Idea Games NOT publishing Armed Assault/

Ummm, has this actually been confirmed yet, or are we just being hopeful? -
Well at least they won't get ripped off by any dodgy b******s, like EA...
-
A similar system was used in Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault, where the water had currents, so bodies and stuff would float down it... That game didn't have vehicles though, so it wasn't really my cup of tea...
-
So does that mean that IDEA will be publishing ArmA?
-
That would be sweet if this was in. I am just having memories of playing Joint Ops, and sitting in the back of an APC in multiplayer, watching the driver and gunner at their stations. That is cool!!!

The system in Soldner is as you said above. Even large buildings can be completely destroyed. All you see is dust, and then a building with a gaping hole in it. This was perfectly adequate, you didn't need to see falling rubble or the 'half-way' stage to believe it was realistic. There were also pieces of rubble you would see after, actually inside the building, which I take it would have been pre-coded in the damage model. Although Soldner used this system, there was still one hell of a lot of variety. The only issue came with trying to jump through windows in a damaged building, as this didn't work correctly. Something to do with the collision detection system, I believe...

I think it's also possible that even using lego, they could somehow create diagonal sections, so that it would look more realistic...
-
Hehe, I know what you mean...

Isn't Soldner a 2D game? If so there is a HUGE difference in 2D and 3D rendering, and it shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. Soldner was an online tactic shooter, which had many good ideas, but to bad developers. And no, it isn't 2D... I think that's a little unfair. A bad publisher more like...
-
And also very painful...
-
Sorry m8, can't help you with this one. Soldner does still have a lot of bugs. The only thing I can really suggest is posting on their forums, and of course ensuring that your drivers are up-to-date...
-
You need to visit the official Soldner website: http://soldner.jowood.com/ The reason you can't connect is probably becasue they are now using a new portal system...
-
/me kicks @cero for being a Spaniard lol sorry m8, it's just I know a good game when I see one, and ARmA is also going to be a very good game...

Yes, nowadays development teams are starting to create entirely seperate physics engines, processed by Physics Cards (a seperate component for your PC) so that no stress is put on the GPU or CPU, so that they can concentrate on other things. In some games currently under development, every drop of rain, every leaf on every tree, will be calculated by these Physics Cards. The future is very exciting...

I did extensive beta testing for Wings Simulations, the people that made Soldner (excellent game btw) and on some maps the layout (density) of the buildings is similar to that which we have seen in ArmA. Â Soldner is based in a sort of Siberian area, so in a way, it's the same geographical location as ArmA, although Soldner did actually use satelite imagery to create the landscape. Â I have quite a few screenshots of Soldner. Â Unfortunately, none of them show the ADS (Advanced Destruction System) which was actually very good...

With this revelation about this 'Only 1 Commander Who Is Not In Game' thing, will the CTI boys be able to edit it so that it is possible for there to be a commander who can move around in game?
-
Have you tried playing Joint Ops? It's a lot of fun for those reasons...
-
God, some people aren't happy with anything are they? This is the first video we've seen, and to be quite honest, I think most of the hard-core fans are exstatic about it...
-
Yeah, not sure if this has been mentioned, but does everyone have to play on one side in these games? Can some of us not go to the East side? If it is East v West, that is...
-
Ummm, Czech should be spelt with a capital C...
-
lol don't worry mate, we're a freindly bunch around here. Settle in and get used to doing lots of reading, because right now there is LOADS of new information coming up about ArmA and Game2 from all sorts of places... Oh, and if you see these: just join in and dance away, it helps pass the time until the game is released...

As I said in the other thread, some of the houses still look too bright, and I spotted that old 'white lines' water in one screen. But then in some others I saw it looked much better, so not sure about that one...
-
In some of those screenies (think it was the video ones) it appears that the houses are still too bright. Water in one of the screenies looks 'old-style' (white lines) too, although in some others it seems to have had a dramatic improvement.

Man those scans are WAY TOO BIG, it gets about half way down then fails, and I'm on a 10MB connection...
