoot ( figuratively speaking ) unless you wear a piece of kit called "ear defenders" or "ear plugs" ( or an option to double plug for that matter ). Then that’s fine.

    What I don’t want is every time you fire its simulating firing a weapon without any ear protection.

    ( Lets not even go down the road of the effects of perceptual distortion and what you may or may not register in an engagement... ;) )

    I hope your not going to make this too realistic as I still remember being on a range and not putting my ear defenders down in time for someone firing next to me. My inner ear still shreaks at the mere thought of it...though on saying that I still have them, so could pop them on while playing, the wife would simply think I had some new green colored headsets! :)


  11. Not sure if its the same command bug i had, mine didn't crash the game but it was corrupted and didnt work properly. ( i did start another thread on it )

    Just a thought, but i have just reinstalled arma 2 With oa and this time used the default location ( C: Bohemia etc, previously I had it installed on my D drive ).

    Now it is running without errors, is yours in its default location? if not might be worth a try.

    I've been playing through the last couple of Operation Arrowhead beta patches and I've noticed one bug that is persistent in all of them. If I try to command my team to move somewhere the game always locks up and crashes to desktop. I was wondering if this is just happening to me, or if anyone else has been noticing this because it should be hard to miss?

  12. Great job on the pack, thanks for all your efforts.

    One possible problem, not sure...

    a) if its been noted before and

    b) whether its just a problem with my machine ( having some problems with the command menu being corupt in the last 2 betas ) but I just noticed that the troops with SA80's dont cast a shadow of the weapon.

    The GPMG has a shadow cast, havent tried anything else yet.
