It works brilliantly! The only thing you have to do is to move the Track ir to somewhere higher up so that it can see over the top of the lens. I've got shelving at the back of my desk so it went up there! Or you could put it on top of the lens if you constructed a box for the lens. Flying in FS2004 and IL2 Sturmovik has never been so realistic! Â

Yeah! From a gaming point of view for sure the C-130 would be a great asset. Short landing and takeoffs and great for airdrops for both machines and troops! It's also fun to fly slow and low, just right for ArmA! Â

I used that page as reference. If BIS use YAW as lean left and right they are'nt using the TIR correctly. YAW is not the same as lean. The X and Y in that table which are not supported by ArmA are the actual lean functions. YAW is the same kind of movement as when you push a flightstick left and right. But I'm not going to argue. I'll find out soon enough how it works in-game. I can't find that screen now but I remember it showing an assignment options screen in ArmA and the there was an option for soldier lean/peek to be assigned to Track ir 'roll'. Roll is same as tilt Shadow, maybe your confusing the different head movements, ...it's confused me enough times! Â

With my F550 my perceived monitor is about 50% bigger with very little blurring. Also sitting far back as I do there is no fishbowl effect either. My new 19" TFT recently had to go back as it was suffering from a screen centering problem (been gone over 2 weeks now, Acer customer service stinks! so I've been using my old 17" iiyama flat screen CRT. This lens though makes this 17" look more like a 28" and set back another 8"! ... I use it for surfing (right now) everything! Â I also can't understand why Icetech make their lens's square! Ever seen a square monitor? Â Edit2: Hmm! I see their VX-2 lens is 350 x 270mm so is 4:3, but that's still too small IMO! Is this what you guys are using?

No, TrackIR does not controll lean. Think of it as controlling your neck, not your whole upper body. ArmA doesnt support full Vector (6DOF). It supports normal panning left/right/up/down plus yaw and zoom. It does not support the lean-function which is the only part of Vector it doesnt support. The fluid stance in Ravenshield adjusts your whole upper body, not just your head. Yaw, pitch, roll and zoom. Â Check it here (second game down). And on a recent screeny of the new GUI for ArmA it showed the option of assigning 'roll' in Track ir to the lean function in ArmA.

Doh! Looks like another 'I'm bored what shall I do next' thread! Well as if anyone gave a monkeys, I'm expecting this game will be a huge improvement over OFP, and I spent untold hours playing with that game! Roll on ArmA! I'm waiting here with my Track ir and fresnel lens! VR here we come! Â Â

Like was said above the Track ir video is from the E3 press demo and is not the current build. Notice also in that pick how the Humvee is parked on top of an upright reflector post! Â Â Also compare the Humvee in your pick with the one above from WP's blog. Â Verdict: Old WIP. Â Also if you play that part of the video the thumb in question is undergoing an animation and is almost imposible to see it properly as it is very fast.

Yeah! And if it's me IRL I'll be opting for shorts and tee shirt and sod that fecking helmet in that heat! Â Â Calm down folks, like one of yas said it's a game. Realism counts but gameplay and preferences matter too! Â

Awesome!

Hmm! I use the F550 from 3dlens.com and I often sit with my eyes 30" away from the lens, with the lens 6" away from the monitor I can just about see the entire area of my 19" tft. The lens I use measures 400mm x 320mm so is bigger anyway as Icetecs are only 310mm square. I'm wondering just how accurate these focal lengths quoted by Icetec are though if you are having to sit close to the lens to see everything with a 550/600.

I have to agree with you there mate! ACU = pyjamas! Pyjamas Give me BDU anyday! Â

This thread is just getting so off topic! We need more updates BIS! .. Feed the community something new soon! Where are we now? What is the current state of affairs? Are you negotiating a publisher? What is the current progress of the game? Â Â Â Â Everyone is waiting here, and boredom is rife! Â
-
... I'm not so sure about that! ... Can you see the soldier? Â ACU works like any other camo ...useless in the wrong setting! Â In the right setting however...
-
The most logical answer yet! Good point Shadow and you could well have hit the nail on the head. Track ir will almost certainly require a fixed crosshair settup. As a user of Track ir I can see the logic in this! PS. Sorry to break your quoting chain lads!
-
Well I'm pretty certain that I think that it was confirmed that someone said that the fixed aim would possibly be optional! But I can't be 100% one way or the other though! Â Â Sorry folks! This discussion just makes me laugh! Â
-
... Same here mate! Something wrong with this?... Or this?... Looks fine to me! Â
-
... So how long have you been playing ArmA then to come to this conclusion so soon? I can't really comment much about ArmA yet 'cos I haven’t yet got the game! A far as I was aware BIS was still working on it, unless I've been misinformed!  I would expect to see plenty of polishing up on the graphics and animations since the last video that was shown so don't go jumping to conclusions! It seems that BIS is in a catch22 situation here! If they show their work as it progresses people won't like it! If they don't show their work as it progresses people won't like that either!   ... Doh! ... I give up! Â

Yeah, I have to agree that the lighting in the game is awesome. So no cards at present can handle AA+HDR?  Anyway, I’ve been playing coop with my wife tonight and with all textures set to high it performed perfectly! The game does look very good visually and I like the destructible objects and damage engine in general. Thanks for the texture tips!  PS. Did I read somewhere that they will be introducing GR1 style multiplayer game-play soon? Â
-
Thanks Shadow! I tried everything on high and it was a bit choppy in places but it looked great! I'm gonna try just some textures in high maybee ground & building textures and see how it runs then. How much ram are you using? I might swap some more in soon! It would look a lot better with FSAA but then I would have to sacrifice HDR probably as my AGP 6800 can't do both together. There's talk of them introducing FSAA in a new patch coming soon I understand. Great looking game though, just a shame about the dumb AI! The AI in GR1 was much better IMHO! Â

OK you got one! Â Â Â Â Â Â

If you check this pic against this pic you can see that the reflection in the sea is trying to follow the sun. It maybe that it is just not quite synchronized correctly. As for the angle that the sun makes across the sky in those latest pics, I'd say that this place is not quite tropical but more sub tropical and possibly during their winter. In a tropical region the sun does not deviate much at all from following an arc directly overhead during the middle of the day. In more temperate regions and the further north (or south) you go the sun follows an arc much closer to the horizon especially in winter. If you live in Alaska you probably don't see much of the sun in winter and it will be very low on the horizon even at noon! Your shadows would also be very long! I've spent time in Singapore and the Philippines and the sun there at noon is always pretty much directly overhead and thus the shadows are very small and only directly underneath objects! Oh, and it's bloody hot! Â
-
Doh! Thanks Shadow! Is it OK to change all texture quality settings from medium to high? I'm running a 3.2p4 with 1gb ram and a 6800 GS/XT card.

1) On leave, presumably back in the US. 2) Frank is his buddy and agreed to look after his blog during his absence. Â

NO!! Â Â Â OK, I adjusted the shadows! Hope it's all right now! Â
