  1. Wolverines? Pche ehh. Wasnt never impressed by the Red dawn film, to much propaganda in it.

I think that NAPA was one of the major actor of the upraising war. Problems with the russian minority, was maybe caused because by them? ChDKZ find that the governament is unable to protect rusian minority, so they wanted to join russia?

    Welcome to hell:

Well Czech language is a central europe language, not east wink_o.gif

Well i guess you chose your side. LOL! WE HAVE ENEMIES WOLVERINES! Traitors to chenarus helping the russian takeover.

Besides that, your just guessing right now.

  2. For conservative values? Most retarded quote ever.

    Who think of it?

Something like "For the fatherland and the people" it would be better.

Any problem with the video? It doesnt load.

Dude they are nationalist conservatives. They are fighting for the sovereignty and freedom of Chenarus.

    They are ****DRUM ROLE****

    WOLVERINES!!!! (of chenarus)

  3. I kinda like this idea actually... some moral dilemas for soldiers to find themselves in.

Like using human shields and such? Pistol-whipping people and turning their pockets inside out?

I think this game is meant to be a military simulator in its own tradition. Not a "Mafia" or "Grand Theft Auto" clone. The action in Operation Flashpoint focused on operational / tactical level military action, not on individual characters like in the vast majority of shooters.

This stuff happens all the time gustav, american forces must force people off their property all the time. It's just a part of war, why not have it if it's do-able?

  4. I also think the arma AI is horrible. It simply cant do what you ask it to. Tell it to follow a road, cant follow the road. Ok, tell it to stay in a convoy, cant stay in a convoy. Tell them to get in a building, ok that seemed to work, now ask them to return to formation, wait, not responding. I guess it's not that the ai is "bad", it's that it is so unreliable. I simply cannot make a reliable coop, even with scripting.

  5. what they ultimately need to do right now is make it so zooming in, or using a scope, renders the grass further to hold the "blend effect". As of now, arma's grass does not dynamicaly change to zooming in or using a scope, giving that god awful upclose ugly texture look. It shouldn't be to much of a problem as it's not like increasing the grass dramaticaly.

  6. I ment disarmed people. Anyway, it's not just movie-ish, it's very functional, as you can force someone off their property if you need to use it, or any other simialer task. Then the obvious blowback would be the unsettled untrustful citizens, and then after a while NAPA becomes too angry and starts to attack you. That forces people to watch out for how many times they use it. Use it consistently, and watch out, here's napa! help.gifpistols.gifyay.gif

  7. You still don't get it, do you?

You question is weird, as everyone WOULD be saying YES. Even the ones saying Quality over Quantity wouldn't mind the option being there since arma is all about user created missions, where you can target a certain number of players.

    Also:

It is not only about the server performance, data transfer, but also about the network optimizations, CPU usage etc.

    Plus:

    1. Arma is in theory infinite in the number of players you could set up.

    2. Most servers out there are either public ones payed by big providers, or any type of group related to ArmA in any way: teams, clans, tournaments etc. So there is not only 1 "official" server out the game style doesn't fit it.

    3. ArmA2 will be (hopefully) a better optimized Arma1. By that i don't expect a huge number of changes even in how the network traffic is handled etc.

    4. ArmA 1 max number of player have been 123. The server was stable, not laggy for about 3h, but right on its verge. Will Arma2 be more stable: i hope so. Would it handle 150 players? i hope so. will it handle twice as more as Arma1? there is no way....

So, then, since for ArmA2 is impossible *because for ArmA1 is, even if the server could easily take a lot more beating, but it is the game that crashes, and not the server*, why then this question? (i am not saying that from a game developed from the start with this goal in mind wouldn't be possible, but that would not be arma)

You still don't get it, do you?

This is not a technical discasion tread

    it writen in the title

    DO YOU WANT 256 PLAYERS?huh.gif

    YES OR NO

what is that you dont understand?

    just vote with honesty

    thanks

Some people here are making me lol, i'll vote! Your vote simply tells BIS that you want more people. They are not psychics, they are socialy limited basement programmers.

  8. The russian federation is a federal republic. A loose one though. So you literaly cannot compare the two at ALL!!! The Soviet Union was not just Russia, it included many differen't countries for it's concepts of international socialism, which is why the nazi's (national socialists) hated them. lol getting politicaly carried away here.

  9. Man using the OFP music just keeps bringing back memories...  inlove.gif Damnit BI lol!
edit: wtf is up with those sounds? explosion, tunguska cannon sound, pkm...  banghead.gif

    I agree with this 1100%.

    you guys taste are weird

really, that remade OFP theme aint that good at all(which never reminds me about the good old OFP, instead it brings back a shit load of miserable memories of ARMA, bugs, whining and bashing; oh and the remade OFP theme itself as well) confused_o.gif

how hard can it be to use back the original theme in OFP? crazy_o.gif

At this point unless they make ArmaII like a copy of OFP it's not likely it's going to remind you alot about OFP (lets face it OFP is its own entity), in a way the ArmaII OPF remix is fitting, considering the events that took place as it played in OFP.

Russian forces invading a peaceful civiliazation, killing civilians who oppose them although in the first few seconds it looked like they just gunned down some for simply seeing them.  They then took control of the island so it's only natural that it would have a darker and colder, more "desperate" tone to it.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5WQqcfkNq4 (theme)

And while I would love to hear it again in a crisp fresh manner it wouldn't fit Arma II, the newer theme in a way COULD fit if say CDF forces are engaging the Red Star forces.

Two military's battling it out for control and defense rather then a military slaughter civilians (before promptly being slaughtered by the civilian resistence) but I'm curious where the other factions might play into this, I for one would like to see someone other then the USA be the hero for once (yes I'm american before you bash me for that).

NAPA WILL BE THE HERO! FIGHTING FOR SOVERERIGNTY!

  10. the ability to create new waypoint types and ai behaviour functions would be nice. I was working on a script for ai to cover a tank, or use the tank as cover, and it failed due to the ai's incapability to navigate and distractions from urban enviroments.

  11. Performance impact of parallax occlusion mapping (technically more correct: ray casting) is very heavy once the viewing angle is very shallow (the viewing direction aligned with the surface tangent). This is because with shallow angle you need to sample too many samples to find which part of the map are you intersecting. Because of this, parallax occlusion mapping is not a practical solution beyond a certain (quite close) distance.

What if you lower it's resolution? Will it lessen the consumption when it's at the angle? I'm wondering about this because it should lessen the overall samples right?

  12. dirt trails for vehicles work. however, currently soldiers are like some kind of super all-terrain vehicle in this game, there are no penalties (e.g. speed) for walking off a path so ambush missions wouldn't really work as people just sprint in a straight line for 10 minutes to get where they are going.

It can be done though, as vehicles get a speed penalty from going off road, it should be possible with men.
