7 Minutes long! Sweet vid..... Waiting for translation on very long commentary! Â
-
I think this forum is gonna EXPLODE tonight!!! Â
-
Quote from article: " If you set up the situation well, our strong AI will take care of any actuality that can happen..." ....I think the character switching in this case has been implemented for increased playability of missions. You don't have to use it, but it could be fun and even quite useful sometimes. I expect also that BIS will us it sparingly/intelligently in the campaign so we don't all go around like we were playing Rainbow Six! Â

Heads up folks ...Three more screenshots! ..From an upcoming trailer I believe! Â http://armedassault.org/web2....-17.jpg http://armedassault.org/web2....-26.jpg http://armedassault.org/web2....-04.jpg

So are you gonna add a dancing banana for each day that passes? Â
-
I recognise Johns fire and smoke effects, the rest is just other addons for OFP.

Can't understand this hype about ACU! They all look like bed time pajamas to me! Â As for effective camo they would be better off wearing high visibility safety jackets! Non of them blend in to their backgrounds so what is the point in them? - Fashion I guess! Â OK put them in a suitable environment and they might be effective. But in OFP - forget it!

Did the recent news fullfil your expectations?
Journeyman replied to luemmel's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Whereas I appreciate that this poll is yet another 'time killer' in the wait for ArmA's release, it does have a few flaws! "Will the game meet your expectations?"  - How can we know that?! We expect the game to be what we've heard it is going to be. If it is what we've heard then - yes! If on the other hand the information is just corrupt hyped selling propaganda then - no! So do I believe that BIS is telling the truth - yes! Therefore I expect the game to be what they say!   Will tomorrow’s weather meet your expectations?  -

#2. Â - Keeps it 100% yes so far! Â -
If it was a perfect world and the other human players were really good human beings opponents I would agree! But from my experience this is generally not the case and there is always one childish idiot doing stupid things. Sure it is fun but I like to play proper missions as in a real war. CTF etc. are fun and I've enjoyed many, but this doesn't happen in RL. To me it is just a bit too arcade and I like this sort of game to be a proper sim. Also don't play down the AI, it will be a lot better than OFP that is for sure! Â Everyone has their preferences, that was the purpose of this thread. EDIT: LOL...GBee was first! Â

"Completed single player missions will be available in coop mode, in which you'll be able to try out the different roles over and over." - That’s the piece in the translated article that grabs my attention the most! Â

Ditto! Â

Armed Assault - should the name be changed?
Journeyman replied to theavonlady's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
I second that! Â -
The sort of games you usually see advertised on TV are generally multi platform arcade games such as what EA usually delivers. Probably because this is considered to be their biggest audience. Since ArmA is not going to be multi platform and is essentially a PC dedicated military sim, I doubt that it will get any TV air time. Let's face it dedicated PC military geeks like us probably don't watch much TV anyhow! Well don't feel too sorry for me I think actually he was joking Placebo! Let's face it; we can all see that grin on your avatar! Â

You got me ... since now all my polls will be optimized to avoid negative votes   Full of b******t as always! Â

Lyon photos? Great! Someone has been to Lyon and taken some photos! Just what we all need! Â

most people also seem to have some, rather distorted ideas about what steam is and how it works. "most people" also voted to re-elect president bush, but that obviously didn't turn out to be such a good choice either. whoever refers to steam as a "piece of shit, system-hogging spyware" needs to upgrade their computer (128MB or RAM just doesn't cut it anymore, bob). 3.2GB P4, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive - still think that Steam is a "piece of shit, system-hogging, contol freakware"! Nothing to do with system specs at all, this is about ethics and freedom of choice, neither of which Steam is capable of delivering! I've had Steam, tried it, didn't like it, still don't like it, end of story! Â As for President Bush, I can't comment because I'm not American!
-
Well then: I request a meeting. Tomorrow is OK for me. I can drive to Brussels if that makes life easier for you. Let us know how you get on! Â By the way I think we're all off topic! Â AHEM! Screenshots - Oh eah! We want more screen shots! Â
-
I think I've overcome this problem in the past by enabling the 'look with mouse' key, this disables control surface commands from the mouse so that map navigation can be made w/o crashing your plane. However, if you've enabled any control to the right mouse button it will still respond to this. Â Certainly room for improvement!

Part of a destroyed aircraft i think, since the purpose of this shot was to show off the new damage engine for Game2. Does look weird thought! Â

True, however this can also be achieved by other means than steam distribution, for example Battlefront is a publisher from which you order the game directly, and you get a hard copy just like you would from a store. EULA's in commercial games have zero legal ground here, when I buy a product I have the right to use it and the seller/manufacturer cannot just one day decide to destroy something I have legally purchased, not to mention about destroying other products that are not in any way related to it. What they're doing sounds more like mafia style tactics to me, they sell you a bunch of products and then suddenly decide to take them all away from you, forcing you to re-buy everything. They take the roles of the lawmaker, prosecutor, judge and executioner all to themselves which can not in any way be just. You said it right! - Steam = Mafia!

Just incase you forgot! Â

I'm sure that ArmA will have more realistic explosions. Will they be cumulative? I hope so, but the limit would be governed presumably by PC limitations. I'd rather have smaller explosions than dramatic lag! Â

- If this is the case then why the 5.5GB of disk space? Â No doubt the principles are sound, but the way it is implemented is unacceptable IMO. My PC isn't just used for playing games; it is also my workhorse. If I want to play a game I double click on it. As it is at the moment if I don't want Steam my only real option is to uninstall it, and tbh that 5.5GB of disk space can be put to much better use! Â
