    FDF Mod

You need to add "fdf_worlds" to addons[] array in the mission.sqm. I think it's caused by the mission being made in an earlier version of FDF that didnd't define addon dependancies correctly or had different class names.

    Head Bob??

"Camera bobbing" in video games is complete bullshit, as well as vision blurring when exhausted. It might surprise you how flawless image stabilization the human brain have if you tried running for once in your life. Also, you do not lose eye sight under physical stress, quite the contrary.

ArmA 3 will be available on Steam?

Oooookay... Usually I just copy-paste my Steam-folder to the new machine and everything works :D

    Counter-Strike: Global Offensive announced

CS (~100k players atm) is actually still probably the most popular MP shooter on PC. Not CODs (~80k). Not Battlefields (~40-50k). (the figures are estimates based on Steam stats and server stats. I might be overlooking some low-budget Asian free-to-play FPS that no one in the western world plays though)

    Stealth Kills?

I didn't say it would be silent or instantaneous kill, nor that it would have a 100% success rate. Also, no trained soldier rests his finger on the trigger. That is retarded and Hollywood. The first reflex would be to try to struggle yourself free from the strangle hold, or try to keep your severed throat together, not to reach for your gun. I never said the target would be deaf. Please don't put words in my mouth or fill in the blanks with bullshit. He could hear you, and spoil your approach. There would have to be some ambient noise to cover your footsteps if the surface is loud, or the target could be dozing off at guard or unaware that you pose a threat etc. God... do I have to explain EVERY LITTLE MINUTE DETAIL TO YOU :D What's wrong with silenced weapons? Nothing, you just don't always get one. If you play as an insurgent for instance.

    Stealth Kills?

You are entitled to your opinion, and straw-man arguments once again, but how else are you going to control a video game without pressing any buttons? Motion control is not there yet. Comparing grabbing animations to automatic shooting, now that is ridiculous. ---------- Post added at 09:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:44 AM ---------- There would be no auto-target. "Targeting" would be you manually maneuvering to the exact spot to perform the animation. And sure, since it's so important to you, why not also manually have to aim at the correct point on the target for the move to succeed.

    Stealth Kills?

Now when did I do that? Pls refer to my post on the previous page where I described a simple system that would be implementable in Arma, yet is way more involved than your straw-man argument.

    Stealth Kills?

NOTHING in Arma is implemented to 100% realism. Why should knives have a different standard?

    Stealth Kills?

Insurgents and such would prefer 1950 technology over 2025 technology due to easy availability and cheap prices. Not to mention that A3 can be any time perioid (real or fictional) with the right addons. Having some basic framework in place for melee combat would help ww2 modders for example.

    Stealth Kills?

Easy. This is neither a or b: 1. Select Knife 2. Set firemode selector to "Grab head & cut throat" 3. Hold shift to creep slowly with left arm up, otherwise movement is normal 4. Aproach target from behind (170-190 degrees), and face the same direction as him 5. When right next to target, hit fire to grab head, after the grab is complete, hit fire the second time to slit throat. If you are too early, you will miss and have to press fire button again after the anim resets, unless the target reacts (presses the fire button if another player) and breaks free. If you take too long after the grab, the target will break free and probably shoot you while you try to select another weapon. Other firemodes could be used for general stabbing and slashing (useful for breaking certain things like windows, disabling vehicles silently or in close combat when completely out of ammo etc). If the conditions are not perfect for the animation, it will simply not trigger. This is where skill and experience would come to play.

    Stealth Kills?

I'd say melee combat in Mount & Blade Warband is easily on par what firearms/armour/air combat is in ArmA.

    Stealth Kills?

How often do the Marines drive a hummer over a pack of insurgents in Iraq/Afghanistan, as if they were bowling pins? That shit happen all the time in "milsims" :p Also, "stealth kills" with blunt force weapons and knives are very common IRL. Sure there's some noise, but way less than firing unsupressed weapons. (my point being, Arma isn't just about modern warfare between 1st world nations, rather a platform for all kinds of violent gameplay)

    How to improve MP warping

You cannot skip updating non-LOS entities in a game like Arma. Such uncertainty would render lots of client-side scripting, triggers and AI useless. Everything would have to be made server-side, and that's not how Arma works.
  14. You can make arrays of units of specific side like this: -make a trigger, activated by west, once. resize it to cover all units at mission start -onActivation: westUnits = +thislist Now you can iterate through the array we named "westUnits" with the command forEach: { if(_x distance hostage<100)then{hostage domove getpos _x} } forEach westUnits You should add some more logic, like removing dead units from the array etc but you get the idea.

    A3 Modding (Maps,Sounds)

When realistic sounds means weak and boring sounds, I'd rather take the Hollywood version honestly. The thing is, real sounds need to be spiced up a lot in order for a video game to reproduce any of the real feeling at just a fraction of the real sound pressure. I've shot a 7,62mm assault rifle and heard lots of artillery fire, and they sure as hell don't sound weak in real life, but literally shake you and feel deep in your chest. Now, if I had the sound equipment to play back the real sounds at full blast to get the same effect, everyone within 1km radius would know when I'm playing.

Light Machine Guns sink into the ground

He's got a very good point IMO. Weapon bracing and functional bipods is a must for realistic shooters, otherwise you might as well be playing Quake Live :D Replicating what RO1 did would be fine, or even better, RO2: 2zogCqAI2uY

    Fireplaces put out while raining

This is the real reason why they added PhysX.
  20. Haha, what, where you getting that? How about actually reading the article? It's motion control, where you "run around using the simulator, which is a training area with a 10-by-10 foot pad". I don't know how exactly it will work but there is bound to be some sway when moving. If you refer to the trailer, that's not actually for "US Army Dismounted Soldier Training System" at all but an older trailer for Real Time Immersive engine.
  21. If you see a smooth OFP video with 1000 units in action, chances are it was rendered in slow motion (setacctime), then sped up to 1x time in editing. This way you can create a very smooth 60fps video from a scenario that would only run 6fps in real time. A "bangin' CPU to do it smoothly" simply does not exist, not even with NASA or IBM super computers, because OFP doesn't support multithreading.

Why should I buy your game ?

Therefore, one must also suspect that Arma2 is a console port :D Even though the console version (xbox360 without doubt) was eventually cancelled without a word of explanation, for the longest time Arma2 was going to be released for "PC and next generation console" according to bistudio.com and arma2.com. For the OP. Honestly, I think you will have more fun saving your money for BF3 DLC. Arma is a much more simulator-like take on a FPS war game than BF, but lacks its polish and game design. Making it not the best product for a "normal customer" as you describe yourself.

    Ghost Recon: Online

You need to go to http://ubi.com/ and create a Uplay account. Old ubi.com accounts don't work any more in Raven Shield.

    The 'Bad' Guys Klan

This kind of assymmetric mission type was already coined in OFP. It's called Attack & Defend. There's no need for a specific clan to play the bad guys though, especially a clan that "anyone can join". Sooo... anus?
