Option 3, and hitting fire button again to cock. Though hitting reload seems logical, it would make movement a bit too......interesting.

Arma 3 Community Alpha - Announcement!
pathetic_berserker replied to royaltyinexile's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
^^ hey what about the dedication of addon makers, that must be like a gizillion points or sumfin' I rekon just about anyone who is still reading this thread will probably play the Alpha, pre-order, buy all the future DLCs' and continue bitching about how bitch'n BIS stuff is to raise thier post counts till eternity, no matter how inter-conected it all is. But what I realy wanted to say was I think its geat that BIS are releasing a community Alpha. My problem now is waiting till after E3. -

Um, wow, never expected the be refered to as one of the "greats". It's realy fantastic to hear the kind words from all, but I don't think I'm up there with the best of this community (yet ;) ). The list of folks I look up to in this community is long! Hah! I'd like to see that to. Maybe later when I'm home. All my work is done with Blender, GIMP, Leopatams Blender plugin and of course BIS' tools. The BIS wiki and the stickys' in the editing sections and the search function on these forums or ArmAStack are your friend. You should be able to find a few tuts about. Gnat for one, has done some good video introductions to O2. GIMP is much the same as Photoshop, and Blender has a huge community and heaps of tutorials about. Go knock yourself out! Its fun! Flight model is currently quite easy to fly, though there may yet be some work done to bring its feel closer to the BIS hind, as well as some work to replicate the flaws present in the early production version. But we'll see. As to the PMC idea, I LOL'd, I had initial plans for a PMC styled skin based on crocodile skin, in similar vein to the Czech 'Tigers' and a big WW2 'nose art' style logo emblazoned down the side, but time, file size and my skills are a bit against the idea just at the moment. But you'll be free to come up with anything you like after release, the skins are defined by 'hiddenselectionstextures'. Right now my priorites are speculars, supershaders, and animations -

Ok got a couple more skins I've been working on **BTW the following images are between .4meg and 1meg in size** Early days of the Russian occupation? This skin was based off a museum piece so there may be some debate to its accuracy but hey this is the Armaverse, and it is a bit of departure from the others And some ingame shots showing the final look of the pilots instruments panels, instrument clock faces thanks to BIS. PS, appologies in advance to our Russian speaking comrades, I know there will be some spelling errors, I don't actualy know the language and there were some gaps in my reference material. I thought about just bluring everything for consistancy but felt this still looked best under normal (not zoomed) flying conditions. If you get annoyed with my attempt give me a correction and I'll see what I can do. -
Get in get out animation + more questions
pathetic_berserker replied to r20's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
^^ @R20 think its already been stated that some degree of the TOH flight model will ake it to A3 It would be cool but not a deal breaker for me. The getin/out animations in TOH are quite a bite more sophisticated than A2's, multi stage and specific to particular vehicles, so I'm not sure it's a good way to spend resources. And as long as there is always access to a range of generics I'll be happy, anything to avoid a work load crunch on community addon makers is a good thing. -
Linking ArmA 3 with DCS/Combat Helo/Steal Beast
pathetic_berserker replied to Macadam Cow's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
87 votes and 30 replies....A pol about remaining silent for fear of stating the obvious?... anyone? Sarcasm aside it does bring to mind the question of just how things might be improved on the combined arms front. It would be great if we could have larger more believable areas of operation for the jets and heli's without comprimising the fidelity, details and imersion for the guys on the ground. -
IceBreakr's Poll: Which island scenery conversion would you like the most?

Balkania does the most for me. -
Yes you made your point but then where? What did you expect? When things come to a head and end up in court do you think its just a matter of someone repeating the same few points again and again till someone pats them on back and says good job? Of course not.
-
^^ And you appear to quoting the same few lines over and over again about 'Terms" without refrencing the details/differences of the actual services in question

Cold War Rearmed² : Demo³
pathetic_berserker replied to W0lle's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Max Power that is awsome, I actualy took a moment to compare your screens to ingame and felt a little sad that in game the fidelity of the textures seems to drops just enough to lose so much. I also felt a little shame, as I'll be hidding behind that fidelity drop a little when I release my Mi-24A, my textures are not as good as yours. -
^^ I think the problem is more about the lengths you have gone to over a technicality. In reality the statment that ""OMG they can cancel the service anytime!" can be applied to any digital content ", is in effect false. Only with systems like Steamworks can publishers have that level of control over the digital content, but this in turn gives power to Steam at the same time. But in my eyes this is just a negative to steam, not the whole reason for not using it. The reason I didn't vote to use steam is because it serves no particular benifit to BIS or its clients. Steam is a great avenue for publishers/developers who are a bit lazy about protecting thier IP and/or arranging distribution. BIS on the other hand already has this covered. So why would BIS subject itself to the potentialy negative side effects and extra development costs of incorporating Steam, or subject purchasers to Steamworks, when its not required.

NOW YOU JEST! :p:p:p:p:p:p
-
No its not rocket science, in fact some may argue that rocket science is simpler, but it is a completely avoidable development/cost overhead.

PvP Animation replacement/enhancement pack
pathetic_berserker replied to smookie's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Another taken by natural selection..... Quite heartening realy to have already experienced the quality of works of thosefolks being snatched by the ones above -
^^ And the case where a downloaded game relies on the service to be played?
-
But realy. Why the middle man? Your game and your purchase are perfectly secure without steam, steam dosn't improve anything, so there is no real good reason to use it (except where they have used thier power for evil and have a strangle hold on a game you want). I'm going to go out on limb here and guess that all those supporting it are either middle men, or middle managment, ..birds of a feather,. ..and all that.
-
Why am I reading so many posts that imply steam is the only way to aquire a legit digital version of a game? BIS already has this covered so why would steam be considered necessary?
-
I don't think anyone, said is was automatic. I said 'If releasing standalone packages has meant a better profit margin for them them that is what they should follow.'
-
Well I wouldn't deny that there have been issues with steam, and as BIS had agreed to use them it was their responsibility to fix it, but I think the lenghth of time it has taken an otherwise highly supportive studio like BIS to fix it is an indication of how difficult steam can make things for game makers. I think your confusing issues here, steam is a seperate issue to the concept of standalone releases. And blah blah blahing about how BIS would benift from having a publisher to prevent buggy games is simply absurd. Have you forgotten Codies last foray into the OFP genre? Do you realise how many creative games studios have been swallowed up and spat out by publishers like Codemasters/EA/Activison forcing them into unreaistic time lines then still publishing the buggy crap. At the end of the day BIS has survived its ups and downs and still still strives to do better. If releasing standalone packages has meant a better profit margin for them them that is what they should follow.
-
Realy? how can you prove that? And since when did BIS reinvent the wheel here? Same situation applies to other top quality games that have expansions be it stand alone or otherwise. And the same rule applies, if you get confused, do your homework, read the material, or ask someone. Perfectly reasonable life skills that most of us here have aquired. I simply followed the readme when i got OA and viola! had A2:CO working no problem.

Arma 3: Community wishes & ideas- DISCUSSION
pathetic_berserker replied to Maio's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Wondering if you mean getting rid of O2 all together or just having plugins that feed into O2. I dont see much point in developing O2 much further (unless to is to reinstate 'make convex', oh how I miss that function). As leopatams blender plugin works very well and I'm quite liking the way blender does things. I'll never go back to using O2 for modeling (just that kind of horse I supose), but I do still find the step of going through o2 kind of usefull, it purges alll the peripheral stuff and lets you check your work through the ArmA engine eyes. -
Steam = completely pointless
