    It's the wood-house right next to the airport control tower or whatever you call it. You can ask for transfer or increase viewdistance (and change terrainlevel and such).

    Wow, BIS announces that Game2 will be called Arma2 and 90% of the board turns into idiots? Game2 was announced a million years ago and BIS stated I don't know how many times, that Arma was just something for us to play with until Game2 is ready. Nowhere does BIS give the impression that Arma2 is Arma in another location + some bugfixes. Infact all they did was announce that "Hey we're still working on Game2. We're gonna call it Arma2. It will be released in 2008." Anyways, I'm not going anywhere near this board for a week when the first delay is announced. I'm sure they have to triple the number of moderators then.

    Lurker, while in-game I watched an enemy chopper swoop down and smash into a building near the POW camp. It looked like he was trying to target the guards but crashed instead and wound up killing the guards and my pow. I'm thinking maybe the same thing is happening while you're away from the game. Next time it happens, look for any signs that a chopper has crashed near the POW camp.. y'now, busted trees or flattened buildings. It just happened again however this time while I was on the server. A KA-50 has passed my base (and shot up my AI vulcan) but it hadn't crashed. However it might have attacked my guards. I guess I just have to shoot the POW after I got the points for him then...

    This might have been mentioned here before, but my POWs keep escaping. I host my own PW protected server with persistant=1 and a couple of friends. We play a few missions and call it a night and leave the server running. Also I usually leave an AI in the base so I can recruit AIs. Several times, the AI in base reports an enemy spotted and then that he killed him. When I come back to base I see that one of the POWs are missing. Other times I find them prone on the other side of the wall. Sometimes I can re-capture them but usually I have to kill them. Also, one time when I came back into the server (the server had been abandoned during the night) the POW guards had been killed and no POWs in camp. Anyone else experiencing this?

    I had the same problem but after the cobra wreckage was left in the water for about 30 mins or so, it appeared on the helipad.

    When we did combat drills (extraction) with live ammo, all of us removed the magazine while running. Ofcourse then only point laid coverfire so you had good time meaning that once you were in the rear you had good time to insert the mag. And we didn't sprint like idiots because the risk/reward ratio isn't worth it. IMO you should be able to run and reload but the reload should take longer than normal. Also, during insertion of the magazine, your running speed shold be reduced. However since BIS don't have the animations for it, it won't happen.

    @KillJoy: Zombie already asked, but I see no answer - what is the phone in the ammo crates for? Did you have a plan for this and dropped it or is it some magical device none of us except you know what does?

    Indeed. Whenever IAF have Apache sorties over hostile territory like South-Lebanon or Gaza they constantly spew out flares. Somewhere around 1 per second. Meaning they have more than 16.

  14. I'm hosting a private server and only running Evolution. We're just friends playing there and the problem is when everyone leaves, the server/mission restarts so you lose all progress. Is there a way to avoid this? Problem is when you're alone on the server you can't really play cause all of a sudden you CTD and then it's back to square one.

    If you (or someone on your team) enters an enemy vehicle, the ownership changes so if you (or someone on your team) destroys that vehicle, you get minus points. I agree with OP btw.

    Tips for firing the M136 AT-4 in ArmA

    I always have to "cover" the target with my at4 sight meaning I put the pin on the target (between mainbody and turret) then raise the sight so the main bottom iron part covers my target and I got no way to see the target, but it hits. Am I the only one strugling with this?

    Why shot sounds doesnt have reverb?

    Gotta agree with what is being said here. Normal mics on the videocamera are nowhere near good enough to capture the full dynamics of the sounds if that's the correct word to use for it. Go to a shooting range and record the shooting while you remove any earmuffs or whatever they're called. Hell bring an expensive mic too. Also reverb (which I assume means echo?) would be a nightmare to implement with all the different materials in the game. Like the echo when you're firing inside a wooden house, a concrete house, in a city, between a forrest and a city and so on. I do however welcome any improvement that can be offered.

    Great work but I really hate it when music replaces the original sound. The original sounds really gives trailers an edge to it, atleast the explosions. The aircraft, gunfire and explosions should be in there. Without it, it's just a music video. Edit: The footage is really awesome though.

    Multicast is used for IPTV. It cannot be used for games etc as multicast doesn't use IPs but multicast groups and thus cannot carry across ISPs. Furthermore most ISP doesn't allow subscribers to launch their own multicast streams. When it comes to distributed CPU usage, it will be more difficult to code than multicore-support. In a game so latency sensitive as an FPS, I can to some extent buy the idea for a serverpark handling the load if it's in the same location but not for clients all over the world. Also with the client CPU idea you open up a barndoor for cheaters if you allow them to control AIs.
  22. When me and a friend plays Coop, it is often hard to see how much you miss with the M136 so we usually have a spotter to see where it lands. The problem is that when I look at him firing, I see the smoke that the rocket emits while flying thru the air, but I don't see the rocket and there's never an explosion where he hits. I see if the tank explodes ofcourse, but that's it. We've tested this both on DS and when I host. Also, am I the only one who has to aim way high at anything >100m away? I have to align left right, then move the sight so high that I don't even see the tank. It was the same thing in OFP (on different machines).
