pathetic_berserker replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I've ben working on a 4 seat 'Wilga' since ArmA 1 days in between other stuff. It' been my project to teach myself about making normal maps from high poly models ,still a long way to go, but may see something in the WIP section before the end of the year -
ARMA 2 Adult content
pathetic_berserker replied to ARGold's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
True but the poll at the top of page does ask quite specificaly whether or not you would use adult content. Implies the thread is not about a MOD makers right to make adult content but if said content should be made. -

Is BinPBO realy ythis bad?
pathetic_berserker posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : BI TOOLS - TROUBLESHOOTING
Just wonderimng if people are experiencing the same bugs as I am Firstly its defualt settings for files to copy and temp folders appear ok when opened ofter installation but disapear on subsequent tries. SOLVED THE REST Folders to copy, such as /data and /icon have become a hit or miss afair and finaly after telling me that it couldn't copy my project to its destination this morning I've found the source folder emptied of my work and seemingly lost. Fortunately I'm backed up and have only lost a few hrs work, but If I cant find a fix there is little hope in continuing when compiling the project is so problematic It may be something I'm doing but shafted as to what, my path and drive settup is same as my previous work with ArmA1, The new BinPBO HAS worked at times. FYI, I'm running Vista 64bit, -

PBO View binarizes ARMA2 files? Thanks will look into it. Any way I solved half my issues by taking a breath and going over things very carefully, was in a bit of a rush earlier trying to get something ready for a LAN this week end. Some embarrassing errors, however it still refuses to hold any settings wich becomes a minor drag -
[Alpha] RTE for ArmA II
pathetic_berserker replied to i0n0s's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
solved Cant help but think I'm doing something wrong as no one else has spoken about it, I only have mines available under empty objects?? Everything else seems to work ok (and impressively I might add) but I lose empty objects list as soon as I hit esc then into RTE. Pity as I had initialy installed it specifically to place same buildings. Using ArmA2 1.04 and RTE v5 solved didn't think to dig at the blank boxes, OUT A SIGHT ! -
Probably get flamed to death for this
pathetic_berserker replied to MullattoJones's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Hmm similar specs to my older stet up, rekon your settings will be to the lower end, with post-process off, but should be able to get playable FR's with some tweaking. Now just wait here a mo while I go get the flame thrower....... -
37 But I believe I stopped aging when I started gaming @12. Isn't it hilarious how all the 20 somethings say they feel old

ArmA2:OHMOD Preview
pathetic_berserker replied to fromz's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Probably no more than the Americans have been training to deal with China in a conflict. At any rate fantastic stuff! I imagine when the new Australia Island is complete for ArmA 2 we will have the perfect middle ground to test all this fantastic stuff. (kind of funny coz Aus is more or less friendly to both). It will certainly be big enough to cope with all the armour and jets. -
ARMA 2 Adult content
pathetic_berserker replied to ARGold's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
The above post is good. I for one couldn't give a rats about adult content If its your thing stick to FO and the adult content, Fo is good at setting seedy scenes so it seems in context. If you still crave it do as the post above says or just become a security guard and spend some years working night shift. Before long you'll be sick of it, but realize as an adult you stilll have many more years to deal with it. If you find a way to make it work in the context of a story, well and good, but ArmA for me has always been more about the team play. -
AGS Buildings Pack ported by PMC
pathetic_berserker replied to Snake Man's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hey Guys, Havn't got around to looking at your port Snake Man but it seems its main piont was the one thing i couldn't be bothered with, the texture merging. I did however optimize all the lods fix any geo problems and get shadows working. And I have no problem with kju arranging a merge of work to the benifit of all. -
New evga sli fix works :-)
pathetic_berserker replied to nzjono's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
The EVGA fix is just a set of SLI profiles, so if you already have some set up ie, using crysis profile for ArmA2, then it may overwrite them. I'm running 2 8800GTS in SLI and found the crysis proflile gives slightly better frames than the EVGA one, but the price is the flickering at load screens. @ Viper check the tools at the top of the page, when on the SLI page with latest NVIDA drivers, under '3D settings' shows 'Show SLI visual Indicators'. -

That was a CRAP load to say........ -
Taken a little bit of playing around to get running as well as I have ArmA1 going but it's looking very promising. Even found myself 'in the MP zone' for a few hrs tonight, awsome, so i got to say well done BIS! Curiously though, 'Prt Scr' pastes a pure black screen ??? is this a Demo thing or does the full version do this as well

Hmm.. the last few previews have been basicaly good and BIS have claimed to be working on a number of their mentioned bug issues since the Feburary build so I'm optimistic that we will get a reasonably complete game after the extra 5 months development. And I think it's right that the media talk about the bugs they see with the build they have been given. After all it's thier job. They don't get paid to keep quiet about the faults, they are doing the best (mostly) to keep thier readers informed of the games development. Its up to BIS to release statments to keep them informed on progress, and there is the "work in progress" statment quite clear across the top of the screen. Ive seen similar critical previews of high exposure titles and they haven't hurt, as long as the final package delivers. -
Project: UK Forces
pathetic_berserker replied to da12thMonkey's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Well I would commend you on stepping forward. But from what I read its not actually ALL your fault. Between the behaviour of some of your other squad members and the fact that this is an ongoing issue with others, it has simply erroded thier motivation and fair enough to. At any rate I wish all involved @PUKF the best -

Agreed about the icons but a bit confused by a few posts that talk about AA being turned off. I run an 8800GTS, run ArmA at my screens native resolution 1600x1050 and dont see any difference beween AA low and AA Very High until the picture starts moving and then still barely detectable. Maybe I'm confused about wich screenys they are refering too. So much in such a short space of time. Argh! Also I had another thought about the C-130 thing. Besides being a good prop to add atmosphere to the single player campaign (something many felt the first one was lacking) it also may prove and provide a platform example to the community for new systems in ArmA such as working cargo (fingers crosed). Which in my book is reason enough to warrant its existance. -

Ever heard of an air drop? -
totaly agree there. I also think it would be good to see another Russ fighter. But then again we have seen some nice Russian fighters come out of the community for AmA1.

It's hard to tell whether or not they are correct just from the screens. Â Those screen shots are certainly not to scale with each other. In ArmA, the soldiers were larger than average people. Â I think they are 185 centimeters tall. Â This would make them slightly bigger compared to the rest of the vehicles and stuff than you would expect (they were certainly not easy to fit into the trabant). Â I would expect that they are scaled fairly realistically. Â Scaling in 3d is one of the easier things to do. What are your concerns? I'm not exactly comparing the vehicles to each other by using the new images in the arma2 web site. I guess i was not quite clear what i tried to say or ask: If the vehicles are to scale in game comparing to the normal soldiers, houses and from each vehicles in game: I'm kinda reluctant in the scale matter of the Abrams m1a1 and the soldiers on real life scales concern. By looking to the following pictures, in game and real life ones, can you see any abnormal scaling error? Or its just my impression?! When i look carefully and analyze the size of the tank and compare it with the mounted soldiers i notice something is odd and not correct. 'Insert pics here' Maybe its the angle, i not sure. In my opinion the M1a1 from the in game pictures of ArmA2 looks kinda small, short, maybe compact is the proper word to use. By the way I thought it would be hard to scale things, but if you say its easy BIS Still have time to re-fix a more realistic size, no? Edit: typo I think what your seeing is due to both the angle of the pics and the standard BIS 185cm height for units. I noticed that the crew member in the last pic must be a big guy as he looks very similar to the BIS situation. I dont know how it goes in the US but most of the AUS tankies that I've ever met tended to be on the smaller end of the scale. I think rescaling any of this stuff would be pointless. Firstly because I think BIS work hard to make all the objects to scale (and any modeler can tell you that this arguably the easiest way to do it) and secondly, without a range of body shapes, rescaling the men will only lead to creating a new pigeon hole to stick the units in. Having multiple pigeon holes ie shorter crew, taller infantry, and medium pilots may offer glipses of short term visual parity but I imagine is a lot of work for little to no gain. And may even complicate things badly as all will still have to suit the given seating proxies.

damnit! i knew i should have copyrighted FARMA when i had the chance! You should at least have kept the rights to create sequels of it!!! Â PS: I had a good laugh the first time you mentioned FARMA Still laughing as well, especially as to how it now hijacked two threads. If someone can get horse riding to work then we'ed have a mod down pat. I mean working with pigs, especialy boars can be dangerous, horses are fast, donkeys for frustration, chickens for the smell, ...oh we don't have smellevision yet....and cows because thats why cowboys shoot each other. The only thing missing are the crops but then again who realy likes to watch grass grow. Then we throw in the sort of weather system that gives farmers the shits with droughts and floods and players will have cause to invade nieghbours, shed blood and create chaos. Lastly for spice we include a few upgrades, Cows of course can stampede, but did you know they can also release a noxious gas cloud when attacked, chickens have a noise attack that works a bit like standing next to a firing M1A1 in A.C.E.. While boars stick you with tusks, throwing you some 15ft in air, and will proceed to eat anything that looks vaguely unconcious. -
Overall a good selection, though I was initially a bit dumbfounded by the XM-8 , the SCARS would have made a lot more sense. On the bright that gives the community a chance to contribute a weapon we will actually use!
