    ]whats wrong with this picture?

What random act caused that to happen though? Its gonna be a pain manually pbo'ing that mission everytime I wanna play it. Its that kind of random wierdness that puts me off getting involved in the more complex aspects of Mission Editing.

    ]whats wrong with this picture?

Ok, this only happened after I changed the players default weapons loadout ( still using BAS weapons though ) which worked fine at first, but Id put the ammo and weapons in the wrong way round, so the player spawned with no ammo loaded. Avon kindly showed me the right way to go about it, and I put the mags in the init line and then the weapons. Worked fine, until I got this error in the Intro to the mission which wont play, though the mission itself plays fine. ( the units in the intro just use standard BAS weapon loadouts ). So i removed the changed weapon loadout from the init field, to no affect. Then I thought about what Avon said some more, and noticed that BAS_Weap was referenced in BOTH the Addon and AddonsAuto sections of the mission sqm, whereas in other missions it was only referenced in Addons. So I ammended the sqm to make it identical to other missions with the D&R, and manually pbo'd it, and I still have the problem. Its not affected any other mission that use the units, but has borked my latest mission, and I cant see for the life of me why?

Thats whats got me so puzzled Avon. Â I double checked the Mission sqm's and resaved the missions, and the Addon declaration is exactly the same as other missions ( I checked my own, and depbo'd some others just to make sure ). I'm stumped, unless theres some other part of the sqm I dont know about where they're referenced? Edit - it only affects the intros to my missions ...

PMC Ranger Path - OFP Campaign

I'm no military expert, so dont really know much about what Rangers actually do, but I'd imagine that they'd get sent on recon missions ( locating enemy bases, scouting transport routes etc ) as well as support missions for other units. You could have a mission where you have to locate targets for DeltaForce, or even just delivering vehicles or ammo for them to use ... Theres lots of kinds of missions you could make quite easily. It just feels at times that you are a 12 man Invasion force taking on the entire Russian Army single handedly, a couple of non-combat missions would break up that repetition nicely, and should be easy to make and slip into the campaign ... Maybe one of the military types that hang around these forums could tell us what kinds of non-combat missions Rangers are likely to take part in? Oh, and on the Littlebirds, as Avon said I used Snypirs really cool quick insertion script, it was actually simple to set up and use, I struggled with it because of the odd terrain on Afghanistan and where I had the choppers landing. LBird insertions are very cool though.

Yeah clearly a missing addon But look closer, what are they holding in their hands? Its the same addon in the same folder I've used almost daily for months now ( can u wear out an addon ) with a mission that never had any problems before. Though they work in other missions, they dont work in the missions Im working on .. even though they did for ages ... and I checked the mission.sqm and can see no difference between my missions and others that use the same addons ... I tried reinstalling the addons, resaving the missions to no effect. Whats all that about then?

PMC Ranger Path - OFP Campaign

I think this is a great campaign, partly because of the fantastic BAS units ( like yourself I was inspired by the Addons to make missions ) but the missions are well-made and difficult enough to keep the interest up. Funnily, I'm somewhere past halfway on the campaign now, and havent actually taken note of any bugs. I think you can take that as a big compliment, I've been too busy playing the missions to stop and think about bugs. The only thing I did comment on, was something that I just personally would prefer the option to disable or tone down. Though the comments were meant to be tongue-in-cheek and in humour, they werent taken that way, but thats the Internet for you. I think there are lots of OFP players out there that would enjoy the Chatter from the Players AI, but I personally prefer playing OFP without. Stick it in the Radio Menu! There are a couple of things in this thread I'd partly agree with in terms of the campaign as a whole: - I agree that some of the missions do get a touch repetitive, constantly raiding towns and bases. I dont think as a campaign it needs any major cutscenes or anything like that, but maybe a couple of simple vehicle-based Recon missions or Support missions might help break up that sense of monotamy. - The Rappel script, as cool as it is, is a little over-used, I'd like to see some LittleBird insertions, or Missions that use the cool KLR bikes that ship with the Rangers... I think this is a great campaign for slightly more experienced OFP players, as well as BAS fans, just a little more variety would spice up the package nicely.

The bug does need fixing. And you could perhaps, maybe, possibly release a new version of the Commanche with ( *gasp! ) Green Army Cammo!!! I know, discussed before a dozen times, but it would lead to more people downloading the wonderful addon ( and I suspect more mission makers using it in their missions, which I'd love to see ).

"Jun 6th, 2003. v1.0b rev 5 - AI Control script removed from players team (Sieg Heil! Aryan!)." LOL! I still think it should be an option in the radio menu. Just cause some dont like it doesnt mean all won't.

New verison of afghanistan island v3

Any word on how close this is to the final? Its a really great map, but as I found a couple of versions ago, theres little point making missions for this map until the map maker decides what he's doing with it. Shame about Naguals missions, they were fantastic ...

Yeah! And BIS should make a mission where one of your men gets left behind and you fly off in a chopper and see him getting chopped down by VC! They should also include a Beach Invasion set to Flight of the Valkeryies with Napalm and Surfing .... [/sarcasm.] I'd just hate to see OFP going for the quick cheap commercial dollar it would pull making just another Vietnam film rip-off game ... I loved that OFP came with its own original score and soundtrack, I sincerely hope BIS continue like that with their future products. As I said before, let the Mission makers out there make all the film based missions, they can then add any music they like!

    Eve of destruction mod

I play BF42, mainly because my best bud is a Desert Combat addict ( I cant get him to play ANY other game, even though I built his machine for him and installed 15+ of the best and latest games ), and even tho he's ex-Army ( REME, disability discharge ) I cant get him to even look at OFP. Which is a shame cause I know he'd love it, but he's far too much the "click and kill" type, if it requires reading a manual, then he cant be bothered. Annoys the crap outta me. Anyway, I do play BF42 ( mainly Desert Combat ) occasionally, simply because its so bloody hard to get a good game of OFP online when it suits me, its either a case of getting a bunch of people together at a pre-arranged time, or sitting in the lobby for ages waiting for a game. I know at least 4 people that returned their copies of OFP because of the online set up. JIP is a MUST for OFP2, no ifs no buts! So EOD : Not really that much different from standard BF42. The best feature is the Hueys which look great and fly much better than any other chopper in any BF42 Mod ( the engine just doesnt support chopper physics properly, so its a kind of hacked upright airplane ), which is much to the EOD teams credit. The weapons arent that vastly different from Vanilla BF42, with the exception that you can now empty a full MG magazine in one go without the barrel locking up due to overheating. Which is a bit silly really. ( Though OFP also has that problem ... 1-0 to BF42 there! ) The player models are nicely done ( though still sticking to BF42's cartoonish look ) and quite accurate as far as I can tell. The maps are probably the biggest let down for the mod at the moment. Some of them are downright plain ugly and crap to play. The best IMESHO is the "Charlie Don't Surf" map, which as you may have guessed is simply a rip off of the scene from Apocolypse Now ( the Mod uses "Flight of the Valkeryies" as its main theme ), not because its accurate or realistic or anything, just simply because it has some variety to its play, which many of the other EOD maps lack. I do think its sad that they decided to rip off Movies for their Mod rather than stick to actual Vietnam engagements. There are some that are supposedly based on actual Battles, but they are too boring to be worth any comment. The land vehicles have a lot of bugs, and the BTR-80 ( at least it looks sorta like the BTR-80 I got in OFP ) that the VC use is useless, blowing up the second you take it off-road, which brings me to my final conclusion about EOD : It seems to me that this Mod was designed for one purpose and one purpose alone. For Americans to relive the "Glory" of Vietnam in BF42. ( which kind of defeats the point of a Vietnam Mod for me ) Most of the maps are set up for the Americans to win everytime. The Hueys give a massive advantage to the American side, especially as the VC on some maps have no Air transport of their own to balance things. Though you can shoot a Huey down with a Full MG magazine - I have no idea how accurate that is, Im sure one of our resident ballistic experts could fill me in there... Which utlimately shows in AllSeeing Eye. More than half the EOD servers are American , which is the same as Desert Combat, another Mod where the Americans are given the advantage on most maps. ( this is in contrast to BF42 itself which has much more servers from many different countries ) Having one side stronger than the other may be accurate in terms of reality, but sucks for balance in a computer game, guess thats always going to be a problem for Mods like EOD and DC. Desert Combat was a fun if somewhat silly improvement over BF42, EOD seems like a bit of a step backwards in someways. Still, the team obviously has skills, and it IS their first release, so time will tell... My lunch is ready now, so I can stop typing

    Military Humor

Sort of a Military story, definately stupid though... I was living as a Student in Darlington up in the N.E, a smallish town best known for Trains and squadies coming from Catterick Garrison to mash it up with the local Inbreds. My mate at the time was a big lad from High Wycombe who was heavily into drink and drugs, we got on like a house on fire. We were out at Club Lucy's ( on Thursdays it was Free Entry and Å1 per pint ) and enjoying the effects of various substances mixing in our systems, propping the bar up, dancing intermittently, that kind of thing ... My mate at one point comes back from the toilet and tells me some bloke just bumped into him with the usual "You looking at my Bird?" line, clearly trouble with the local inbreds is brewing... So we're stood at the bar, when two lads, dressed in the local uniform of tracksuit bottoms and stripey jumpers start dancing in front of us, waving their arms about. I saw one of their arms move towards my friends direction out of the corner of my eye, but didnt think much of it until my friend turned to me and told me that he thought he had just been punched. This it has to be remembered is a big lad who liked Punk and was half out of his mind on alcohol and drugs. A Punk from High Wycombe and a Catholic from Yorkshire, drugged and liquored up we were more than ready to stand our ground. I expected further altercations but the two other lads just disappeared back into the crowd, so we resumed our bar-propping positions and carried on drinking. Slowly over the course of the next few minutes I noticed that more and more people in the club were looking in our direction, and I dont mean a few, I mean a hundred or so, looking right at us. This was not a good sign. Thoroughly inebriated myself, I took myself off to the toilets, only to be accosted at the doors by one of the Club bouncers who kindly pointed out that if I turned around, I would see somewhere in the region of 50 Off-Duty Squadies all heading towards the toilets right behind me. At this point I decided not to urinate, but to return to the bar where I collected my mate and made a beeline for the exit, where most of the squadies were also following. Outside we took flight and I ran like I hadnt run in years, even my hefty friend showed a surprising turn of speed, luckily the club was only 500 yards or so from where we lived, so local knowledge of Alleys and backgardens saved our hides ( previous experience as a naughty teenager taught me that it is extremely valuable to know which gardens in your area had dogs in them, high fences or those infra-red flood light things ... ). Funnily though, once I had set up a small trade route for illicit substances from Leeds ( in fairly short supply in Darlington ) we became good friends with all the Squadies at Lucy's, and they even took care of us during later altercations. My mate never did stop staring at other peoples birds though.

    MiG-29

With the AfterBurner at Low level it seems to have a 800kmph ( I think, might be mph - cant tell ... didnt OFP used to have the option to change between mph and kmph? I'm sure I remember it did ... ) limit... steady flight seems around the 450-500 range. Took it right up ( all the way to 12,967 foot? metres? never knew stuff could fly that high in OFP ) and turned it down for an Afterburner enhanced nosedive. Only managed to reach 967 ( odd, same number again ) xph. V.nice addon. ( What are the units in OFP measured in tho? speed, Height etc? )

    Resounded ofp

I really like this sound pack, really does give more "Bang for your Buck!" Didnt like the installation instructions ( replacing standard Bis sound files ) so I stuck it in a Mod folder instead and it works just as well, and with Kegetys cool new OFPLauncher I can pick between this and the DynamicRange sound pack. Though I have to say I prefer this one over the DR pack, mainly because its so loud and in your face and often the guns in the DR pack sound miles away even when they're right next to you.

Thats due to the bug in the Linux server that doesnt allow Addons to specify Required OFP version 1.91 ( the Linux server only accepts those that require 1.90 ) I believe the 1.90 Linux server had the same bug ... be nice to see it fixed.... Looks like you have some great addons, the one thing that CTi is missing for me is an Armed APC like the M113, West gets too much of an advantage being able to buy that from Light Vehicles when East only has the more expensive Shilka ...

    New ofp launcher version 2.0

Great Stuff! Just what I asked for in an earlier thread! Though I agree with Avon, Mod Profiles would be really useful. I have all sorts of addons I want to switch on and off ( Hisky, DynamicRange, Battlefield Insane etc ) and all the campaigns and servers I play require different sets of addons. One last addition to make this the perfect launcher!

    All-time best missions list

MF Conquer The Island. MFcti One of the Best Single Player missions I have ever played, and it's supposed to be played online! I just got into it the last few days, so been practicing offline. The Manual took some reading, but its easy to let the AI take command and watch and learn. And WHAT AI! A seriously clever mission. Amazing stuff.

    A good place for :

I ripped the sound files out of Quake3 Threewave CTF. ( One of the All Time great Mods! ) It has all the useful stuff for Teamwork and Bases/Flags etc, and they all sound very cool ( loud with lots of reverb ) "Humiliation!" is a good one to reach for when watching your team-mates die! Been thinking about using some UT2k3 ones as well, some of them are fantastic too "Dominating!" and "Wicked Sick!" could have their uses in Flashpoint ...
  23. It would be fantastic if someone could make an OFP Launcher that lets you select Mod folders and then launches OFP with all the correct folders activated. Its a pain having loads of Mod folders, and having to have some addons in their own folder because of compatibility purposes. Playing online or just SP gets to be a hassle making shortcuts all the time for all the different mod folders a mission or server might require. It should be a simple app to make, that looks at your OFP folder and picks up e.g any folder prefaced with an @ ( e.g: Â @Bas - it would mean people would have to name all their mod folders to @... ) and then present a nice tick list so you can select which folders you want and then launch the game ( and a nice option would be to output the results to text so the custom shortcut can be quickly copied to AllSeeingEye for easy online play. ) As much as I don't know diddly about programming ( I tried to do it just using .bat files and failed miserably ), I imagine it should be quite a simple thing to do... Whatcha Fink? ( I went looking to see if anyone has already made something similar and couldnt fine any )
  24. Thanks for the reply Apocolypse, didnt spot it til now. Id looked at the Addon manager, and its a great tool, but Im still too lazy to go through the hundreds of addons and different folders I have to launch ofp. So many missions and campaigns require different mixes of addons, and there are quite a few pesky addons that clash with each other and cause errors .... I think I have a solution in site ... not sure.
