MP-campaign for Finnish ARMA2 with ACE2 mod players!

We currently have 12 players signed up for the campaign and anyone wishing to join is is welcome to do so in our forums! Edit: Oh and btw. It looks like we will be using TS3 + Arma2TS plugin instead of Mumble in the campaign. -

My personal preference would be to still leave 1 chopper for a pure troop transport chopper so the need for doing the "1. were carrying the MHQ 2. oops one guy was left behind 3. we gotta drop the MHQ 4. we gotta pick that one guy up 5. pick up the MHQ again" -routine might be solved with the troops being moved with a troop transport chopper and the MHQ with a heavy lifter.. because compared to the heavy lifters the MH-60 is quite maneuverable and might be able to get into zones that are hot.. and more importantly get out also :D -

Well I do agree that in many dominations that I've played, there is enough gameplay for "cleaning up others mess" for a whole dedicated support section which whole purpose is to haul wrecks back to base and get them back online plus move a few MHQ back and forth for repair / rearm. So basically the need for the wreck lifter is so-so and this brings me to another idea about the choppers. How about converting the MH-60s to what they really can lift, like hmmwvs and "light" stuff like that.. I dont think a Knighthawk or a Blackhawk could lift a LAV-25 for example. So have the MH-60s as troop transport / light lifters only, and change the wreck chopper as a heavy lifter, probably a CH-47 Chinook or smth really big, which in theory might be able to lift such stuff.. I took the MH-53 for a spin there and even though it looked like a fun thing to fly it really needs some tweaks since it was REALLY fast and hard to stop even hehe... I mean I was doing over 300kph before I noticed I was even moving on that thing.. And yet according to specs it should only be a tad faster than a MH-60.. -

Rather than having a pilot in all squads I would personally go for a 2-4 person squad with only pilots.. That way any team needing transport can call in any available chopper without having to wait for the chopper in "their team" to be ready. And about my medic actions, I think I did only a decent job as at some point I did do a lot of other stuff than being a medic and did neglect my duties as a medic to some degree. At least compared to the standard we have in the games in our FinTac community. :) -
Damn you IceBreakr! I'm going to have to start wearing a tinfoil hat 'cause I've been cursing about why there is no T-55 addons in any of the packs I use for my upcoming campaign on Duala.. :D

My suggestion for this would be a dedicated airtaxi squad. I know that in public games there is 90% of the time someone who is willing to be a dedicated taxi pilot. -

yeah actually I have a working Thirsk version of the latest beta7.. well.. I could call it beta7.1 since it also has configs for the Afrenian Army and cars plus Molatian Army from Isla Duala... I actually could make a full set of this beta7.1 and post it here soon.. Edit: okay so I lied a bit and couldnt be arsed to do the whole set but you can find a few of the "beta 7.1" versions from http://koti.mbnet.fi/sekra/vts Like mentioned, these will look through your configs and if you have afrenian army and cars and molatian army enabled it will add those units to your VTS units list. And the Thirsk versions too. And for further reference this is how you import the mission to a new island: 1. Get Kegetys' armatools pack 2. use the pbo extractor to extract a current VTS pbo 3. copy that extracted pbo to your missions folder under your arma2 profile folder (documents/arma 2 (other profiles/username/)missions 4. start arma2 and open up the editor in the new island with an empty mission 5. press "merge" and select the island you chose in step 2 and load up the "old" VTS mission 6. change the gamemaster unit into "player" and all other units that are named joueurXXX as playable 7. copy all the files and folders etc from the old VTS folder to the new one EXCEPT mission.sqm. if you copy this one after you do save or preview or anything chances are that you will crash to desktop without error and will lose all work so far! 8. test 9. save to multiplayer missions 10. upload to your server 11. play My guess is that Leo tried to just copy the units, triggers, markers and other stuff that is visible in the editor but didnt realise that 99% of VTS is external scripts and other files. -

You just keep at em! Your maps are by far the best I've seen of any. Most other maps have only a handfull of places that have the feeling that they have been given "manual detail" but in your maps every place feels like that. Love Panthera and love Isla Duala. Actually I'm a part of a Arma2 community that will be hosting a MP campaign that will be played on Isla Duala, although unfortunately for now the campaign is finnish only. One thing though.. Is the Pinzauger meant to handle like its driving on ice all the time? :D I mean its fun to drift all around but it feels like it handles a bit too underweight / overpowered or smth..

My point was that BIS didnt enable the removal of that thing. It had to be done by modders and even then its not 100%. And since I play MP only, every single addon you have eliminates a certain slice of servers to play on until you are down to only a handfull if you would like to play the game with all the mods you like. -

Fintac - A finnish tactical gaming community

We have been starting this community for a while now and now I feel we have a good enough base of people to start expanding. I now invite all finnish (non-finnish are welcome to play at our servers anytime too of course) gamers to join us at http://fintac.dy.fi or in Quakenet IRC #fintac -channel. For now we only accept finnish members, but everyone is invited to join our forums or IRC channel and servers to play. Currently the most active games we play are Arma 2 with ACE2 mod and Project Reality. We've also just started testing Arma2TS and like it very much so far and will probably be using it in the future. We are also hosting a mp-campaign starting 9th May for all finnish players of Arma 2 and ACE2 mod. Hop in there is still room! :D -

All you gotta do is make your software good enough for the fans to love it! Right now you are "forcing" it down everyones throat with a below-par UI and UI is slow as hell. I love the idea of Six Updater but the implementation is horrible. Take UI style and speed from Yoma, core from Six Updater and you would have my love forever. :p Also the need to manually check for version updates for Six Updater and manually having to update it is a pain (I dont know what the software thinks its updating but at least with every 0.X version update you have to manually reinstall it if you want it to work). Of course the best solution would be if these kinds of systems could be integrated straight into Arma either by the devs or give the modders some sort of API to work with. And sorry about being totally offtopic from the thread...

We've found out that whenever there is a update on Six Updater version X.Y.Z on the Y for example 0.8.Z -> 0.9.Z you need to manually update Six Updater.. -

I'm having a problem using ACE2 (SU ver 316) with JTD Fire and Smoke addon.. Every time I enable JTD Fire and Smoke and I take a ACE weapon from an weaponbox or have a ace vehicle on the mission I get a popup: "This mission requires content that was deleted..... blablabla" even though it works just fine. currently my startup line has cba, ace, acex, acex_pla, acex_sm, quesh kibrul, fdf podagorsk, isla duala, six aiaktalik, namalsk, panthera, japahto and jtd.. if I remove JTD all works just fine but if I have it on I get those errors all the time.. anyone else with this problem and idea how to solve it? Edit: heres a screenshot I took: when I remove JTD from the startup line the error also goes away..

okay.. this maybe a little overkill but could there be some sort of central repository for BE GUID bans so that once there is someone doing mass griefing on many servers, we could just load a (or BE get one automatically from somewhere, somehow) a "global" ban so no one has to suffer from a major retard anymore? :) Edit: I dont mean something brutal and quick, but a system like.. "this guid has been banned on 10 different servers in the last 3 days, first global ban for 1 week, if he continues after ban is lifted, increase time" etc.. i know its a bit poorly explained but you should be able to get the idea...
