  1. Looks fantastic! The climb fences thingy looked awesome. As did a lot of other small details. The landscape looks soo much more natural sloping than good old Sahrani where we are fighting in 45° sloping terrain. biggrin_o.gif I'm a bit worried about the trees though, I have terrible performance inside Sahrani wooden areas with everything turned down or off sad_o.gif

A couple of questions to the devs, if they have time:

    1. Did I just see a flashbang? Do they have flashbang effects to those affected, and will AI use them automatically?

    2. The actual grenade tossing itself, including the leaning and animation; does the AI do this by themselves or will it have to be a scripted event?

    3. Will they switch to GL grip in the final version when they fire GLs? But to me this is a very minor glitch anyway, concentrate on the really important stuff first.

    4. Although HALO doesn't "look good", it's nice to see it as an internal feature. Hopefully parachutes will be steereable as well? wink_o.gif

    5. I noticed that some parts had weapons cursor turned on while others turned off. When turned off, will there now still be possible to have a visual lock for certain (i.e. Javelin) weapons system? Currently I have made my own addon (based on a true addon) to obtain this effect, but obviously not "accepteable" on certain servers which require keys.

Continue to make this more of a "game" out of the box, but with enough content and difficulty options to make it addon free possible for those public servers. But don't dumb it down. Us "hardcore" folks will require addons anyway to get it enough sim based to suit our needs. We will buy this anyway. But you need to attract fresh blood from CoD or whevever that might become "hardcore simmer" in the future tounge2.gif

I think the cursor, no cursor thing has to do with spectating ai

  2. I think if you're going to buy ArmAII "because it's realistic", you're buying it for a somewhat wrong reason.

ArmA has been mainly bashed for the following reasons :

    - terrible performances

    - clunky animations

    - horrible campaign

    - horrible AI

I think BI has been working on these points (though I'm not too sure about animations, which makes me feel a bit nervous about the title).

They are not marketing ArmAII saying : "it's ArmA, with realism +200%".

What you read is the improvements you'll find in AI department, in details and deepness of the campaign, etc...

If you want to take it into the sim department, then, well...

ArmA is not a tank simulator. There's much better titles doing a much better job for this.

Same for chopper or airplane sims.

    And same for infantry also.

BUT... It's the only one that combines all these aspects in 1 single game at the moment.

But they don't do it to too much detail levels. They offer us a sandbox to go as deep as we want in such or such aspect of the simulation, but they'll take their time on other aspects of thegame, the aspects that have been put down by critics and gamers in ArmA (listed above).

Yes, that leaves the pure sim crowd to do the job themselves. But, like I said, it's probably not their only target for this title.

    Well it's a combat simulator.

  3. What your experiencing is an inability to balance your supply and demand. Yes, your reason to supply is demand, but you are oversupplying (in this case man hours). Tone it back.

Are you telling me not to go to work?

no lol. It seems like your the all or nothing kind of guy lol.

EDIT: I was talking about the situation of the post not you.

  4. Go pick up an economics book, eduacate yourself.

How come every time someone says something like 'learn to spell' or 'educate yourself' they misspell the operative world?  "Lern some english!"  It must be a trait shared by anyone who makes those comments.

By what principle of economics does asking for something create money, time, or man-hours?  Actually, by my experiences in the gaming and entertainment industries, and by the experiences of my colleagues, design by committee and moving targets tends to hurt the final product, not help it.  If it does not hurt the product, it is because the people who are making the product on the ground floor are putting in unpaid 12 hour days and weekends to meet a deadline that should have been possible to make easily, by the estimates of the coordinators.  This is very common.

If your going to nit pick about my spelling, i'm going to devastate you on your economics. What your experiencing is an inability to balance your supply and demand. Yes, your reason to supply is demand, but you are oversupplying (in this case man hours). Tone it back. I said nothing about meeting every players demand, I simply said it drives the market. There is no reason not to demand, BIS will make their own decision as it's not coercion.

  5. Not 100% right, but not false too.

Actually that's the definition of a false statement.  If the majority of people have brown eyes and I say, "All humans have brown eyes" is that statement true or false?  Choose one.

Lets reformulate it: No demands/accepting everything = a lot "less" improvements/innovations than possible.

Oh, I doubt it.  There is a finite amount of resources, all of which will be spent.  What you are asking is to redirect resources.  You are asking for a reprioritization, your demands do not create development resources, they consume them.

    Quote[/b] ]

That and the reason that 97% of the World population simply sits on their fat asses and do nothing, simply "accept" EVERYTHING is the reason we are still were we are as humanity - no very big improvements/innovations besides the technical one since 2000+ years.

But we could be x-times further already.

LOL!  This sounds like a Wachowski brothers movie plot.  Maybe you'll soon find a way to overthrow our fascist oppressors and liberate us, bringing us the world that could have been...

Go pick up an economics book, eduacate yourself.

  6. If people here call demand "whining" they surely don't belong in buisness, and i pray to god they don't get into one. BIS will make their own choice, but without whining we are guaranteed to get less. So why not create a thread that gives us the ability to speak our opinnion on delays or not; it cant possibly make the game any worse.

  7. The only official RPG round that can take out most tanks these days (in one hit) is the RPG-29. That does not mean a couple good hits to the back wouldn't take out a abrams, or maybe some hits to the treads to disable it. To classify a tank as destroyed is a difficult thing to do. Blown to pieces, thats very rare. I would stop this entire argument at once, because it's starting to throw the thread off track.

  8. EDIT: Who was commanding that Challenger that got hit 60 times and what the hell were they doing allowing someone to get 60 hits on it?

lol Jakerod. That was the first thing I wondered myself..

The report didn't give any details. But I'm guessing they were ambushed in a street from RPG squads on surrounding rooftops. (Worst type of ambush to a tank)

He probably sustained it to the strongest points of the tank, so we need that information as well.

  9. BIS's revive system seems a little bit differen't than the one in arma. I'm just hoping that being shot in the head and maybe a 90% chance in the chest kill you. Shot in the legs 5% chance of violent bleeding till death. And have it so if your shot in the legs you cant walk. Then make it so if your shot in the arms you can walk but cannot lift your gun depending on arm shot (assuming your right handed).

  10. Dr.Fresdas here believes it's impossible for 4 or 5 rpg's to not kill an abrams. LOL! I also bet you didn't know that a t-90 is impenetrable by all known infantry AT weapons. RPG's ARE NOT STRONG. They are cheap, quantity over quality, rocket propelled GRENADES.

Exactly Pots. Then why does it happen in a great sim like Arma?

An RPG can penetrate about 200 to 250mm of armour. There is no chance in hell it will penetrate a tank with 1300m vs HEAT.

Oh, you worded that weird. I guess I actualy agree with you on that point then. Although, you might have forgoten that there is a difference between an m1a1 and m1a2, so keep that in mind.

  11. We know BIS dumbed down Arma to appeal more to the mainstream market.

    How?

They did it to improve playability and infantry fun.

On the question of How, try shooting a rifle or machinegun at someone 150m away. The dispersion is enormous, in a modern age where assault rifles can maintain accuracy to 250m and above. Their accurate ballistics don't really seem to match up with anything real.

Try killing a tank like an M1A1 in Arma, it takes like 4 or 5 RPGs to kill it. In the Iraq, an abandon M1A1 stuck in a ditch was hit with 2 Hellfire missiles and a Maverick to destroy it rather than leave it to be claimed by the enemy as a trophy. The US soldiers were surprised to find no external damage to the tank

But in mathematical terms. Armour vs penetration, an M1A1 has about 920mm armour vs kinetic (sabot) rounds and equivalent 1320m armour vs HEAT on the turret. A Hellfire missile's warhead can penetrate about 1200mm of armour. Hence mathematically a hellfire can't penetrate an M1A1. As proven in the real world. Not simulated in Arma. Dumbed down.

A T72's steel based sabot round can penetrate about 650mm of Armour. Hence it won't penetrate an M1s armour as stated above. Also proven in the real world. Arma not being dumbed down of course would have this simulated in the game. Indeed this was simulated in OFP. As actual M1 could survive over 4 sabot rounds from T72, simulated in OFP, not in Arma.. Dumbed down

    Lots of other stuff lacking.

  12. This entire ArmA mainstream crap is BS. ArmA's infantry is the most difficult to control infantry out of any game. This is usualy the first thing people complain about is ArmA's clunkyness. And are some people forgeting that ArmA was released in an unfinished state? They could not afford it, so stop bashing BIS like they purposley made it beta like, they simply didn't have enough money. Now that BIS have the money I'm betting there new game will be killer. OFP2 is all talk, nothing else. Sure, it's amazing talk, but It's still just talk.

  13. Please Please Please! Get that firing out of vehicles into arma2. If you do it, your game will dominate all others. I know you said that it can be implemented and that it would just take some time and you might do it. Well do it please, DO IT! FTW! notworthy.gif
