Trouble with Mission "find Lobotev and Bardak"
rekrul replied to MerlinCH's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
He's next to the biggest radio tower (black mast). Be sure to get your men out of the humvee if you drove down there. He wouldn't talk to me when they were still in the car. Has anyone found Lopotev? Also, where the h... is the uav console? Edit: NM, its where you start, and use action on soldier standing next to the antenna. -
Arma 2 dedicated server for freebsd/linux/etc.
rekrul replied to _watcher's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
I want a Linux server as well to run on my box, but unfortunately I guess we have to wait 3-6 months for it. Also, it won't be particularly tweaked for Linux either unless they something really weird happens... -
What does ARMA 2 have that Operation Flashpoint 2 doesn't?
rekrul replied to bloodbomb's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Surely all the development was made by BIS, but the numbers they achieved can partly be attributed to CM's sales machine. And without all those numbers there wouldn't have been economical feasible to patch it up. Let's not forget that it required a ton of patches to reach awesomeness. Also without the numbers, there wouldn't be so many skilled modders keeping it alive either. Even though you have a great product, there are other mechanics necessary to get the investment returned. That being said, I wouldn't say that it's thanks to CM that OFP was great but they played a small but important role. Personally I think the current solution with a myriad of different distributors and different launch times are stupid and confusing, not to mention the period it was released in. I think that if CM or another publisher like them, where behind Arma - they would easily achieve better (sales) numbers but that is obviously speculation. -
One thing you have to consider is that consoles only support 720/1080 resolution, so if they limit it to 720p, the gfx load is far less than e.g. 1920x1600. However since Arma is a CPU hog, they have to optimize their hyperthreading by far. The fact that they say that dual core with high frequency is better than quad with low frequency is pretty much proof that the hyperthreading (in Arma2) isn't that great.

505 Version: Release Date & Other topics - EU/Aus/NZ/SA/ME/Israel etc.
rekrul replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Link in OP doesn't work anymore. The sticky version is useless with 37 pages of user posts. arma2.com doesn't mention this anywhere. Seriously guys, I shouldn't have to trawl through the forums to find this info. Where can I buy the downloadable english/european version? -

That's if it pass through customs fast enough. :) -
Clive was the lead AI designer and it's impossible to say whether he did a good job or not at this point. The only thing we've seen is that they fire non-lethal headshots and take cover. The alleged change in making OFPDR into a COD4+ game certainly can't be pinned on Clive since a) he has nothing to do with those desicions and b) he left when the changes was done (or so it seems).Just because they work for CM doesn't mean they're crap, in fact the game looks quite good. It's just the "strategy" or demographic if you prefer, that is whack.

And the swineflu!!

Make a weedwacker mod?

Or do we have to wait 9-12 months again?

Who is publishing the UK release and will it be on STEAM?
rekrul replied to gimpymoo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Has 505 confirmed that they will offer it electronically on June 19th? Meaning I could DL it from them like you could with ArmA 1? (And yes I have searched) -
ArmA II release date discussion thread

Why isn't this announced in the news-section? -
...and for the love of God, do it properly. With Arma running on a 2.6Ghz dual Xeon CPU and Evolution, it uses 100% CPU when it's empty. Furthermore, I had a 261GB error.txt file. Usually BIS release the Linux Dedicated Server 6-12+ months after launch and when they do, it's still quite horrible. Please try to improve this. 3rd time's the charm!

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.

Another question, have they confirmed a Linux DS version? -
The controversy is that when BI and CM split, BI retained the exclusive rights to make a sequel. Or in layterms, BI is the only entity legally allowed to create a game labeled as "the official sequel to Operation Flashpoint" Essentially, CM is breaking the law every time they say "the sequel to OFP", using the positive press from OFP to boost their [CM's] product, when it is BI's right (legally and morally) to do so. Thats where the fuss is. Well if that's I can see the controversy. However it sounds very strange that CM would agree to that. Considering they own the OFP name, why would they allow BIS to market their game as the OFP sequel? If BIS had any (legal) leverage they would keep the OFP name. Since they didn't I assume they had no leverage to market their product as anything with the OFP name (i.e. OFP sequel). Anyways, I'm sure it's dicussed to death already and there's not much we can do about it. I'm probably gonna buy games and make up my own mind, regardless of what the marketing campaigns are saying. I belive OFP: DR will have a lot less bugs than BIS products tend to have but I doubt they'll be able to recreate the feel/playability. Time will tell. Edit: Also the video discussed above is a pre-rendered movie made some time ago as a concept idea (I believe. Definately pre-rendered at least).

I don't see the controversy. CM owns the name and the franchise and even though you don't have the same developers (which isn't common after 7-8 years) it is a follow-up/sequel/whatever. It's like saying Batman 2 isn't really a sequel since it has a completely different staff, writers, directors and actors...

I have a Linuxserver with 2 x Xeon 2.6Ghz CPUs and it says 100% CPU usage but it's clearly using only one CPU. However, the sad thing is that I have it running Evolution with persistent world on and even now, when there's noone on the server, it uses 100% CPU (and 62% mem). We're usually just two people on there and when attacking a town I get a server FPS of 3-5...

^^ What? With only 5 players, the bandwidth settings shouldn't make too much of a difference.

Operation Flashpoint 2 officially announced
rekrul replied to imported_bör's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Previews are always positive. You'll never find a negative preview. Anyways it shows us what the goal of OFP2 is and that looks nice atleast. However one thing I noticed was that the article says that the MK16 MOD 0 has an effective range of 30m. Isn't that shorter than the MP5/10? I've never heard of the weapon but it seems strange to have a 40mm attached to a rifle with 30m effective range. -
Sorry for not reading the 320 posts in here but can someone update me on all the versions circulating here that is not made by KillJoy? Did KillJoy scrap this project and others branched off his work or what is going on?
-
Ok, I already have Persistent on but haven't tried that. Will test...
-
Thanks Hitman, I'll try that then.
-
My problem is that if I start Evo, I can just drive into the town to capture it - there's no AI anywhere. Is this the same problem as you guys have? Running 1.08 and no, I've not chosen "No AI".

Only spent 10 seconds skimming thru it but it looks to me to be the order that is actually given from commander to the loader/operator/whatever they're called in english, not the radio request. My experience is limited to firing illumi mortars at pre-defined patrol locations. The patrol would then only radio in "Requesting light at B2M" and then give corrections (100 on, 50 left) and such.
