    Arma 3 first impressions

    I love the new movement setup and weaponhandling, as previously mentioned the sounds need some tweaking for distance. I will need a new GPU as my 8800GT is getting older than Keith Richards.

  3. How can that be? There are 1-2 pixel wide crosshairs on all other optics.

  5. Damn! I was just sitting infront of my computer thinking of this! Yesterday I set up an ambush with claymores (clacker) and was going to open up on them after the first was set of....it took me 5 seconds to hit AUTO and I accidentally threw smoke on them while buttonmashing my way to a "hot" weapon. It is really not intuitive to use "F" for everything, if I where in a real ambush I don't think that I would accidentally throw stuff instead of shooting. Edit: Can't grenades and other equipment be put in the mousewheel sidemenu?
  6. Thanks guys! Does anyone know if the wind gauge arrow can be switched on at all times? If not...can the ACE's make it a on-off switch instead of a timed button. Or is it to simulate the sniper doing the "lick finger" gauge? :D
  7. I'm all for it, I ordered from germany the minute it was released and when I found out it would take 5-7 days to get it here I ordered the DL version...also german. We should not be punished for trying to play a game as early as possible and the language mod is not working properly when used in conjunction with mods such as ACE. Free the beast!

  12. Don't get me wrong....but I love looking at the rifle models. But why is the front post sights on most of the weapons crayon-sized and the rear peep so anemic polygonwise?

    Holo gunsight...utter pap?

    The parallax issue on the holosights and NVG that goes black when zoomed in are really annoying ingame, infact they are bordering on being gamebreakers when you feel you have to resort to scoped weapons just not to be fooled by the poor sights.

  15. My range calculations are not as reliable as I want them....what length are the men/soldiers generally in ArmA? I enter them as 1.83m. (1.83 x 1000 / Mills) Btw. Bipod/prone "sway" should be lower in ArmA...range estimation is hard as hell sometimes.
  16. I just posted this in the Addon request thread but I thought I would post it here too as this is my favourite mod. Would it be possible to make an addon for sniper rifles to adjust parallax? Like the GMJ adjustable scope mod but adding the third adjustment turret to get a "ballpark reading" on what distance your target is....blurry crosshair means you have to adjust the "range/parallax" on your scope to get focused thus getting a range on your target. (The mod could be restricted to showing range in increments of 50/100 yards) I seem to recall that no US military scope has the range markings since they are seldom 100% accurate but since the real world is blessed with depth-perception and computergames are not...I would call it a somewhat fair trade.

    Arma Joystick.

    I just started working at a hobby store in Sweden and got a free RC simulator + usb controller for training purposes. It works awesomely in ArmA2 for flight and on landings and can be put aside very quickly, the only minus is that there are no buttons on it so I'm kinda stuck on pure troop transport as firing any weaponry is not possible.

I second that Helmut, the blur effect that I don't like is that the time to focus after stopping is way to long...the running blur is a good way to stop the running eagle-eye in all of us and force players to use caution while moving about the terrain. I find myself moving in alot shorter and planned sprints since A1.
  21. Several rifle calibers are very capable of punching through trees.
  22. I just threw Razor and a fireteam of Marines on a simple search and destroy against ragtag militia with all teams on stealth....It was the most tense moment I've had in any BIS game. The last opfor was a real bitch to nail as he ambushed two Marines and was taking snapshots on my location, he ended up chasing me away. I had to take cover inside someones house. Hiding like a coward inside for 5 minutes while discussing the game with a friend the brigand had the audacity to sneak after me and peak out from the house across the yard...I just got really lucky and nailed him first. During this 15 minute engagement I only saw one "tard" who was standing in the clear 100m from me and aiming my direction....but ranting about the one crappy soldier to the impressive display I saw from the 20 others is moronic. I for one can see a real difference and is getting really giddy about A2's future. Last but not least...the first person camera is next to none and !! I really love it, but I would not mind a slight reduction in the motionblur or the time it takes to focus.
  23. Did my first (quick) warfare with the new AI and was not "silly-sniped" once and had plenty of random incoming fire, infact...the most confused warrior in the field was me. Not scientific testing by any means but from what I saw there was alot of covering/suppressing-like fire from the mg's and AI was rolling in on all flanks. Not at all like the frustrating time I had in A1's warfare. The AI is not the same as the old one. All in all...I can not see how BIS could muck this up. It can only get better from this end and I love it.
  24. I don't remember that my shipment from Bol.de took that much time when ArmA 1 was released.....but it's been a while so don't quote me on that. ...scheiße. What is the best DL alternative...I don't need lots of crap about limited activations and stuff?
