This explains it, he's an emo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1THLjPVK14 I am still suprised that someone can get so worked up because of a game, even for an emo. Depressing to think that this stream evolved from Punk.

A Happy birthday in foward! :) Oh man, I imagine that the CD is tempting you to install it. ;) I share the opinion of the OP, afterall these years of awesome games it's quite a feat that BI stayed what they did best. I can't say that for most companies, sooner or later they would disappoint me by overly mainstreaming their products for more profit. I remember as if it was yesterday when I tried the demo of Operation Flashpoint, I was really astonished and at the same time impressed. It was a dream come true, and played the demo longer than I played any other demo. When I finally bought the Gold version of OFP I was even more impressed. What other games? :D There isn't a lot of competition in this field. Hmm maybe I should rephrase that. There isn't any competition. ;) Thanks BI for all those years! A while back I found a Thank you BI video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lExET8zP2Mc

Yes, the flying and avionics are pretty awesome but the AI is really lacking. Useless trees, and of course the lacking of a dynamic campaign makes it even worse. I rather stick with Open Falcon for modern goodness, and Over Flanders Fields for some WW1 simulation. This homemade motion sim looks pretty good.

Big change that the console version of ArmA2 will end up like OFP:Elite, that was not the most popular game. Mainly because it was missing the instant gratification and regenerating health. I think the days of great ports for the consoles are over, I still remember the day that I put Populous in my Sega Master System that I got as a birthday present. It came with a massive manual, and I thought before I got it that it was a platform game (I was only 11 back then), it was pure bliss when I finally grasped the concept of godgames. Nowadays people's heads exploded when they come into contact with such a game on the consoles, except for a minority. Even Civilization has been watered down for the consoles while a pure port of Civ1 was released for the SNES. It's a shame that the industry has declined so far, that most publishers see it as a Personal Console, and port console games to it instead of making true PC games such as ArmA. I use my PC for that, and for some mindless fun I turn on a console.

It's not the main reason that I don't use it, I like Opera. True, but you can limit it by not using other stuff that do that too. Anti-piracy software sounds more like anti-consumer in my ears. ;)

Firefox on XP and Opera on XP64. I am not interested in Chrome, it's by Google afterall. The number one internet webspying ad company, I don't even use google anymore, I just discovered Scroogle. The only google thing I still use is Youtube, but that's declining pretty fast with all those ads. http://www.scroogle.org/gifs/goognyt.gif

Steam from my ears! I watched some vids of MW2, with all those distracting flashing icons and sentences in screen it looked like a Unreal Tournament game, only with other models and skins. I loved UT by the way, especially UT99. It's the only fastpaced FPS that I really enjoyed. The sweet memories..:o

Hah, Soldner, looked good on paper, but the game was really bad. Even though, I played it MP, it was a little bit of fun for a while. That game was really really buggy, but what do you expect from Jowood? ;)

Staying away? Isn't it so that this kind of business will harm the industry on the long term? It's getting pretty persasive, especially when gaming started to be cool and more suits came with their marketing stories, just staying silent while others are screaming will not cut it. I for one doesn't like the way the industry is heading, it is already pretty similar to the music industry. Nothing wrong with average music and games, it's just that publishers seem to run things and decide what's best instead of the producers, like big men in a record company deciding what a musician can and can't say. Welcome to this forum. Yes, I wasn't interested in ArmA2 myself, after the ArmA1 disappointment. After some while I just bought it even though I knew it was gonna be buggy. Mostly because it's really the only game there is of it's caliber, and maybe I was a bit cynical, but I knew CM wouldn't make a true followup to OFP. Afterall it's still a niche game, so I am still supporting BIS after all these years, even for the bugs. But then again, they are not a big company.

I won't bother with it anyway, I didn't like COD1 and MOH either. I am just interested in this all from the industry perspective, it will influence other games indirectly. But I must admit, all this stuff made me dug up some memories of classics. It's time I dust off my copy of Hidden and Dangerous and Raven Shield, it's quite depressing that I have to play old games as there are no true followups. I am a bit jealous of the people that stood in a long line to get MW2, I wish there was a game that I'll do that too. :(

The game is not doing to well with the user scores. A 1.3 on metacritic, 1.5 on IGN and one and a halve star on Amazon. I don't think Amazon will delete that now like they did prerelease. Even the xbox360 version has a 5.5 userscore on metacritic. That's quite a contrast compared to the glowing official reviews, but that is nothing new.

I just look up the user comments and reviews, and when I am in the mood I compare it with reviews. It seems that reviewers grow into somekind of propaganda pawns, and it is getting worse. I wonder when the critical mass will be reached and most people distrust review sites, especially the large ones. I guess than will come the rise of the 'honest' user comments instead of relying on the usefull fanboys that only see it in the positive light. If that isn't already happening. What about the latest scandal, a german review site is permitted to review Assassin's Creed 2 but only if they give it a really good score. http://www.destructoid.com/ubisoft-demands-high-assassin-s-creed-2-review-score--154456.phtml And look at the topic views! :D For that reason alone, it will be a shame to let it die. Besides, you can learn from history. ;) When is the release of the Sea Tour DLC? The only saving grace is the excellent main music theme.

More can succeed if they take that good quote in your signature at heart. :)

Love your stuff, it's quite inspirational. It seems that you like to draw dark things too. ;)

I think everyone has moral barriers to some degree, it only differs per country and individual. There are people that accept any views the media feeds them without questioning, and those that question it. There are people that are such blinded by hate and others that try to understand, it seems that there is a trend that hate will solve the worlds problem, but it is understanding and respect that really matters. Yet, honour is difficult to find these days, there aren't enough raw models instead of the western plastic popstars and politicians with a hidden agenda. But still, things aren't as black and white as they seem to be, or west and east for that matter. Alas, there is no denying that it's quite a black and white world, and that's one reason of the breeding of conflicts and disrepect. Religions are already used in politics even in the ancient ages. While they have a lot in common, they are often maimed for gaining power. Personally, I don't believe that war is the solution to the problems. Afterall we live in a universe of possibilities and we know just a drip in a ocean. The problem arises when people like the way how things are now, and want to stay as it is in their seats of power. Tapping into the fears of the masses and using it, distorting truth and replacing it with confusion, letting people fight other people while reaping the profits. If I look it this way, understanding still is the key, but that's my opinion. Just like that the war started millenia ago, and never stopped, even if it's not at the surface. The world is really how we make and perceive it. About the fight communism propaganda, I found a interesting documentary about it a while ago. http://brasschecktv.com/page/44.html

The similarities are startling, I think it's time someone tells CM that PR means Public Relations and not Public Rapings, the last mentioned don't do the company rep much good. You're right, they are already gathering to assemble siege equipment. http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=394468

They added freeroam? That's it, I am gonna buy this game and roam around, I can't wait for the MP tourist guide version. Now, if they only add some camera's it really makes a Operation Flashpoint game, especially in the night map. Hmmm..On the other hand, the DR forum tours I am doing are much more interesting, it has fully modelled wildlife. :o Conmasters sure are genius at play.

And there I was, thinking that you were yoking. I had to see it for myself, I'm starting to get interested in the developments around MW2. Just like with Dragon Rising. :D That killstreak thing is the worst design I've seen in years, you now get presents to kill even better till you get the WIN button. I for one, was already happy with a narrator saying "Godlike!" in UT99. They should've added a better headset that supports highdef screaming.

I made this self-portrait a while ago, it's quite similar but I made it somewhat more pretty to gain some selfesteem.

I almost feel sorry for those that payed good money for it. Yes, almost, I've become pretty critical with buying games, and maybe this is a lesson for some that blindly buys games and hope for the best. But I must admit, I am getting quite riled up with the new version and credits fixes. If they change the ingame fonts, I am all ears.

Why didn't they go with mcDonalds? Much easier to make up a mission about that, and it has more associations with the mcGames industry. Though it's pretty easy to use the term Intel in a mission briefing, I already seen that a lot. ;) Yeah that's a cartoon that really shows what is happening, I forgot about that one. VGcats has another one that's quite funny, but still, it's sad that the industry has come to this. I wouldn't be suprised if it's already posted in this thread but I'll link it anyway, it really hits the nail. :D http://videogame2play.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/080722.jpg

Well, at least Operation Flashpoint and ArmA has gotten more attention.. And it shows how gratefull I have to be that companies like BIS exist, things go wrong if a company tries to cater to many markets at the same time. While scaving the budget to get a good profit demographic. In the old days games were made by nerds for nerds, but when the masses got wind of it, it all went in a downward spiral. A bit like the internet, when it became really popular, more and more ads and other junk popped up. You really have to dig to find the good stuff, and ignore the screaming of the marketing people that want to attract your attention instead of letting the products speak for themselves. I guess I am a fanboy for games that are made for the gaming, and not totally for the profits. :D But don't get me wrong, I don't feel better than the masses, it's just that some people see something exploitable where large masses gather, it gets the attention of a lot of greedy people that have only themselves in mind.

Sounds a bit like permission to do a testdrive, only after you bought the car.

Try paintball, I just picked that up recently and man...two days after it I had trouble walking, because I walked and ran crouched when in the playfield. Pretty good for my legs (landing gear in another hobby) :D Lots of old relatively old farts on this forum, I am almost 29 by the way, I am a young old fart. But it seems that I am pretty old on the BIS forums when I look at my join date.
