That's some pretty wild country there MrZig! Nice pictures but it is ashame that the middle two are under exposed. I've edited the exposure levels in those pics for you and you can now see much more detail .... Pic1 Pic2

Hell, I nearly forgot to mention my latest project....

The last two pics that I posted were taken in the Lake District in 2004 (Buttermere & Derwent Water with rainbow). This one is also of Derwent Water taken in the same week... Hi Res Yep I've still got my old RR Classic.... I have also driven 90's for work (towing trailers) I now have a V8 Discovery.... Nicely converted to run on LPG, which at 14mpg around town is very useful! Â PS. The trick of keeping water out of the engine bay when deep fording is to keep the engine reving under low range and keep up enough speed through the water so that you create a big bow wave in front of the bonet. This stops the water getting under the bonnet and flooding the electrics. It takes a lot of nerve though and is quite scary as you first plunge into the water! Â Â Most of my fording has usually only been half way up the wheel arches and this is usually OK in a RR, Disco and Defender without any wading kit! Â But you really need to keep up that bow wave at that depth! Â

Not rejecting DigitalD just Steam! Or at least Steam as I remember it a year ago! Â

Hi Res Hi Res

Exactly! That's why we need guys like you! Â

.... Unless your looking for variants! This one kicks ass!.... Either way I'm happy with the VBS ones ... the rest can be modded! Â
-
One things for sure, I can see a lot of publishers kicking themselves in the ass over this! Â

I'm just glad we got our LR Defender in the game! … Much prettier than a Humvee! Â
-
New please! Â

That's a puddle! Â Â I've been up to my door handles in my old RR Classic (well nearly) and I had no snorkel either! That's a nice looking Ninety though and you've obviously kitted it out for some serious stuff ... so let's see what she can do! Â

I've not posted in this thread before, but as a keen photo/editor I should give my odd 2cents occasionally! This one I took last week at 6am out of the cottage window that we stayed at in Mid Wales. Hi Res I only got up for a piss but the camera was there and so was the view! They say the best shots are those grabbed by chance! I'll post some more soon. Â

When you put a lens in front of your face you are not looking at the lens but the magnified projected image of the monitor behind it. Also because your eyes are focusing further away than normal it is actually less stressful on the eyes. Rather than constantly focusing 18" or less at a flat screen you are focusing out nearer to infinity, as this is how the projected image appears through a lens. As benreeper said similar lenses are used to help old folk with bad eyesight to read newspapers etc.! Â With regards to the IR beam emitted by the TIR device I think that is a bit of a lame concern! Infrared is a very abundant and very safe form of radiation and is nothing more than the red spectrum of light that is out of our normal viewing range. In other words it is just a form of light that we are not able to see with our eyes. That desktop light next to you computer is probably emitting 100 times or more IR than the TIR on the top of your monitor! As for combining a Fresnel lens with TIR I can confirm that it is a very cool combination, and is currently the most cost effective VR setup ATM. Â

Journeyman replied to Thunderbird's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
If you've followed TB through his various mods you will know that it is impossible for him to simply make a patch without completely reworking the entire mod! Â Â .... I just hope that no new bugs are introduced through this current reworking though! Â It all looks and sounds great TB! I just hope that you will finalize it shortly so we can all give OFP one last blast before the ArmA demo comes out which could be anytime soon. Â -
That is true, but the most important thing is that the sodium lights are shown as orange and not white! It would be extra cool if BIS could then put an orange filter over the whole lit area to show the lit area in an orange glow diffusing the colors accordingly. The picture below I took last weekend at a cottage we stayed at, and was taken with no flash or any other light source. A fire also gives off an orange glow and this would surely be important in a game where fire is modelled into the damage engine. Â
-
It is actually a very interesting topic and I think more clarification from BIS would be useful mainly with regards to slow moving vehicles such as ships and aircraft carriers. This is the only area that I would like to see this feature working. IRL it is not usually practical to walk around and shoot off the back of a speeding truck anyhow! But ships for sure we need this and for mod makers waiting to start ships and carrier addons more info is needed as to whether the new engine will be more workable in this area! Â

Thanks! Nice vid and shows off the vegetation quite well, but considering your specs and the fact that HDR and shadows were disabled I was a bit disappointed with frame rates. I would hope very much that BIS can optimise the game a lot more than this. Frame rates struggled a lot there esp. when smoke effects kicked in and the graphics looked rather bland with HDR and shadows disabled! Unless it is just the video, but it reminded me of old OFP with too many units! Â

There seems to be a growing interest in virtual 3D and stereo glasses for PC gaming these days and some companies are getting more noticed than others. There are still a lot of do’s and don’ts, ifs and buts and better information and support I feel is needed to assist us all in making the right choices in hardware and for matching different PC configurations etc. I speak from my own immediate experience, that of  eDimensional.com where there apparatus has yet to deliver a result for me. Of course we all have different experiences of different devices and most of the time it will be down to different PC configurations etc., but all experiences I think should be shared so that we can have some impact on consumer choices in this growing marketplace. The much acclaimed Edimensional 3D wireless glasses have had zero impact on me so far as the device has simply not functioned on my system. I followed the instructions to the ‘letter’, but all I got was screwed up games that in most cases would not run at all, crash to desktop or show either blank or un-viewable screens. The drivers for this device are a mess! For example if you have nVidia drivers you cannot use the eDimensional ones if you have a CRT monitor and cannot use nVidia stereo drivers if you have a LCD/TFT monitor! I use nVidia drivers for my Gforce 6800GS but because I have a LCD monitor I was loaded with the eDimensional stereo drivers! … If it worked I would probably not have cause to complain but unfortunately for me these drivers don’t work on my system or on another system that I have, and the only thing in common with the two is a similar monitor! I even tried nVidia stereo drivers but these won’t make these glasses work on my systems either! …What a mess! But wait … Just phone the tech support number given on the website! We all know what that means for many companies … the usual recorded message pretending that ‘all available technicians are currently dealing with other customers’!  It’s the usual copout from having to have support staff on the end of a phone ... we all know that! OK so I try the email support! …. Well I’m still waiting to hear back as of yet so I will report back here when I have had some ‘hopefully useful’ assistance! Meanwhile any other 3D stereo glasses experiences and advises would be most welcome! Â

Hmm! So it seems the wired ones aren't any better either! I hope you get a reply from them soon, they are incredibly slow at support! I'm still waiting for them to let me know where to send mine back to for a refund! Â The whole thing seems like a complete shambles to me! And yet previously I had read such good reviews of these glasses! .. Clearly not with a TFT though that's for sure! Â

What are the parameters that make a boat or APC float in OFP/ArmA? Can these parameters then not be applied to a soldier model under certain circumstances and given a swimming anim at the same time? I think the COC Mod team need to come out of the woodwork! Â
-
Yea! Thanks Matt, I knew that and I have had a lot of fun with those Trikes by Sebastian Muller in OFP! I really meant for BIS to include one by default, but I'm happy to wait for a mod if not. I never liked the looped sound effect with Sebastian's OFP Trike either and also there was the usual collision detection problem when landing. If you landed just under 55kts everything was fine but just over and you're dead! Â Hopefully these landing issues will be addressed in ArmA though.
-
I'm hoping for one of these! Tree hopping in the FSX demo in this thing is great fun! Â The other thing with regards to civilians, I know we can't have children but old people would be fun! You just need a different walking and running (or collapsing) anim for them! Those in GTA make me laugh! Â

So you have a blue moon? Hmmm, what's that saying erm... 'Once in a blue moon' ... that's it!   I think one thing we need to remember is that everyone sees color slightly differently. I discovered this when I started to have arguments with my wife about the color of a fleece jacket! For me it was definitely brown but she insisted that it was green! I've had this also with green and blue so there are obviously differences in how we all see or interpret different colors. Sure when the lights are very dim you don't see color just shades of grey. I did quite a bit of nighttime orienteering when I was younger and did some 24-hour mountain challenges where we were forced to use our natural night vision. If you turn on a light you temporarily lose your night vision and then can only see as far as the light shines, turn it off and you can't see anything for a few minutes until your retina adjusts and then you see everything in black and white except for the darkest shadows .. very eerie! But then you look into the distance and see a town lit up with an orange/red glow from the street lighting or the dancing orange light from someone’s bonfire! I just hope that BIS can find a way to implement color at night where it obviously would be IRL! Â
