I'm gonna do a Suma on you and say I am afraid you got it wrong! Â Â Pollution only makes the moon red or dark orange as red is the spectrum of light that can penetrate thick haze, Yellow is the moons natural color albeit a very bright faded yellow but this can deepen depending on atmospheric conditions (not necessarily pollution). However, the color of the moon aside, I still think we need to take into account that most artificial lighting especially street lighting is never white and often red or orange and shining your flashlight will reveal color etc. Rendering everything at night as black and white is unrealistic and spoils the immersion IMO! Â

Yep! People should hold their breath before spitting out elitist remarks! Â Sry! I couldn't resist it! Â Â Â
-
I've never seen nights in Elite! Is there color in Elite's nights or is it just good lighting effects?
-
The moon is never grey! I suggest you hold something grey up next to it and compare, I think you will then see that it has color. The problem is that there is little else to compare it with! My moons are often very orange! Think about what color the surface of the moon actually is - it's a sandy color, so that is pretty much what you see when the sun shines on it! Â
-
That's great! And don't forget that very few artificial lights are actually white! For instance sodium streetlights are usually orange or red. Inside lights of buildings (as seen through windows) is usually a yellow color. The moon is usually a yellowy color too except when low on the horizon when it can be a red! A fire burning at night would give a bright yellow/orange glow! Fireflies usually have a lime green glow! The light from a lighthouse is a strong white sometimes blue white as it is an arc light, but most car headlights would have a slightly yellow tone in comparison. Moral: Rendering everything in black and white at night is very unrealistic unless there are no lights at all! But then shine your flashlight at the ground and you will instantly see that the grass is very green indeed! Â

...And every quote is right? ...... LMAO!!

Oh dear! Placebo, you're starting to sound like an Englishman! Â ..... As for the 30/11/06 release date it was on the GC movie supplied by Morphicon. (German publisher)...

Nice vid, thanks telejunky! I see swaying palm trees is still in (at about the 12.40 mark in vid). This gives us some idea of the scale of Sahrani and it looks massive! We see only the south island so far. Can't wait for the demo! Â
-
Yeah your right Lee_H._Oswald! These things were OK in OFP but they had their limitations. With all the new features in ArmA a Jurassic Park line up of creatures could be awesome! Â
-
Thanks for that! Just give me some deer and a fox too and I'll be happy! Â
-
So I was right...Using two versions of every building (damage=0 and damage =1), then disguise the transition with smoke/explosion effect! Still that is 100 times better than crumpled paper or no damage at all! Can't wait to try it! I think I can smell me some diving mods in the making! Â

Well you guys, I'm pleased to say there is no bunny hoping for soldiers, but it seems it is included for heavy armour! Yup! The tank dance is still in! I'm not sure how 46 tonnes of tank is supposed to behave when taking a direct hit with a sabot but I don’t think it would bunny hop like this!   46 tonnes of tank landing on one track .... I hope BIS has included ground deformation into the landscape!  Anyway, everything else is looking superb and another 2-3 months of development still to go, so many things yet to be finnished! Â

That's cool! Is the water gone properly or does it still kill you even though it's not there? Â Â And do the boats now float in mid air or are they all grounded on the sand? Me wants to build a sand castle! ... But wait it could be a tsunami! Â
-
... from ofp.info ... Can anyone confirm this rabbit thing then? Â
-
LMAO Zorbtek! Â Â .... How much U just had to drink? Â
-
Well with all respect, I don't think that you can compare an occasional underwater camera bug from OFP (which I certainly never saw) with the deliberate and perfectly rendered underwater view that we saw in that vid! Â So I for one am very excited about this new feature as it opens up many more possibilities with the new water in ArmA. The water in OFP was very unexciting, not very user friendly and was it's worst graphical let down IMO. Â PS. I never actually got that transparent water mod to work in OFP, so I can't comment on whether it was any good or not!
-
.... Does it? Well I'll be blowed! In the 4 yrs of playing OFP I've never managed to get the camera to go underwater! You must have the 'sub aqua' version of OFP! Please show me some screens ..... Â
-
Yea! Maybe I got carried away with the sheep, cows, horses, dogs etc.! I'm happy for domestic animals to be made by the community as they are really only cosmetic anyhow. What I would like though, now that BIS is giving us rabbits, is for a few more wild creatures. Deer and foxes for example could add a lot of atmosphere to any sneaking through forest missions! Wild animals that are easily startled like wild deer can give you a heart attack when they suddenly leap up from in front of you and bolt off into the distance breaking everything in their path! The same with wood pigeons and other forest birds that get startled by your presence and suddenly take off from a branch right next to you! Or you spend half an hour sneaking up on that enemy hiding in the undergrowth only to discover it was a fox building a den! Then it bolts off into a nearby field alerting an enemy SAW soldier who opens fire in your general direction! Yea, wildlife if properly implemented could add a whole new dimension of immersion into the game! Â ..... If this is the case then I think we're nearly there! Â
-
Quote from ofp.info review: So it seems we will now have rabbits too! This is contrary to the interview with Placebo a few months back! Â Â BIS is obviously adding things as they go along! .... keep going along BIS! .... I want sheep, cows, horses, dogs .................

I'm really excited about the new sea and water effects for ArmA! This sea is already looking more realistic than the one in Ship Simulator! There are no waves in the sea in Ship Simulator, how crappy is that! All I need is for the boat handling to be realistic and ArmA will be my new Ship Sim! ......and tank sim and chopper sim/flightsim/car sim/bike sim/soldier sim/civi sim! Â

Using two versions of every building (damage=0 and damage =1), then disguise the transition with smoke/explosion effect I think it is possible, but not dynamic destruction of course!
-
Yep! Hopefully swimming and snorkelling will be a possibility now! Â With regards the Harrier hopefully STOL/VTOL will be implemented as this is already part of the heli dynamics. Quote: 4. Will all buildings be destroyable? - Yes, in the final version of the game there will be debris and rubble.
-
Calm down folks! I think it's called 'ribbing'! Everyone has their accuracy standards in life! Â Â .... What doesn't matter to one is a biggy for another! One thing though, with all those lovely new smoke effects I hope that BIS has implemented some decent coughing and chocking sounds! Â
-
I thought it was possible to play OFP wide screen by simply altering the FOV values in the config. Â Â I've seen this in a thread somewhere for sure! Â PS. I believe from the last interview that they are still working on the 'water meets shore' textures and anims. The water itself though is probably alreade done.

And so for an update on my experiment with eDimensional 3D glasses! I eventually received a replacement set yesterday so I eagerly reinstalled the drivers from their website to try them out! OK, first off they didn’t work! All the usual tests (TV remotes etc.) were negative too! Great start! So I unclipped the battery case removed them and replaced them and wiggled them … OH great the glasses working now! I’ll cut a long and frustrating story short..  I can now get 3D in most games. Problem is the frame rate for one makes them all pretty crappy if completely unplayable. Flickering is unbelievable and this is not just the expected 75hz divided by two but very annoying flickering every few seconds. I tried all their fixes too. FS2004 was worst and frame rates drop from about 60fps to about 8fps! Far Cry was a slide show and right eye was too bright to see properly while left eye was too dark! 3D did not work at all in GR. OFP would not load just hang on start-up same with GTA San Andreas which would just CTD. Ship Simulator (Yeh I know! looked shit with lines everywhere and was a slide show in slow motion! Live for speed wasn’t bad but double image was visible through glasses and only a slightly better slide show! All games had the usual 75hz divided by two flickering and gamma was right down. There were fine horizontal lines too on all games in 3D. Eventually the horizontal lines were permanent even without 3D turned on and I had to disconnect the dongle from between the PC and the monitor to return to normal viewing! No doubt another malfunction by which time I couldn’t have given a shit, because these things were on their way back as far as I was concerned! eDimensional claim that these glasses will work with TFT monitors but they don’t! They claim no more than a 50% drop in frame rates! Boll***s! From 60fps to 8FPS is not 50%! They claim they will work on virtually every game too! Well I’ll be blowed! I probably missed the bit where they say that you’ll be happy forever after! Moral: If you have a TFT don’t bother with these, not yet anyhow! I put my Fresnel lens back up and it looked a hundred times better! …A massive virtual monitor, great depth of view giving virtual 3D, no loss of frame rates or gamma, no flickering, no malfunction, no compatibility issues and no aggravation! I’ll be waiting for some better products to come along before I try and go 3D stereo again!  Â
