My ping is between 1-5 when I connect or view on the LAN -or Remote- screen. I connected it directly to the Verizon Fios router. Theirs a ICMP setting in the Verizon router, which was one of the settings I tried first, didn't help. DMZ'd = didn't help. Rebooting comps and routers after each setting=didn't help. Everything gives me the same result. I have to put it all back the way it was after all this. :P
I've never used Hamachi. That's a tunneling app right? Never used it... I'll try.
If I get a correct ping I'll point the finger at Verizon. If I don't I'll point the finger at GameSpy. lol. ;)
EDIT: Also I have a dual boot WinXP/Linux same result on both OS's, just as a note. The servers work great on both, just the ping on the internet page is reporting wrong (2500) as mentioned before. I was pretty confident my network settings were good in the first place, eh what can ya do? I'll try that Hamachi and report back.
UPDATE: Ah k I see what hamachi is. Its a software auto-VPN deal, so that won't help since my only problem is the ping count on the Internet page. My real Internet ping is actually 64 when I do it from a prompt so it should be reporting 64 not 2500. LAN/Remote is 2 average. I'll live with it since theirs nothing I can do. Almost zero people want to join since it looks so high, that's what really sucks. :P
UPDATE: Ugh. OK I'm officially blind! j/k. But for some reason I thought I had computer+server>switch>gateway. But I forgot I had computer+server>wap/router>gateway and the switch>wap/router eh retarded. So it was just a matter of opening the port on the wap/router+gateway to let both comps through. I need a Gigabit wap/router with at least 8 ports. Anyways, now all is good. At least I got an updated firmware for the wap/router out of the mess. :P

Why is it when i fly a jet with ace after about 2 minutes of flying my screen goes red,blue and sometimes black?wtf!
Check your airspeed + how fast you are turning. Either blood if flooding to your brain or flooding to your feet.
Just wanted to give props to you guys. ACE2 is getting better and better. Keep it up! Thx 4 the hard work!

Anyone figured out what exactly is causing this yet? I DMZ'd the server and turned off the routers filters (DDWRT) and still it shows up 2500. Same result on WinXP and Linux 1.05 dedserver.

People Help and me please :confused: I downloaded the latest version of СAA1 exe. file! install all good! jast have problem to use CAA1+++ MODS :o i have this line:"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2caa1full.exe" for start normal CAA1.
And i put next :

Kesh, CAA1 doesn't come in an exe as far as I recall. You must have downloaded someones compressed version. If so, and you extracted it, it might be in @CAA1 folder in your ArmA2 directory. your shortcut should be "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -mod=@CBA;@CAA1;@ACE;@ACEX;@ACEX_SM

Kabong that's a good idea. Their are some objects (walls in Everon off the top of my head) that need a little adjustment. I wish he could pass the torch to someone who wants to take it over for the tweakage. It would also be nice to unify it as one mod -like some are doing- and just put it old school into a @CAA1 directory. @CAA1_[different style] for the others, because most are using one style.

Lol..when haven't they..they were not able to cross it in ArmA1 let alone in a ported mission :icon_lol:and another lol for the video
I always got them to cross, as you can see in the vid. Just put a waypoint at one end and another at the other end set to limited speed. Simple as that.

So I threw in another old mission and updated norrins revive script to 0.4(i think) and it works great again! Good stuff! ;)
I remember why I stopped trying to port over missions. Armor had a problem crossing the bridge at Corazol. That's basically it lol. :D I thought I'd do something else until it's more developed. That was a while ago. I haven't tried the BMP over the bridge test yet. We all know what happens when they do cross the bridge...

I seem to be having a few problems with getting CAA1 to work after downloading through yoma addon sync.After using the mission Fly like an eagle as a test I keep getting the following error,
Cannot load world 'ca\sara\sara.wrp'
My shortcut is as follows,
"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -mod=x\caa1;x\oac\oac_core -world=sara -nosplash
Also I'm not getting the maps in the editor either, even though after going the folders everything seems to be there.
Hehe I have searched these forums, caa1 wiki and google and have come up with nothing so I'm really stumped as to what is wrong.
Two things you should do 1. Don't load sara in the world. Just put -world=empty. 2. If you are loading an old mission you have to edit its mission.sqm. Try looking for the line/lines:
"sara",
and change it to:
"oac_core",
It should be near the top and near the bottom of mission.sqm.
I ported over an old mission yesterday and I had to change over a couple of other things to get it to work properly. The first thing you should do is create a new mission in Sahrani and save it with vehicles and units you like then look at the mission.sqm and compare what needs to be changed in the old missions.

I don't use Yoma to run it I manually made the shortcut if that's what you're talking about. If you don't have @CBA addon it will give you a missing extendedeventhandler error if I remember correctly. UPDATE: OK I understand. I just ported over the old Tied Up mission. It's not too hard to do. I just changed the names of vehicles and units to new ones, changed "sara" to "oac_core" in the mission.sqm, then changed the music triggers to ArmA2 music, and updated Norrins revive script to the new one and everything works great. Even some of the things I missed were easily changeable in the Editor.
Totally NouberNou. Yoma is the easiest I found to stay updated, but it could be simplified for sure.

Lot's of assumptions in your post. From my mouth : "More people are more inclined to criticize rather than support because they either have nothing better to do or they have their own personal problems and venting without consequences helps". The actual consequence is the author thinking "wtf am I doing this for? These morons?" That's just one reason why I totally understand where kju is coming from. Not everyone is a moron! That's a given. And I'm not pointing fingers at anyone person in particular.
Also, the people who PM or Email hobbyists with "______ doesn't work" without explanation is through the ROOF! (Another reason I don't share some hobby work). It would be more helpful if they actually posted in the forums so more can help, but they don't for some reason. So that also contributes to a hobbyists frustration.
You know how many people still don't know to install a mod?? Even though it's posted 100 times?? It's insane! And what do they do? They PM or Email the mod-maker. :p Google search or forum search should give a the quickest answer.
Most of my hobby stuff stays at home, with just me and my friends playing it on LAN. I get better/useful input that way.
Here's what I assume is why kju discontinued work on this project. Other users discontinued support. Which is more important than BIS support. BIS have done whatever they can do to release tools and the OK to do it. It's more of a community responsibility to help kju than anything else. If I wasn't doing other projects I would help.
If more converted older missions (including myself) I think it would have been a more user supported project.
I'll try to convert some of my older missions over. I planned on doing it but never got around to it.
The way I'm playing CAA1 is:
1. Updating/installing by Yomas Addon Sync 2009 (set to run as administrator in Windows7)
2. Copying the ArmA2 shortcut on the desktop with the Target
"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -nosplash -mod=@CBA;x\caa1;x\oac\oac_core -world=empty -showScriptErrors
I have @CBA to clear out the extendedeventhandler error when you first run it.
It took me 15min to write this blab. I hope it was useful lol. Everybody should keep in mind, let's all be helpful to each other because at the end of the day we all just want to play a GREAT long mission with our friends! Right!?

Understandable kju. I get stupid comments on my youTube comparing some mod from 2007 to the same mod today. I agree stupid useless people see to be louder than good people, main reason is they're losers with a childs mentality that want to feel better by talking shit to someone that they know can't knock them the ____ out. Would be nice if you can send a punch through the internet. Maybe in 3010? :D
Anyways, enough about the weak, I just like to say I'm addicted to putting a littlebird on the airfield and flying around Sahrani, remembering good fights from not too long ago. I thoroughly appreciate all your work and I personally know how frustrating it is to get anything done in such a dynamic situation so thanks so much for your time and effort man! I wish you the best in 2010! ;)

1. Start a new MP mission in the Editor
2. Create a infantry group
3. Create Trigger
4. Group Trigger to infantry group
5. Set the Trigger to "Whole group"
6. Put your mouse over the Trigger and try to Copy/Paste (Ctrl+C/V)
7. Crashes with "ArmA 2 has stopped working"

Doesn't a higher rank setting in the Editor take over when the highest rank respawns? The next in rank should always take over when the lead dies, until the lead respawns.

OK SimpleGPS is out of Beta. So far I've had no trouble. One thing I noticed is when a unit is in a vehicle the arrow pointed in the wrong direction. Mostly fixed North. So I fixed that and that should be it as far as glitches. If you notice anything post here and I'll try to fix it. If you use it in a mission post a link, I'd like to check it out in action. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAWwwwwwwwwwwwwwww CRAP!! I forgot about "isDedicated" function again!! :P Ok I'm going to put it in... Ugh...how retarded. Build 4 coming right after I double check if it works on both Local and Dedicated... I have to remember that function next time, it's a lifesaver.

UPDATE: Beta 4 is up! I ended up using if(!isServer || local player) to test locality, not isDedicated. The cool thing is it seems much faster initially loading now, you guys can compare. If everything is OK I think this is very close to being out of Beta. ;)

I thought of adding another option that would be cool.While playing a mission on 3rd Marines server I saw the players had arrows for icons which pointed in the direction they were looking. I'll add it as an option in the next ver. ie: _dirArrows= true/false //default = false

Just finished -sort of- testing this out. What I wanted to do is make one file I can plop into any mission and quickly have name markers in the game. There were a couple of really old copies snagged from my missions hosted on servers, but those are not only old but they are tweaked for those missions because at the time I didn't make them universal. But this will be the real v1.0 when it's out of Beta. ;) Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
PS: Try it with "cheater" option and AIMarkers on. The most important setting is "isDedicated" so set that correct for sure.

A couple things. Put the "-showScriptErrors" command in your shortcut (on client). I play with that all the time and I see on major servers that their are errors. So it could just be a bunch of endless loops -probably when people JIP- building up and building up until death. Increasing the pagefile should make it last longer but also show the slowing (as a -logged in- admin type "#monitor" to see the servers FPS). You guys already noted the RPT. Report what you find.

People, try the beta -make sure your shortcut points to the beta exe-and cut your viewdistance to the minimum -don't complain yet- ALL the way left!! Then work your way up from there. If it still sucks still toss your rig or play MW2 for single player fun and play ArmA2 for MP fun. LOL! Thank GOD BIS is not EA, one patch a year!! :p

It also depends on the type of crash. If it's a BSD its 90% of the time a hardware issue. If ArmA just quits it's usually a software/video card driver issue. Even bad scripting causes ArmA to crash. I made a script that turns markers to triggers and spawns units. When you go away from the trigger it despawns the units, but the despawning wasn't working and everytime I flew in a jet I'd set off enough that it would crash/quit out ArmA. So maybe it's just the mission causing most of the headaches. I'd still get 64-bit W7 and be done with the mismatched computer setup.

What kklownboy said. Plus why didn't you install W7 64-bit? W7 is a thread and RAM hog. With 64-bit you'd be using all the RAM you paid for plus the OS threads would use less cycles so more free power and RAM for ArmA2. I'm sure you can figure something out to get it to perform better, your rig isn't bad but I'd always suspect latency issues with mixmatched-yours is not- or unused RAM. Also try the betas. Performance is noticeably improved. Good luck bud, we're all in this together! ;)

Man good idea, but still didn't work. :P I'll try passing it after the mission starts instead of "this setCaptive true" in its init...
UPDATE: Nope. Even 5.0 sleep and "ammo_1 setCaptive true;" didn't work. I'm out of ideas. The best I can do for this mission is not setting the east, west, or resistance friend 0 to the civilian side just to play the game, then wait for a fix. BTW guys FYI if a trigger is over any empty vehicle (on my mission m2hmv and mgunoffroads) and you have a Civilian trigger over them, when the mission starts the trigger will go off.

Because I just put that code to pass 60 sleep after the mission starts and it WORKED! Oh well I guess this is better than having score problems and AI problems...I'm still hopeful BIS will fix Empty to be a totally different side.

The destination is a BIS server. Is this Battleye? If it is that would explain why some people are having BE problems.
