pathetic_berserker replied to pathetic_berserker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : BI TOOLS - TROUBLESHOOTING
Thanks for the reply Sickboy, password hasn't changed, and tried generating new keys but it didn't solve the problem. Noticed in the link that armatec went so far as to reinstall his OS and the problem persisted so I'm fast losing hope. Oddly when I got around the issue last time it wasn't even on my machine or user, but I will try changing passwords, double check account settings and see what happens. -

Sry to bump an old thread but this problem is still persisting for me, now for my Mi-24A. I tried dusting off the ol' 32 bit Vista laptop again, but now its also giving the same error messages. All tools used are from the 2.5.1 installation. -
Thanks to the generous kickstart from EricM and Rock I finaly gathered the courage to stop trawling for references and start working on the first incarnation of what we know as the Hind. Already there has bee a great deal of swearing and spitting as I try to deal with nothing but photos and badly drawn schematics, but finaly think I have something to show. Almost finished roughing in the cockpit, just the ATM optical and cabling around the glass house canopy to do After that its a few (easier) tweaks to the fuselage, and then textures. I was suprised to find the 'A' variant had actualy seen fair bit of combat action with a number of operators so I'm yet to decide on whether to go for full retextures or a roundel system.

ErrorMessage: Bad version 50 in p3d file 'paf_mi24_a\paf_mi24a_export.p3d' Does anyone know what this is about? Only just now decided to check my work against A2 vanila and this crashed the game upon previewing a mission . A2OA.rpt appears clean and fine -

Sry Alwarren I'm having a little difficulty visualising your problem I'm using Blender to do everything then using leopotams blender/O2 plugin to go to O2. The mesh I export tends to use edge splits on smooth faces rather than flat faces, and vertex normals are a liittle wierd on import but I usualy do a quick cut paste to refresh. As for the actual tangent space normal map generated in blender, its just a texture so remains good as long I don't change the UV mapping. If your not satisfied with the results your getting it maybe some other setting ie, 'bias', 'distance' , and for unwanted seams probably 'margin' Do you by chance use Leopotams blender/O2 tools Might be better to delve into the problem there instead of hijacking this thread. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?105516-Blender-import-export-plugins Maybe something is getting lost here in translation so to speak. -

?? I have no problem using Blender to bake normal maps. Though at times it may require a test to check the x,y are in the correct orientation. Axis can be flipped either when baking or later by inverting the proper colour channel. -

I think Chernarus is along the coast of the Caspian Sea, and the others are somewhere in the Atlantic, there maybe something a bit more specific out there but I think BIS always left it a bit lose.

cannot load material....RVMAT damage textures
pathetic_berserker posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : ADDONS - Configs & Scripting
Hey guys, was hoping someone could give me a clue to my last major issue for my Hind-A wich currently uses the ol' texture damage type instead of the wreck Basicaly if you look at the excerpt from my config there are 3 lines in the class damage that I have been playing about with (hence the '//////') class Damage { tex[] = { }; mat[] = { //////////////// "paf_mi24_a\data\paf_hind_bdy.rvmat","paf_mi24_a\data\paf_hind_bdy.rvmat","paf_mi24_a\data\paf_hind_bdy.rvmat" "paf_mi24_a\data\paf_hind_bdy.rvmat","paf_mi24_a\data\paf_hind_bdy.rvmat","paf_mi24_a\data\paf_hind_destruct.rvmat" //////////////// "paf_mi24_a\data\paf_hind_bdy.rvmat","paf_mi24_a\data\paf_hind_bdy.rvmat","ericm-hind\data\destroyed_tg_hind_fuselage.rvmat" }; }; The first series gives no error message, but no damage textures either, as I'd expect, so no problem. The second series gives the 'cannot load material' error before loading in game and no damage textures. I've tried a number od different rvmats, and different names, even tried renaming a copy of my base rvmat , but the error message persists. The third series works. Which I supose implies I got every thing else in the right place. But of course relies on having ericM's Hind installed. -

Thanks Soul_Assassin, Short memory. -
^^ yep kind of bugs me too, Though I thought maybe it was due to BLUFOR rebels capturing (reclaiming), OPFOR's latest (stolen tech) vehicles. Thats asuming what is known so far of the campagain story line. But there should still be a definative BLUFOR MBT if only for side missions and MP, and I think it would be better to be Euro centric (I'd vote Leopard but happy with Challenger), rather than the US Abrams.

I think I get what DaMan3 is saying here but he's missing one vital point. OFP's campaign didn't focus on smaller scale operations. It's just that its story was tighter and focused on a smaller parts of the larger operations. The number of toys and the specifics of how they operate is kind of less relevant compared to how they might be used in the story telling process. For example is it more atmospheric to force players to take control of Unmanned vehicles to accomplish a mission, vs say having to aviod being spotted by one? The UV can still feature, but it is used very differently in each example. Its one of those areas that I think BIS has had difficulty with since OFP. I think the Campaign needs to be a tight story driven affair, supplemented by single missions or mini campaigns (2-4 consecutive missions) that incorporate the specifics of particular war toys.

Voice recognition for AI commands for Arma 3
pathetic_berserker replied to SpineShaker's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Ah LOL! Had to give VACbuilder a try last night after I saw this thread, and yes I got the queer looks and questions from the wife as I crawled into bed. Hopefully A3 retains the OFP core command system and hotkeys, that way the VAC profile should for the most part continue working. (and I wont have to learn a new system) -

Where might this be I wonder? *Images <100k* -
I know this going to sound super cynical, but I'm seeing some still have trouble differentiating between steam and steam works as per the thread and wonder if the BIS /community solutions will ever be enough for those that need to see the 'steam' prefix.

The trouble with getting people into Arma
pathetic_berserker replied to instagoat's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
BTW. Welcome I can understand why playing with 'freinds' is important to many and theres a few games wich I only play with mates. But I have found with ArmA that I'm quite a bit less concerned about it. Generaly the maturity level is quite high so for me it becomes more a choice betwen what missions are on offer on the servers I know are run well. Though as a fuction that a great many online games have offered for years it maybe time to for BIS to catchup on that one. -

^^ I'm a little confused here tacticalnuggets. I cant see where Omninorm quote supports your argument against fighting AI. And I'm not sure what your proposing to do about AI either? What I do see is that Omninorm a qualified noob (respectfully) at ArmA has declared that its ArmAs sophistication that got him INTO IT, and the only flaw is with mod installation. Folks here need to keep thier eyes on the ball. And though being a long term BIS gamer means MOD installation for me is a piece of cake , (now with sugar coating in terms of 6updater) I can see it being worth BIS's time to improve Mod installation. If they are serious about it it should be as easy as installing the mod folder then ticking a box on the front end before the game loads. The current system of having to restart the game after selecting mods is a bit dodge.Though of course having a BIS version of 6updater would be great I don't realy expect them to go so far as providing mod updates. As for controls, dumbing down commands will only water down the series' strengths, hell I still order most of my commands the old fashioned OFP way. I like being able to simpy tap a few hot keys to make my AI run in circles ;P -

Pretty comprehensive list of cars of this type over the years here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_car Couldn't find any real close matches. Quite convinced now that the OFP car is a Mini mash up, the body and fairing proportions just scream Mini to me. And the mash up is probably for IP reasons. @Max, if no actual can be found, is CWR looking to say, do an acurate Mini or a better quality mashup?- 1308 replies
