    Can von be disabled locally?

    1. Unplug your mic from your soundcard, or unplug the voice commander 'hockey puck' from your computer. 2. Run the OFP preferences, go to setup voice or whatever it is. Run the voice setup and you will get an error. Your Von transmission has just become disabled. Your RW will now come thru clear to others. The rest of the members of your squad will need to do this to come thru clear. Don't forget to reconnect your mic.

    I looks more to be a represntation of a lava flow from a vent. The vent being the crater, the flow being the odd colored land and burned trees around it. That is a volcanic island you know.

    You where to far away the radio transmitter for the satchel charges has a limited range. Walk back toward the bombs and eventually you will be able to detonate them again.

    You may be experiencing control input lag which seems to be more prone to occuring under win2000/XP. Set your prerender limit to O or as low and it can go, turn off vertical sync and see if that helps any.

  6. Well I finally submitted and installed Win2k during my latest format. And after finally beating 2K into submission 8 hours later I was ready to test OFP. And then the dreaded mouse lag appeared. Acutally its more than just the mouse, its any control movement. I've done the usual of setting the prerender limit to 0 and such but was wondering if anyone has come up with a definite solution(s).

    Bis: three config.bin bugs - very easy to fix

    This is the .cpp file if you are able to edit it. This file comes from either the demo version of the game or the early first version of the game. This is not the .bin file which is encrypted (unless you have decrypted this somehow) the .bin file has many errors fixed as showing in Satchel's sound pack because he uses the .cpp Laws and missiles fly to short because the thrust times are different between the two files The .cpp does not represent what is in the .bin file.

    You know they are called "UNOFFICIAL" addons for a reason. Remove all your addons that are unofficial, then run the game and see if its fixed. If that doesn't even do it reinstall the game. If it does fix it, start addons the addons back in groups of 5 or so until the problem returns, remove 4 of the 5 addons you just last installed and see if the problem is there, if it is then the remaining addon is causing the problem. If it doesn't add one of the 4 addons you just removed back and run the game. If the problem returns then the bad addon is one you just put back, if it doesn't test the remaing 3 addons until the problem returns, once it does you have your problematic addon. And In my opinion the best piston engine aircraft ever produced (Spitfire). And of even more importance the Merlin engine which went in them, and the P-51s. Sure the U.S. manufactured alot of them, but they where british designed. 4) The list goes on and on. And oh BTW Nazi Germany quality turned into crap as their manufactoring base was destroyed (Air superiority) and they had to result to manufactoring inferior steel and equipment. Also a tank is a bit useless if you don't have fuel to run it.

    If I have time I'll make a a screen .mpg demonstration of these cheats in use by me on the FragHaus server (I'll quickly demonstration my M16 firing heat rounds with a scope on it away from everyone else then leave.) I have notified BIS twice about this, from their responces I take it they do not feel this is quite the issue it is. But its their game and their call...... edit: BTW this has absolutely nothing to do with Memory HEX editing while the game is in play.

Frankly I was rather horrified when I found it and realized how easy it was to do, so I went on GSA under a seperate name and started watching a few people getting surreal kill rates. After a few hours almost all of those I was watching where just really good players, but a few where in the "that ain't right" category. I saw one player with no recoil or dispersion on his M-60, and one guy fire multiple laws without reloading. As I've said I've notified BIS and it is entirely up to them what is to be done or not done about it.

Currently I can reproduce any cheat that involves alteration of a unit (unlimited ammo, tracking LAWs, no recoil rifles with no dispersion, invincible units.) I can make M21s that fire heat rounds, satchel charges that cover the entire island. Its all very sad and its such a wide open door. Subtle cheats could be done this way (putting scopes on M16s, increasing a mags ammo slightly, etc.) And do to the current amount of addons and how they work none of this would be detected until in use in game, and the subtle ones probably never detected. I've informed BIS of course how all this is impossible (without the use of an external app) and although I have recieved a somewhat lackluster responce to the issue, they are aware and what is to be done about it is in their hands.
  18. Shaatan I think I've found that I ONLY get this problem with the rain sound in the SP mission Revenge. Odd? Although I have ran across something else. Â After playing thru the campaign again for a while with the Sound Pack installed and noticing my AIs now where crap shots with the LAW (Odd they have always been snipers with those things before?). I ran a little test on desert island with me playing a LAW soilder and a few barrels apprx. 200 meters out. First with the Sound Pack in aiming straight (center of the sight) at the barrels. Of course it missed but I ran to the center of the explosion and marked it against the hillside to the west. Then I uninstalled the Sound Pack completely and reran the test (I saved the mission in the editor) and fired at the barrels again at the same spot center of sight. Ran to the explosion and marked it again to the west. After rerunning this several times over it was apparent that the LAW with the Sound Pack installed was landing 30-50m short compared to the soundpack uninstalled. Now since the config.bin file is unreadable in any editor I have I do not know if it is editable, but I do remember if I'm not mistaken that someone said to edit the config file you would have to use the one from the demo or earlier version correct? Which was a config.cpp correct? Â It appeared that the LAW with the soundpack installed had a shorter time of thrust (i.e. how long till the rocket exhausted its fuel) and began dropping earlier that without the soundpack installed.

  20. Crap. I knew I would find something. On my system with EAX off and HA on or off the rain sound gets alittle loud, especially when there are not any other sounds for OFP's sound scaling to pick up on. Kinda goes like this, hey the rain sound is better than the original......... k either its raining harder or my sound is going wacky...........what are we in a hurricane?............... OMG my ears my ears the rain!!!! P.S. It got so bad in the Mission revenge I was firing off random rounds just to get the sound to tone down a little for a bit.

The sounds of various bits of equipment clinking off each other when you walk and run, duck and crawl are great, if not downright awesome. This is why alot of veteran units, especially ones that are employed in tasks where you don't want to be seen, tape over metal pieces of gear (i.e. harnesses, clips, braces,etc. etc.) nothing like sneaking around on recon going clink... clink... clink.... clink... clink...

I will go in again and try this with no battle sounds around me and see if this is more audible.<span id='postcolor'> Well the use of the word distinct was a very poor choice. There are two clicks and a third longer sound a mix between a click and a slide I guess. From what I've used in rifles these would go along with releasing the old magazine, inserting the new on, and then cocking the rifle to chamber the first round to fire. The sounds aren't distinct for individual rifles, they aren't really distinct to any rifle I would say but they are better than the original OFP clink clink when reloading.

    BIS' Recommendation for SoundCard

    Viper I use a SB PCI 512, the lowest SB card made with that MUX chip and supports surround sound. Run HA all the time, EAX is another story (Thus no surround sound )don't think that has worked right for anyone. 512s are like $40 too if I remember. Live cards are too expensive and the drivers just too buggy and CL never gets around to updating drivers worth squat.

I use a SB PCI 512 with drivers made who knows when cause CL is crap on making new drivers. Both the AK and M16 are very close to what I've heard in real life, although I find the AK,M60, and PK to have alot/excessive echo after a shot (guessing sound clip was in a firing range with alot of flat walls or hills around) but it ain't too bad. Handgrenades are pretty loud to me with more of a bang than the original. And now when I'm crawling I hear alot of equipment scrape and rustling, alot more than the original (good thing). And when I reload I hear a distinct removal of old magazine, insertion of new magazine and cocking of the breech. However I 'think' its working so well for me is because I can use Hardware accel without a problem and I don't even have to turn it off and then on after loading the program like the readme suggests. The HA may be the fatal flaw with this for most people.
  25. Bravo! This is great, no more of the weak M60/AK popgun sound. I spent 30mins just playing around to find the new sounds. New autocannon sounds for the Helos are great, same for the shilka. Hot engagements are great, all those GMPs opening up and the new ricochetes landing around really bring a new mood to the game.
