[Tip] Great FPS Boost on NVIDIA graphics card

Well short of locking your max frames to your panel refresh with vsync the standard NVidia panel doesn't allow a whole lot of tweaking. Grab nvidia inspector, has a tools button which leads you to a profile editor. You can then manually set your own limit (seen as 'Frame Rate Limiter' under common). Can be very handy for mid-lower systems to set your max frames at say 30 frames then reverse engineer video settings from there. The idea being that when your cruising through open sections and hitting your max frame setting the GPU still has a bit in reserve when you hit tougher sections and isn't wasting the effort on superfluous frames, improving the transition and reducing noticeable lag.

    GPNVG-18 Concept Idea

I'd love a version of these that took advantage of my triple head ;)
  3. So now Martin is violating the the EULA with BIS? And wouldn't the above mentioned DMA notice be ineffective as no one realy has the rights to sell anyway?

    ARMA III & Steam WORKSHOP

Say what? Even with the kick start from Eric-M and Rock my Mi-24A was still 100's of hrs in the making by myself. Not to metion hundreds of hrs spent over a few years gathering research material. And if I wanted to gloat I'd prefer to talk down the hours and make myself look more efficient. 10 hrs may get you 1 reletively simple map object if you know what your doing and dont run into too many issues. Your claim sir is preposterous
  5. Don't agree with the OP, game looks great as far as I'm concerned, if he cant even recognise the tress he may have to fix his settings. Or maybe its the new drugs I'm not getting.

    ARMA III & Steam WORKSHOP

Well I see that just makes the decision easier. I may only be speaking for myself here but reach has never been an issue for me because the motivation has always been about giving back to the community that has always fostered so much creativity. Sure the occasional nod of recognition is nice but I have no doubt the intended recipients of my work know where to find it if they want it.

    Tips on flying a helicopter?

Actually after thinking about this some more you may be right. I 've been dabbling with flight sims for so long I don't think I can objectively look at it from a newcomers point of view. Like I said I usually fly with rudder pedals and stick so I suppose my keyboard and mouse set up is the ultra lazy way for when I can't be bothered, and the turn option doesn't really bother me because I know what its doing.

    Battlefield 4

Never had a BF title till BF3, and since I rebuit my machine a few months back I havn't bothered reinstalling. I found the experience too gimiky and totaly meh and not worth the EA/Origin hog of time and bandwidth. Add that impression to the fact that I now have A3 and the feedback from you guys sugesting BF4 is actualy BF3.5 i'll not get any closer to BF4 than this post.

Jump MF - basic mod to unlock vaulting animation

Inclinded to agree, tactical pace seems to to be a fast walk, slow jog, this leap is better suited to run and sprint. @ Das Attorney, you said you weren't sure of how to connect it to fatigue, am I requesting the same thing if I ask it to be related back to load? It would be good to have a weight restriction to the ability.
  10. *sigh* people who cant use scroll wheel, or shit mice? And how often do you really change weapons? I never pull a pistol unless my ammo runs dry (my bad). And switching to a rocket launcher shouldn't be Insto Rambo Blamo anyways.

    Tips on flying a helicopter?

Yep, makes a lot of sense. Though you could take it one step further in terms of laziness. As rudder effectiveness is related to speed I bind mouse left/right to Turn left/right. Turn uses a mix of rudder and roll depending on speed so when very slow or hovering its becomes fine rudder control. That leaves A&D for roll when you need to move sideways from hover. PS I get your objection to 'Turn' in the ticket, and spliting and mixing collective and cyclic is terribly bad form, but for noobs on keyboard and mouse this is probably the easiest wayto fly.

    ARMA III & Steam WORKSHOP

Bottom line No1: As a someone who may one day release an addon for A3. I do that shit for fun. Not to jump through hoops to maintain the integrity of my IP. Currently this community does all the watch dog'n for itself which has benefits that a give-away EULA like Steam Workshop just cant touch. Rock, Gnat, Binkowski, and DM have been dead on. Bottom line No2: Steam Workshop does nothing to make my life easier. As I will play multiple mods and sometimes specific groups of addons, SIX does a great job of updating the specific mods when I want to use them and I simply cant imagine how SWS could be an improvement. SWS simply isn't worth the cost to the community for the sake of a few players who cant understand file structure or get their heads around PwS

    ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread

An An-12 please, with a beat up gun runners appearance I think we've been teased with the possibility a few times over the years but I'm yet to see one. And an Australian Hawkei.

Australian defense force - amp unit

Ah sweet, though truth be told it wouldn't suprise me one bit if there was still something very much like the M4 around in 2035. They already have the platform spewing out every usefull type of round. Seems the only thing theoretically that could killit is caseless rounds but only if they were cheaper. Even then they'd probably still make the damn thing to look like an M4.

    SJB Weapons Pack

And though I'd hate to see this turn into a request thread I'd like to throw in some 'positive reinforcement' for 417's and a Beowulf aswell. ;) Great to see the Jackal is back!

^^^ And using M4's?? Must be a budgetry requirement. Skins are nice though

Arma 3: Confirmed features | info & discussion

^^^Ouch! I realy do hope BIS does some work on damage effects all round. Hollywood fuel based fire balls and secondaries on everything (even the quad bike FFS) get dull very quick

    challenger 2 main battle tank

Very sweet! With my own observations as long as you can view it buldozer you can kind of get away with it (25000 verts, 1 normal each, give or take seems the limit) just keep the section count as low as you can.
  19. Hey I was just thinking someone should do a vid about vid settings. Good on sidestraffe. Though he didn't mention how some of the settings are interconnected ie, shadow quality and shadow distance will play against each other. And view distance and terrain quality and object quality all overlap in functionality a bit. Also missed how the biggest visable effects of post processing is often on hard surface objcets (or white animals) under certain lighting conditions. Still very informative and a must for those coming from consoles.
  20. Even if I knew anything about AMD hardware it could be difficult to say with the description of 'low'. It would make advice much easier if you posted all your vid settings exactly and your monitors native resolution and an idea of the frame rate you are getting. Though on the face of it I'd say you should be able to find a level that gives you playable frames on that setup.

    64-bit executable

SFW BF3 is using the CPU for bling, A3 is leaving some overhead to handle AI when it arrives. This is what you are seeing. Comparing turnips to tomatoes as far as I can see. This argument is made of slider maxers who cant cant comprehend what the ArmA AI is, let alone stand that a game might need the next the generation of hardware to max settings on. I have no problems running A3 on my current machine or my previous gen machine (Q9650, 8G ram, GTX285). Being realistic about settings solves everything. I do however acknowledge there are some issues currently with MP and operating large amounts of AI , but hey its still early days. besides they already said no to 64bit
  22. Just pushed the Alpha lite to my second machine (first machine in spioler below) Q9650, 8gig ram, and a GTX 285, and can get quite playable frames (steady 30+) @ 2.5k view distance, res 1600x 1060, on mechanical drives. Have to sacrifice a good chunk of bling but it still looks playable.

What defines size of used model texture?

Sry badly described, I was refering to opening a project in O2 with materials pointing at .tga's. I noticed it can automaticaly convert them to .paa for you as soon as you open a view in buldozer. hmm, think I've heard of the problem ,but never experienced that problem specificaly myself. Have you tried sorting faces in O2?

What defines size of used model texture?

^^ @American FC where did you get that from? @RedPhoenix is this something that has occured with the automated tga - paa function? Haveyou tried opening the texture as a 4096^.tga in textview and using the save as.
