Why would tracers activate after velocity drop and/or impact? Why not make them behave as they do in real life? "Blobs" look fine in real life because your eyes do not have a hertz/fps limit like your monitor does. On 60hz blobs will "skip" across your screen.....remember we are talking of exit velocities in the area of 8-900m/s. My hope is that BIS makes the tracers correspond to your ingame eyes (like the HDR) meaning during night the tracers will elongate because of your eyes trying to take on more light thus giving the tracer a "laser" look, and during the day they should be pretty short and harder to see.

Pretty much what I was about to post, I hope that BIS takes this to heart as they did with the bullet cracks....it's a very important part of the firefight immersion.

I love the way that INF employs dot/reflex optics, the dot is "projected", not "painted" on the lens.

Lets just put it like this, for snipers breath control is essential...right? Now, if only snipers could do it in the game would that be realistic? No, that would be stupid. Why not let everyone try their own style? Shooting at top/bottom of breath or hold is up to the shooter as it stands now....perfect. I only hope that it will be much tougher to hit target at med/long ranges, and especially moving ones. Btw, IRL I hold my breath. Ps: Anyone know if ArmA will have 25/300m zero? (Aim low between those ranges) It would add alot IMO....dont VBS1 have this?

I´m so getting the next gen 3dVisor! 1024 or 1280 would suffice to get over the 800X600 problem with new games.
-
Nice! I´ll be looking foward to it.

Man, doing a Dynamic A-stan mission with the SAS would rock!!..too bad i dont know shit about mission editing :P Keep up the nice work.

Introscene in Kelly´s Heroes comes to mind and he was in a Willy´s Jeep.

Never got a headache with mine, i think it comes down to how good your monitor is. I ran mine at 1600X1200@100hz (22inch) and it was amazing, but in OPF the 2d flat sights killed the immersion alot....best effect i had was during flying and Source games. With the right settings a crosshar will look like a holo-sight, but since the game now has depth it is pretty easy to shoot without them.....gotta try with my LCD.

Well Mr.Sunshine, dont care? DONT POST!! Like TIR it is part of evolution and immersion. It is just a suggestion since alot of time has been put towards TIR, this change would not mean total overhaul and would probably mean more players trying them out. You might like your 2d, but i prefer 3d if it is available.

Just remembered something about the sights. If the sights are 3d...this wont be a problem, but if they are texture+shader it would be great if the "post" and "peep" are on different layers and distance so people that have any sort of 3d glasses wont have to stare at a "billboard" sight. The sights in OPF are the only things destroying a really nice 3d experience....and i want AA to work in 3d so i can buy 3dVisor.

I know this will not be popular....but isn´t an online distribution service possible until it is viable economicly to distribute via stores themselves. Gives me a reason to buy it twice
-
Instant stop looks like shit, the "slowdown" gives the animator a slowdown animation to make all movement look real. Clunky movement is not an issue when "slow-walking", collision detection is......i hope the instant stop is just WIP related, OPF make me have to be aware of my movement and any dope can learn to control his movement ingame.

They could share some copies to the best/trusted photo and cutscene makers so they could spread some nice clips and media for the game communities. All material would either require approval from BIS and/or carry a stamp stating it´s current state (ArmA 75%) Cheap, and it would spread to the customer-base in notime. What ArmA need now is some really artistic and compelling trailers to lure peoples interest. I have been fooled by "screenshots" way to often to base anything on them. But keep the "no retouch" approach, people hate being fooled.

All widescreen users would be happy about 3d sights, having to aim through oval scopes is really wierd. And i hope that if there are some sights that remain 2d (scopes) they will be fov adjusted in the same manner as 3d elements. And i think that 16:9/10 will be more and more mainstream as crt´s takes their farewell so this is a serious issue.

The only thing is that Dod:s does this VERY overstated. I sometimes round a corner expecting that MG noise to be 1k away....only to be riddled by it from 25m. But the way they did it is very simple, One channel=ownsound, second channel=distant sound. Makes it easy to mix depending on distance and soundwave simulation is already in OPF so delay is not a problem.

I´m hoping for 3d sights so i can use my 3dglasses, that and i´ve gotten used to them over the years and find 2d ones less immersive. Imho it feels like having a cardboard cutout on my face.....best of both world would be some sort of shader on a 3d model or 3d rifle with 2d rearsight. But if i have my glasses on i focus on the postsight and target anyway and all else blurs out....might get myself one of these to try out. http://www.3dvisor.com/

I´d love to see bigger differences in the AI. Militia/armed civilian: Fires fullauto from hip most of the time and loves to run away when bullets starts to land near them. Army: More dicipline on both fire/stance/tactics but does turn back when faced with a high volume of firepower. Depend on armor and air for most operations. SF: Same as above but more stealth/hide/snipe. superior tactics when assaulting, can call in arty/air faster then ARMY. Fanatic: A blend of militia/Army but with much less fear for death, mix with some SF type AI in a group...and you have a problem on your hands

And i wrote it backwards, first crack...then muzzlereport. Right now in OPF it feels like someone is shooting at me with a Brown Bess musket, it should sound much more aggressive and is a very big part of battlefield sounds. Edit: I actually like the beep, if its used irl then it should be used ingame.....dont like it, mod it....God i love OPF!!

IBB Do you want to get banned that bad?

What Army Willy?

Heatseeker, it´s a press demo....i dont think they want to put the critics on some 4h holdup up in the mountains, waiting for the sun to go down for them to make a safer assault. All the full realism stuff in OPF was created by the community, i dont see why BIS would meddle with this. It´s meant to be entertaining for players, simfolk will shape it for themselves. BIS has had all this time to see what was wrong/hard to do in OPF since it´s release, i´m sure that 90% of all complaints will be or have been fixed and the rest are preferences that you will have to fix yourselves. Hence the improved engine. For OPF to thrive, even newcomers must be able to have a good time. For the rest of us, the mods will satisfy all our lust for no compromise realism

OPF 1.5 I think not! Game 2 is more like it. Thanks BIS, this just keeps getting better and better Now if i only knew when to place my vacation weeks
-
I´d pay for just a standard Flashpoint 1.5, full price...and then some. I have just been more and more excited as ArmA has progressed as the news has just been getting better and better amd the game has become a true game in its own right. People payed alot more for the upgrade from OPF and VBS1 and where still happy, why? Beacause it is even with all the small crap aside, THE best/complete gamepackage ever!! If someone told me that ArmA would cost 299$ i would still buy it, fanboy? not really, but i can see all the good stuff behind the little stuff that seems to be "showstoppers" for some. And it has outlived 4 gfx cards by now

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5415556716521120033&q=fire+fight Notice the dull muzzle report of the enemy and the quick followup of sonic crack of the bullet. Also notice how you can hear your own bullets going downrange. If this could be achived in the game it would certainly help player survivabiliy, that lone sniper would be noticed right away...no more "3...is down" to know what happened. It makes for good immersion and tactical awareness, so it´s good all around.
