    ArmA Progress Updates

I wish it didn't suck but it does. I did get a kick from flying the choppers in it though a while back and the dynamic destruction, long view distance and thermal imaging are quite cool features. Here's a quick summary of my thoughts about it: Online community on public servers - relatively much annoying and immature people considering how small the player base is, zero or near zero team work, with a little luck you might find someone willing of actually trying something together (like pilot/gunner or to be a fireteam) Mods / addons - nothing worth mentioning that I know of Infantry combat - sucks, no ballistics whatsoever, clumsy, frustrating, some nice/fun stuff like thermal imaging goggles, jumping in trough a window or climbing a fence or roof and paradropping/base jumping Armor and other land & sea vehicles - arcadey one man operated tanks and such but generally not as bad as infantry Jets - suck big time, worse than OFP, like flying arcade space shooter Choppers - relatively good flight model, actually takes some practice to master, no cockpit views or realistic weapons systems GFX & Sounds - not good, unrealistic I know this isn't the thread to talk about this, but you should try it again... /me Runs before Placebo turns up...

Totally destroyable towns are already possible. Â We had them in Soldner - Secret Wars... Â PS - They were dynamic too!

LOL Well now you know why they were so reluctant to release screenies/videos etc. Everytime they do it gets torn apart by the community...

Comparing Crysis and ArmA makes me think of one thing. The fact that people will play through Crysis once, which will maybe take them 20 hours, and then it will become repetitive. Whereas with ArmA people will play it through once, (dunno how long that will take) and then will play it through again and again and again. And THEN, after all that, they will have the mods and stuff to play with too, as well as the various awesome MP modes that we are going to see...

    ArmA Progress Updates

The reason for all these delays is, well.... That I have a secret deal going on with BIS, and they are giving me time to save up some money so that I can get more RAM and a better GFX card, and once I tell them that I am ready, they will release the game... Â Â Â

    Interiors?

Bah, its amazing how 5 year old DX8 OPFR still has better looking interiors than JO, JO's vehicles really looked bad for a "new" game, but then again Far Cry's were also... poor . Yeah true but just the fact that it had them...

    Interiors?

Yeah I hope good vehicle interiors are in for ArmA. This was something that I always loved in JO, and missed badly in BF2...

We had to scrap AI because we needed all processing power available to calculate the new offside rules  Now that's just pure class...

    ArmA Progress Updates

It's weird, but I have never had problems with Hitman BM. Maybe my computer (self-built) is just more stable. I know loads of guys who had real problems with BF2 also, but I never had any of those either...

If they did that I would be VERY VERY annoyed... Â Well it's possible with any developer. Including BIS. Yeah I know. But when I used to play BF1942, one of the things that made it so awesome was the mods that were available...

Thats not true, ArmA had a release date of Q4 2005, but BIS decided to move it back to H1 2006 and work on the game more which was then moved back to Q3 2006 which seems unrealistic at this stage. Publisher or not the estimated release was delayed. Chicken and egg. You can't release without a publisher and BIS never had a publisher. We can't know that Armed Assault wouldn't have been released last year if they had found a publisher. The fact that BIS continue to work until they find a publisher is as much to do with making the game more attractive to publishers. If they don't find a publisher for another year then they will continue to work on it for that year. If one had been found last year we would have got what was originally planned, OFP:E for the PC. The estimated release dates are meaningless really, the game is ready and was ready. If BIS added 6 months to the ETA tomorrow, it would be because they can't sell the current game and they believe it will take 6 months of work to make it even more saleable. But surely there is something wrong if the creators of the multi-million selling OFP can't find a publisher by now?

    ArmA Progress Updates

I'll answer my own question. Â Not sure, it looks to small to be one of those... I'd be more inclined to say it was some form of M82 Barret, seeing as its all US Army equipment and all... Yes, it looks a little like that doesn't it...
