Well that didn't work well. I had blufor present as activation and in condition i had isServer and it immediately ended. Seems as no matter what the trigger was, if isServer is in condition then it immediately fires, even when previewing in editor. -

vram is VideoRam i.e. the ram it detects on your videocard. I have the same problem. Both A2 and OA reports: localVRAM=400654272; nonlocalVRAM=400654272; I have 2 x 4890 1GB RAM in x-fire (although it doesn't work in OA) and both catalyst and GPU-Z reports 1024MB. Rest of the specs: Q9550 @ 2.81 GHz and 8GB RAM. Running 1.07.71750 A2 and 1.52.71816 OA. -
Can Helicopters (flying) be targeted by RPGs / OA?

When I was playing the Apache mission and the first CP you come to, I hovered over them to get my AI to see the enemy and I was hit by an RPG I believe. (I don't think AI has any AA guys there.) -

Thanks, but do you think it has an effect? I'm just reaching here as i was wondering if it had an effect. Do the clients themselves think that we have seized the town while still engaged in a firefight? And if so, would they cause the game to end? Once we experienced that the client just got the debriefing screen up while I, being the server, continued... -

Open up notepad, paste the two lines in and save it in your missions folder (my documents, arma2 (other profiles if you're not using the standard user), name of the user, missions) as init.sqf. (Remember to change filetype in notepad from .txt files to all files, otherwise it will add .txt so it's named init.sqf.txt.) I think it's an error that they tell you to put it in the Init_UPSMON.sqf as it doesn't make sense that the file should call itself. -
I haven't tested DAC but I've been using UPSMON the last days. What I like about it is that it's scripts, not addon and they're quite good.

I came across this: http://www.gigenetcloud.com and my first thought was naturally "Oooh, A2-server!". Has anyone tried hosting with cloud servers? I'm curious as to what the performance would be as I suspect it would still be low due to threading and overhead and the fact that they don't do dynamic threading if that's even usable. I have no idea how it works or how much CPU and RAM that would be optimal (as A2 probably can't utilize much anyways), so if anyone has any experience here please speak up.

Yeah i saw that (and even commented on it) but I don't get what you're saying. Even with 120 ai on the i7 you still only get about 5-10 fps and not enough power to run the scripts. And i don't know how arma will respond to a cloud server running e.g. 20 cGHz on two cores as there aren't that many threads and it's not like they have a real 20GHz CPU. Like what would be the optimal freq., corenumber and ram be for a 120 ai mission, what should exThreads be, etc.

Well I wasn't planning on a 24/7, just a monster rig that I can access a couple of hours every week. I was looking at the tutorial I found and you can spec it up to 25 cGHz (whatever that is, combined GHz perhaps?) and up to 64 GB ram but only two cores. They only offer Win2003/2008 server though (and linux ofcourse) but I'm not sure how DS works on that. Anyone know? I'm thinking of just testing to see if I can get monster FPS and no teleporting but my experience is that Arma never utilize monster rigs particularly well.

The thing with OFP et al was that you could feel their hatred for the commies. Here they're just there to do the job and move on which might have been what they were going for. It's not like Takis or Chernos were a threat to the US anyways and I think BIS are a bit too scared to pull religion into the picture (as opposed to east vs west). We need a North Korea/Iran campaign. ;)

I haven't combined the two yet so I won't have to move the Arma2 addons pbos and I doubt you too, unless you're using a lot of arma2 stuff in OA or vica versa.

Great work Proton! However I do believe the problem with a static AI is that the game schedules threads/process time slots/whatever for every AI (or at least AI groups) so the AI has guaranteed timeslots with the processor(s) (QoS so to speak). -
I assume you would have to copy the files from the addons-folder in OA instead of from the A2 folder and IIRC it's marginally over 4GB so maybe you can place all the PBOs in the RAM-disk. I know that the only time I get a drop in framerate is in the cities when I run 10km VD so I guess just placing structures.pbo in the ram-disk would do a lot.

I'm just starting to play around with this so I have a few questions. I tried searching but couldn't find anything, probably because I suck at this and everyone takes this knowledge for granted. ;) 1) I assume the leader isn't automatically created? (Edit: No need to create a unit which is leader) 2) Does the leader need special attributes (like "leader", should he be set to no move, etc) or does the script just pick the highest rank? (Edit: No need to create a unit which is leader) 3) I have a t-72 platoon, but when setting it to move and random, the script seems to move only the personnel in the tank and then kill them in the process so I end up with 3 empty tanks and 12 dead bodies at a random location. Can't I use random with manned vehicles? 4) on dev-heaven in the FAQ, the how to install Q says to add the call compile line in init_upsmon.sqf but I assume they mean init.sqf? -

I think that's what Suma is indirectly saying. They're not keeping it in RAM so it wouldn't matter if they went x64.However I do agree that now that many people have 8-12GB RAM as default that it should be done. -
I have to agree with OP. The campaign consists of mission examples loosely tied together while it should of been the showcase and what the mission-creators strive to achieve. You never really get "into" any of the characters and you only play them for one mission and then you're done more for less so you don't get a relation to any of them. Edit: Oh yeah, and I really miss that "small peg in a big wheel" feeling.

You sure? Considering that you can use it in ice-cold water without the inside of the suit being affected by it. And water has a lot more mass than air and transports temperature better (e.g. put your hand in 80C water or a 250C oven).

In Lebanon we heard about Hezb'allah being found dead in drysuits as they were trying to sneak up to an IDF/DFF position. This was allegedly to avoid Thermal sights (this was in '95/96 I think), any truth to that? (Not the incident but would a drysuit significantly hide your body-heat?)

When I'm trying this, all I get are options of opening and closing cargo doors. I did spend all my SABOT and it automatically switched to HE. When I expended those, I rearmed but still couldn't change. After I spent the 20 HE grenades I was empty so it didn't seem like it reloaded sabot. I tried jumping to all seats but still no-go. Bug? Mission is campaign-mission 6 where you attack the airfield. Edit: NM, when I switched to gunner and had both I could switch in the action menu. If I expended all of one type - I can never replenish it.

I haven't played much yet, but they seem to do this less. At least I haven't seen them do it yet. However I never see them "climb" over fences or stone walls so I assume they just run straight through them but I haven't seen them walk through walls and buildings yet.
