  1. BIS is amazing. And screw all the people who think it's going to far. It's an 18+ game with tons of violence and death. Hows a little sexual content going to hurt the game? I see it now, set the hookers to enemy, send them running down a street having cops gunning them down.

  2. A more intelligent solution, if anybody has heard the mensa salt shaker joke, is to simply shrink the men a little bit. Visual realism should be more important than unitary measurement. If it's easier to simply shrink the men to obtain a realistic visual scale, why not?

  3. Will the kobra sight have multiple dot options? The upside down v is nice, but they have plain dots and other stuff too, and some people don't like the upside down v. Also they should make sure that the kobra sight red dot isn't too big, as the addon version in regular arma is really huge compared to some photo's i've seen.

  4. Quote[/b] ]Three will be no PhysX support.

Bad thing to hear as most of the newer NVIDIA gfx-card have native support for PhysX and the effects that can be achieved without any CPU-load are quite interesting. Blowing leaves, glass fragments, shockwaves...all that could be incorporated without any stress for CPU.

    Bad news for me.

Some people don't understand internet vs client processing. I don't think the server and clients could handle all the data being sent over them with glass fragments and stuff. This is why they can keep up the amount of players. Don't spoil it with super physics engines, the only thing you'll see is a decreased amount of multiplayer potential.

  5. are there shedows in forest below SU ? icon_rolleyes.gif

Thats way to far away to draw out individual shadows, but it does have a nice darkened texture to hide it. Looks pretty good to me. I think everybody has to remember that the scale was improved in arma2. The world and objects compared to eachother look more realistic and are larger. Like the buildings we saw in the city from that older screenshot showing the building damage.

  6. What you guys are seeing is actualy mid distance that has been zoomed in camera style. That means the textures will look pretty low res. You can tell that the new chopper pick is like this aswell. Try it in arma, zoom into the mid distance and it will look the same. This is what i've been shouting at bis for, the mid distance is way to low quality.

  7. What are you talking about? I was relating the story to administration and arma2 future server control.

You mean comparing apples to oranges?

You know exactly what i'm talking about so don't lead me on to an emotionaly based argument. Feel free to delete our posts admins if they are in the way. If he needs to argue with me he can do it over pm's.

  8. C++ is probably the most common one for games. Of the job adverts for various game companies I've seen all the programmers positions require C++ knowledge.

If programming is what you want to do, C/C++ is a good choice to learn.

Yeah, c++ is what everybody has to use for computation and core structure of the game. It's just so efficient. I heard that graphics though are much easier with c#. Or is that just hype?

  9. Oh, were we?

Then why are you talking about hacking into people's computers again?

That has nothing to do with ArmA 2. Unless, of course, they work in BIS and have an alpha version of it stored on their PCs...

What are you talking about? I was relating the story to administration and arma2 future server control.

  10. No, it's you who clearly has no idea.

First of all if you intended to do no damage it's not called cracking, but hacking.

Second, how can you even compare network administration with ArmA server administration.

A net admin has all sorts of log on his disposal. With ArmA you have one log which 99% of time doesn't contain any relevant data and is paint to work with ("Network message XXXX is pending" spammed a few thousand times).

I thought we were talking about arma2 here... And arma's logs bla bla bla, arma2 is what we are talking about. We need more admin tools for arma2 would have been a better response.

Cracking is for breaking into things, hacking is for changing things. Thats the def i'm used to.

  11. Oh right.

Like if the admins have a forensic degree to figure out which of the 20 players is spawning the bombs all over the place...

Actualy, yes. You clearly have no knowledge of administration. I was caught by an administrator cracking into my fellow students computers. He said he would get me exp'd if I didn't tell him the exploit or weakness I discovered. I agreed to it, as I wasn't trying to do any damage or cheat in the first place. Point is, they know a lot. thumbs-up.gif

  12. And the steam method is just buy the game again to get unbanned. It's not ment to stop hackers but to get more money.

And what do you consider a good method, ban for 6 hours and then let them hack again?

That's one of the strong points of VAC, you get caught and you get banned forever.

Thats not true, you simply buy another game.

  13. IF they use steamworks, would valve perhaps let them use VALVE Anti-Cheat?  Which is really quite good...

VAC is horrible, i don't know what your talking about. It can take weeks to months to catch a "hacker". And the steam method is just buy the game again to get unbanned. It's not ment to stop hackers but to get more money.

  14. I find shakycam distracting from the actual game.

Imagine you're running, and you get shot, just because you couldn't distinquishe a guy far away, because shakycam affected your concentration. (Crysis).

I am all for small shake, but shakycam known from Arma 2 vids is way over-the-top, distracting from the scenery.

So turn it off then, problem solved wink_o.gif

But, what about multiplayer :O It's still optional?

It's optional to join a server lol whistle.gif
