i used a CD key for installing on a dedi, but since the dedi didn't actually ever use the CD key you could use the CD key from your client game with no FADE issues.
-
you think the likes of dedifrag et al really lock down their FTP's that well???? and you'd be surprised at what people can do if you give them enough information, don't think the people that you put down as hackers/script kiddies are dumb and don't know what their doing. you know what they said about assumption!!

why bother to host a server to get the ID's when its much eaier to hack the server FTP access and DL whole log files of ID's, IP's and MD5 hashes

squadserver has ceased business after a disagreement between its owners, i know cause i was one of the owners. i have set up as Milsim-Servers, currently have a q6600@3.2 rented out to 53IB and i have spaces on a q6600@3.5Ghz. you can get hold of my via PM on here, or take a look at the website i threw together and contact my via that. Esco hmm, it appears my sig isn't working http://www.milsim-servers.co.uk/

technically speaking they have taken your money and not given you a refund yet while they sort out a serious staffing issue. while you may feel that you have been ripped off for your $50 the owners of squadserver have lost in the region of $10,000 due to the dissapearance of a member of staff, and as has been posted on the SS forums you will be refunded for any lost service. if it makes you feel better to vent on these forums then that is all well and good, there is allready a company that has agreed to take over the US customers that squadserver is no longer able to provide the required services for.

if your server hits 5-10 FPS on a PvP then your really need some new hardware. there is very little scripting/trigger etc overhead on a true PvP mission (CTF/A&D/C&H). unlike the majority or COOP which are heavily scripted. it is for these reasons that knowledgable server hosts would offer different specs for different game types. a server that can handle a 32man CTF mission could easily get overwhelmed if a 32man COOP/EVO was used on the same settings.

do you allready have a dedicated box for the tother servers and your just looking for information on how to add another game onto it or are you looking to rent a server? if its the later maybe i can help

With framerates like that i doubt it has anything to do with your line. What hardware are u trying to run the server exe on? CPU type and speed and amount of RAM are the most important specs, from their it might be possible to ascertain what kind of framerate u can expect. ArmA is one of the most server intensive games around, its not like BF2 and CS:S where u can use some old netburst pentium 4e and expect it to run smooth. first step is to lock the server.exe to one core, this stops the OS moving it around if u have a dual core or HT CPU, this in itself induces lag, as the exe is halted moved and restarted.

i use vista for gaming as well, 3GB and DX10 768Mb card, hence i stopped at 3GB the issues with custom faces is probably due to permissions, which vista is much harder on, you could try running the game " as administrator", right click the icon and select from the menu instead of double left clicking. this gives the arma.exe more permissions, BF2 has similar issues with vista and PB, since when not running as admin vista locks the exe out of some other folders. might be worth a go anyway

hmm, so your starting the client version and then hitting "new" on the MP screen assuing you have a man enough PC there should be no reason why u can't start a local dedi-server with either the server.exe or the -server switch, and then boot up your regular game you could always try adding some switches onto your regualr start which might work -config=server.cfg (forces the game to read the file specified allows the use of different .cfg files0 -cfg=arma.cfg (again, allows uses the specified file) -profiles=profiles (reads the profile stored in the root arma directory, not c:/my documents/users/ blah/blah/blah) not guarunteeing any of these but might be worth a go Esco

you test em locally bacon? maybe corrupt upload? i have had issues UL from vista to a non-vista machine, that was with the SBS server also with AF, that gay web panel is shite for UL's they should use a proper FTP system. if u need em hosting somewhere for AF to DL em direct i can sort that for you, hit me up on PM Esco

in which case ramp up the BW settings from 65~100Mbit to something like 250~350Mbit. i'm guessing you will need to split that Gbit between the 3 clients but i'm not 100% with that kinds speed the world is your oyster, lol

running it on a lan u can tinker wthout worry, although the lan port is gigabit what the BW of the router/switcher feeding your other lan clients this is the settings that are being used on some of our 100Mbit servers and the explanations <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">MaxMsgSend=512; Â Â Â Â //can be increased on a high performance server MinErrorToSend=0.008; Â Â Â //if you're seeing jumping from a long range (11 for linux box) MaxSizeGuaranteed=512; Â Â Â //should be as low as the server can handle MaxSizeNonguaranteed=384; Â //higher bandwidth usage but better fps MinBandwidth=65536000; Â Â Â // (set to 65mb MaxBandwidth=104800000; Â Â // set to 100mb/s u can prolly raise the non guarunteed up to 512 or 768 given as u only have 2 clients to feed either something like this <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">MaxMsgSend=1024; MinErrorToSend=0.008 MaxSizeGuaranteed=512 MaxSizeNonguaranteed=384; MinBandwidth=65536000; MaxBandwidth=104800000; or <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">MaxMsgSend=768; MinErrorToSend=0.008 MaxSizeGuaranteed=768 MaxSizeNonguaranteed=512; MinBandwidth=65536000; MaxBandwidth=104800000; obviously altering your min error back to 0.0001

How can I install addon properly to a server?
RN Escobar replied to fabiantronc's topic in ARMA - MULTIPLAYER
overwriting the PBO is one approach, some people like to keep to stock files stock and use mod folders for anything else. this keeps the original stuff safe and should stop any issues down the road, for instance if you wanted to run another mod that affected plants.pbo not having the original might cause issues leaving you with the option of finding the original or doing a reinstall. mod folders are easy to use and work round all this type of issue. league play for example should require all players to be using a standard set of stock files, not having the right plants.pbo would therefore exclude you. my 2c gertting back on topic is the mod called @Truemods or @TrueRange?? the -mod= parameter should be exactly the same as the name of the folder. within that folder should be a sub-folder called addons with the all the files within that. feel free to post over at SS forums or PM me if u need further help -
never had any trouble with any version and never needed any switches had huge problems with Nvidia drivers, and rolled them back to some old ones that worked, had to get them from guru3d C2D 6600 OC'd to around 3Ghz 8800GTX @ stock 2Gb corsair XMS2pro (recently added another 2x512sticks to give 3GB and keep dual channel) asus P5B-Deluxe Wifi Ap raptor 10k for OS and ArmA 2 X 320Gb SATAII for other Aps and data Vista 32

it seems most of our clients are using durgs veg fix. when used server side only it affects the opposition ai in coop's if clients use it as well then it means that player controlled ai also won't shoot through the bushes

Vista Troubleshooting Thread: The one and only
RN Escobar replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
see i specifaically didn't go to 4GB when i recently bought some more RAM, cause i knew there was no point at all. 32bit adress limit is 4GB total, this is for every memmory address in the system. 8800GTX needs 768Mb of address space, meaning even i had bought 4GB of RAM i would only ever get to see 3.25 at best, since windoze steals some addresses for itself anyway, system i/o stuff. so i just found myself 2 sticks of 512 to add to my 2 1GB sticks giving me 3GB still in dual channel. extra performance of more RAM but with no limitation of losing dual channel, no ArmA crashes nothing. of course 64 bits systems are different, and IMO completely unnesscessary, AMD pulled of the swindle of the century telling us we needed 64bit. -
Squad server are currently building more UK servers, drop us a mail

i have no idea of your knowledge of mods, but i took this to mean that you thought the modified files were the cheats i was just pointing out that they are not. if u have the spare CPU power then nutty's tool is good, but as a rental company it's overheads are too high. we don't use anything that isn't readily available and as such there are no tools to release. i meant no offence, if u took it............. meh and once u understand the conclusion i came too about the above quote then maybe the line about your ban.txt will be taken the way it was meant, a bit of tongue in cheek.
-
QG is copyrighted You could ship the disk to your server host and have them install that way. maybe buy it as a digital DL and DL it straight to the server aside from that u will just have to UL it overnight there are of course other methods, but the legality of those methods is grey at best, and as such i will not post them, LOL
-
none of those mods are out of the ordinary DBE1 is queens gambit @FDF is a sound mod and used by a large% of the active players out there @FFAM is another mod that i have seen used by a large number of players these 3 mods are standard mods. if u think that these mods are cheats thank f*** i don't play on your server, u must be a ban happy SOB with a ban.txt of such a size to rival a well used servers net.log file and as for sharing the information, why should those that put the time and energy in give their info away. Brit uses the same system that we use at SquadServer, i know how much time and effort it takes to track down these scum bags. He uses that info to protect himself, we at SS use the info to protect all our servers. the idea is good, but sharing is a 2 way thing, unless your going to install the relevant software, do the ground work and give the info back its not sharing. of course if u wanted to be protected you could always rent from a better server provider
-
the voice quiets that were released for OFP only modded the soldiers voices for specific commands, its the same people that did it for ArmA so i would assume they did the same thing. what i'm getting at is that its not a global "voice quiet", it shouldn't remove every voice, just those for "spotted", "movement", "attack" etc etc its possible though, i must admit i haven't looked into it. what are the mods u have loaded?

OPTIONS/SOUND tried looking there? 3 sliders, effects, radio, music, try turning the one labelled radio up
